Here's a Very Old. Antique Miniature Arch Top Trunk for Dolls. Please, see all the pics as they are an important part of the description. This is from the 1800s and from what I can gather, through a little research, it's probably from the 1850s to 1870s but, I'm not positive.you girls who collect these things will know by looking at it, immediately. It Measures 14" Long X 8 1/8" Front to Back X 9" Tall. Both the Trunk and the Tray are structurally sound with no loose joints or corner wiggling or racking.it's firm all around. The Latch is Original, I believe but the rear hinges look to be of a later date. The Original painted cotton cloth covering(over the wood) which is what they used back then(much the same as many full-sized trunks from back then) is torn and/or missing in several areas. I suppose this can ... morebe restored if so desired. There are two knot holes in one end of the trunk. These were not drilled by anybody.they are actual natural holes where the knots fell out a long time ago. The Original Interior Paper covering is well worn. There is no key and was lost probably a very long time ago. One of the Leather Handles is torn off but I have left it in the tray for you. I'm a guy and don't know much about these things but I can actually say that it's pretty neat! Because of the condition issues, which I have described(along with the pics) this is being sold AS IS. Revolutionary War Era Pine Trunk Travel Chest Military Campaign Iron Hardware. We are selling a very old named military campaign chest from the revolutionary war era. This just is constructed with most unusual cuts of wood. The top. Sides and bottom all have one piece planks for construction. I believe this chest was all painted in a hand grain when it was made originally. The inside of the lid has most of the original hand grain still on it. There are a few small spots we can still see the original grain but 98% of it is gone. Chest was also repainted in a grayish color at one time, but most of that gray color is also gone. The iron hardware is all hand forged and mostly still there. The strap hinges were moved at one time is the pictures show. The lock is all may have iron,and in the locked position, with no key. There are remnants of leather ... morehandles on both sides of the chest. The chest has been Nailed and re-screwed and resecured many, many times. The newest nails in the chest look to be close to 100 years old. There are screws, original hand cut nails in the rectangular shape, and the very old, square handcut nails. The owners name was Capt. E. B. Jones. His name is on the front of the chest, the side of the chest, and looks like some other writing on the bottom of the chest which we can't make out. There is also a very small partial shipping label on the front in white paper that reads Cunard lines, NO. 7. The size of the chest is 28 1/4 x 17 x 16" This wonderful little wartime souvenir has all the properties of be in from the Civil War era. The chest is in very rough condition and you are buying it as is and shown. Please look close at the pictures as they are part of the description. In between the oak slats it has the original brown canvas on wood. The original leather straps on each side are still present. The inside has the original lift out divided wood tray covered in paper. It is a very small model made by hand to be able to easily transport from potential client to client for sales rather than carrying a heavy. Large, original sized trunk. It is beautifully made with an abundance of nice detailing and many different materials. it is made from wood. Nice Small VINTAGE FAUX LEATHER COVERED TRUNK Grip Child Travel Chest Miniature
This lot is a gorgeous little faux leather covered trunk. Probably dating from the early 1900s. It only measures about 14" long by 10" wide by 7" high. I have been informed by an ebayer who seems to have some expertise on old trunks that this piece is covered with fiber or vulcanized fiber. Which looks like leather but is much tougher. I'm not sure if this trunk was originally intended for a child's use or for a lady's personal items. But it is a very high quality, well made piece. Look at the last photo- Even the bottom is finished as well as the rest of the trunk! The original fabric lining is still intact. The only stone I can throw at it is part of the lock mechanism is missing, which is probably a blessing, because it's easy to lock yourself out of an old trunk like this. Nice Antique 1800's Small Dome Top Child’s Travel Chest
You are bidding on a VERY RARE and Nice Antique 1800's Dome Top Child’s Travel Chest. This chest does need a LOT of tender loving care. This travel chest is a wooden box covered with a designed paper material adorned with leather straps/bands along the bottom of the top lid. It has metal ornate bands holding down the wood strapping. A brass tone front locking mechanism. But we have no key. The box measures 14 inches long x 8 ½ inches wide not counting the wooden strapping and 9 ½ inches tall at the center of the dome. It is in need of restoration but is a very old and unique item that would make a great antique display. Comes from an old estate barn and begs for TLC. This is a cool vintage large Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk! Just add glass for the perfect coffee table! Black trim which wears better and looks less worn than the tan. It is stamped with initials and NY. I love that its from New York! 39" wide x 22" tall x 21" deep Approx 50lbs It is not perfect. Of course. One side has appears to have gotten wet. There is no odor or mold. Just a little wavy and some minor interior stains. Estimated restoration cost is $1250. All proper markings and authenticity is guaranteed(and obvious) Fabulous dream piece! Antique Round Wooden Stagecoach Trunk Brass Gold Rush Era Travel Chest Vintage
For consideration is an antique wood trunk in good condition. The trunk is embellished with square shank brass studs and is lined with a Boston paper(Gleason's Pictorial Drawing Room Companion) that is dated 1851. The former owner(an elderly woman in Southern NH) said that it was in her family as long as she could remember. Though she couldn't give additional concrete details. Her grandfather had gone to California during the gold rush, but she couldn't be sure this trunk belonged to him. On top of the trunk are the initials"B.B. Their last name starts with a"B" but her grandfather's first name didn't start with"B. She kept it in back of her rocking chair. Which is why there are scratches on the right side of the trunk. There are some holes that appear to have had brass tacks in them at some point, ... morebut they don't line up with the tacks that are currently there. It looks like someone may have taken the original tacks off and put these on. I'm wondering if there was an early refinishing of the trunk which may have required the tacks to be removed and then replaced. You'll notice that there are missing tacks on the front near the latch and one missing on top of the trunk. There are very old pads on the bottom of the trunk. Most of the hardware appears original. One of the hinges on the back is still attached entirely with old rose head nails. There are several newer(but still old) screws that have been used in repairing or reinforcing the trunk and its hardware. The wrought iron handles are period. The trunk has a nice honey color. The interior is heavily soiled and I didn't attempt to clean it as I wanted to preserve the paper lining. It's approximately 24" wide by 12" in diameter.
