This highly attractive reproduction American Chippendale Highboy emulates closely after the Philadelphia work centers. Probably crafted during the last years of the 19th century, the entire case is crafted by hand with thick solid walnut planks for primary surfaces. All secondary woods are heavy solid planks of oak, poplar and chestnut. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the bottoms chamfered along the edges and set in grooves in the drawer frame. The brilliant brass batwing hardware is original to the case. The broken-arch pediment boasts robust carved rosettes set beneath a deep molding flanked by flame carved finials. Of the eleven drawers lining the facade, two are embellished with recessed shell carvings, the knees and apron likewise showcasing detailed shell forms. The entire case rests over cabriole legs terminating in trifid feet. This is an absolutely gorgeous reproduction for anyone passionate about the American Chippendale form. There is some paper peeling on the interior, there are some tears, there is some water damage to the wood(mostly to the paper(peeling/bubbling) There are a few rips in the fabric lining as well. There is a crack on the interior bottom of the wood, there are also some vintage stickers on the exterior. This trunk is a fantastic piece, anyone would be lucky to have it. It comes from a smoke free home. Up for auction is a beautiful. Handmade wooden storage chest. This came from a family member's estate and was recently appraised by a certified antique appraiser for $1,500. The dimensions are 14" high by 17.5" wide and 11" outside depth. Inside it is 9" deep. It sits on 3"legs. As with any piece of furniture of the age. There are several nicks and dents on the outside. ANTIQUE AUTHENTIC STAGE COACH 3 COMPARTMENT WOODEN TRUNK/CHEST 1840's Up for auction is this very rare vintage STAGE COACH WOODEN CHEST with 2 DRAWERS plus a secret compartment when you lift the top of the chest/trunk made of SOLID WOOD. It was actually used on a stage coach and in very good condition for its age. Shabby chic rustic and rugged. Made of solid wood and brass triming and very sturdy. There is a little paint loss on it due to its age. It looks like it was hand made as well as CUSTOM made. It is solid with no damage to it or its 2 drawers. The drawers are almost 14 inches in depth x 20 inches long x 2" wide. In good solid condition. None of the wood shows any sign of damage. Warping or shrinkage. Both drawers open and close easily. Two metal knobs are present on each drawer to open the drawers. The previous owner told ... moreus that it was checked by an expert and was made sometime during the 1840's and except for one handle on the top. Everything else is original. There is a personal gun/pistol box or a storage box specifically made to store guns. Its bottom drawer is QUITE UNIQUE. The drawer has seven raised wooden compartments in the color blue. TWO of which were designed specifically to fit pistols. The other compartments perhaps to hold ammo and anything else related to pistols or guns. Considering the fact that the trunk carried pistols and perhaps gunpowder. It is quite understandable why side handles were never attached to the trunk. Thus the trunk/chest by design does not have any side carrying handles. We are guessing here that perhaps the trunk was a salesman's trunk in order to sell pistols. That would assure the owner that the trunk had to be hand carried at all times. When you open the trunk/chest it will not remain open unless you put something underneath the top to prevent it from closing. Circa 1820 Boyle County Kentucky cherry sugar chest. Beautiful and elegant simplicity with turned legs. Divider, lock and keeper. There is also a diamond inlay around the key area. This is a perfect size for one's home as it measures 25" HOA x 16.5" DOA x 27" WOA. The sugar chest may be seen in Danville as it is resting in the front entry hall at the estate.

Original Circa 1830's Southern Sugar Chest
For sale is this wonderful original southern sugar chest. Great original worn green paint with all hardware. Dovetailed corners and sliding drawer. The hand forged sugar cutter is inside and works well. Found in central Georgia at an estate sale about 10 years ago and has been in a collection since then. All square head nails except for a couple of no harm round heads used to reinforce a few corners. Well made piece and very attractive size-perfect for table top and a great conversation piece from the period when sugar was actually locked up.
