19th CENTURY ITALIAN WALNUT BOMBAY CHEST WITH GRANITE TOP
As you can see in my pictures this is a gorgeous CHEST. It is simply one of the prettiest pieces I have ever owned. I purchased this from a lady over 20 years ago and at that time I knew that it was an expensive and rare piece. It was in my daughters bedroom for years and when she grew up and moved out. I thought it was just too pretty to sit in her old bedroom with her door shut. I moved it into my living room and I'm glad I did. I have done some research on this piece and I know that it is very old and rare. I was told that it was from Italy. Everyone that sees this piece goes on, and on about how beautiful it is. At the time that I purchased this I was told that she purchased it from a high end antique store. As for any other information on this piece I am not totally sure about it. Antique Vintage 19th Century American Sea Captains Ditty Box Chest Oak/IvoryTrim
The chest measures 22 1/4" Long x 10 5/8" High x 13 3/4" Deep. It is heavily trimmed with shale tooth ivory. The wood chest looks to be oak. The bottom looks to be maple. There are 3 brass plates on the top. The outer 2 have latitude and longitude lines with some continents depicted. The middle rectangular plate is inscribed'Property Captain F. Smith Bark Ohio New Bedford' Some of the ivory trim pieces are cracked and/or part of it missing. The bottom has a large split in it. Please see pictures. Also the key and lock are missing. Rare Early American Folk Art Pegged Oak Chest c. 18th/19th Century
I have an early American pegged oak trunk from the late 18th/early 19th century or possibly older. Its in structurally good shape but has some ware to the front and a small area on the left. Its a very interesting piece of furniture as it has no nails. All the joints are hand carved and pegged together, even the wood was hand hewn. Its possibly a colonial piece that was made by farmers or settlers on the East Coast. It also has designed carved into the surface that look like Native American designs like arrow heads. Iv never really seen anything like it. Also the metal component for the lock is forged from the look of it. The only piece on the chest that seems to be new is the hinges which consist of two wooden dowels placed on each side to hold the lid in place. AMERICAN GREEN PAINTED PINE BLANKET CHEST. PENNSYLVANIA 19th Century with Dovetailed Feet Signed on bottom"Jonas Cros.y" and inscribed in lid"Amelia Saltsmon" Item# 1409AIU01P This is a wonderful early 19th Century painted blanket chest from Southeastern Pennsylvania. The surface dry and worn with an early green paint. The surface is plain and undisturbed with embellishment, the whole being deeply oxidized and full of charming wear. The construction is standard and uncomplicated, the exterior of the case crafted of six broad planks of Eastern White Pine, the sides and bottom joined with exposed dovetail construction. The base is affixed with a series of small pegs and the feet are delicate little brackets with exposed dovetailing to the front and sides. Likewise, the molding around the top is affixed with pegs set at regular ... moreintervals, the lid lifting on original wrought iron strap hinges affixed with mostly original screws. The original steel lock and catch survive in the case, though no key is available. The till is somewhat unique, the outer edge lifting in grooves on either side to reveal a compartment below the till- the lifting wall is not unusual, but this usually reveals drawers instead of this tidy compartment. The bottom of the case is inscribed in a now faded ink"Jonas Cros.y" the J and the C both being quite accomplished with extensive swirling. This form is easily incorporated into modern decor in so many ways. Including as a coffee table, an entertainment stand beneath a flat screen, while also working wonderfully in front of a period bed as it was intended. It is a striking piece that will certainly be cherished in your home for a lifetime. Measurements: 48 9/16" W x 18 3/4" D x 18 3/4" H Condition Report: Early dry green surface not the first with remnants of gray and lower layers with traces of red; surface is worn and scratched. Antique 19th Century Dome Top Chest Steamer Trunk ~ Late 1800's. Rustic. Lock is intact and closes but there is no key. Inside is lined with original fabric. Top Leather Straps are missing but do not take away from the antique look. see photos) This Steamer Trunk has been in my family for a few generations and was handled by the original Los Angels Transfer Company(see cool company sticker on the side of the trunk- notice the 1940's phone number of TRinity 1001) This is a low dome top trunk as opposed to some of the higher domes on the market. American Federal Painted Antique Blanket Chest, Pennsylvania, Early 19th Century
FINE AMERICAN FEDERAL PAINTED BLANKET CHEST ON FLARED FRENCH FEET Pennsylvania. C. Second Quarter of the 19th Century Item# 410SLU18 A very striking use of the flared foot in the blanket chest. The taste for Neoclassical austerity quickly translated into even the most functional of rural furnishings in the second quarter of the nineteenth century. These developments are clear in the angular reeded molding around the base, the softened scrolling of the returns around the feet and the simple escutcheon employed at the lock. Beyond these design changes, the structure of the chest remains unchanged from the late eighteenth-century form- the projecting molding around the top is affixed on a tongue-in-groove with an even series of wooden pins driven into the top, this raising on it's original rectangular cast iron hinges. The case leaves all ... moredovetailing along the front, sides and back exposed- the dovetails were considered a mark of excellent craftsmanship and were a proud part of the form, something to be displayed and considered by the customer of the day. The dovetailing continues in the back of the case through the rear foot supports, these affixed with large and carefully cut dovetails to the facings, all feet also supported with the typical bevelled horizontal blocking and large vertical interior blocks(two replaced, one absent, one original) Retaining it's original burgundy red painted surface. This chest is an absolute treasure of a find- the state of preservation throughout is remarkable with only the most minor of touch ups, the whole being free of any restoration after two hundred years of use. It was clearly cherished by it's owners. The bottom of the interior has a large scrolled inscription that is illegible to us, a more tidy but still illegible inscription beside the lock(not pictured) For any serious collector of Americana. Original Vtg Antique 19th Century Wooden 4 Drawer Tood Chest Box Iron Handles
This is a nice. Heavy solid wood four drawer tool chest with a sturdy iron drop handle on each side. The finish has a fantastic darkened, aged patina with cracking/crazing and thickening of the finish from age(shown close-up) One of the wooden drawer pulls has been replaced with an old brass pull and it looks like a wooden panel once attached to the front of the box, but it is no longer intact. There are some remnants of paper labels on the chest, but they are very darkened, worn, and no longer readable. All four drawers open and close easily, and the chest is perfectly useable and displayable. Dower Chest-19th Century -Excellent Paint Surface
Early 19th century dower chest in paint decoration. This was recently found in the attic of a colonial era tavern in Groton. Connecticut where it had been stored for over 50 years. I believe this to be of Scandinavian origin. It is well built with large dove tailed joints, a tapered body, superb wrought hinges and rose-headed nails in the domed lid. The main box measures 56"L x 21"deep and is 21" wide at the base tapering out to 25" Closed it measures 56-1/2"L x 26-1/2"H. The till had been removed a long time ago as the owner never remembers it ever being there. Excellent dry condition. Solid mahogany chest. Empire style with book match detail. Features six drawers. With all original knobs; two at top are glass, others metal, although bottom right metal knob is partially broken. There are six individual keyholes, keys are missing. Minor dings and scratches, with some white paint. The back of the left top chest is cracked, and the bottom drawer is loose. It measures 40 inches by 44 inches by 19 inches.

Antique Spanish walnut and pine chest of drawers. 19th century. The top and front are walnut, the sides are paneled pine. The top two drawers have nice old iron locks, the bottom drawer does not have a lock. This is a very nicely made chest of drawers, with hand dovetailed drawers and a paneled back. The walnut has a nice old patina that walnut gets with age. We do not have a key for the locks. Dimensions, height 35" width 36.5" depth 18.75" The condition is very good, there are old character mars and minor inactive worming.

I believe this miniature hope chest dates from the 19th century! It is in EXCELLENT condition overall with minor surface wear to the wood and a few VERY MINOR gaps in the wood! There is evidence of it having been repaired with some glue on the bottom! I believe this is an older repair that was done at the time that the felt lining was added to the interior tray and compartment! The felt lining has two slim gaps along the edge in the tray which was how the felt was installed! Otherwise the felt in both the tray and compartment are intact with no holes and very minor soiling! Approx. 10.5" X 5.5" at the base 7.5" tall! The tray is approx. 9" X 4" and I believe the bottom piece of the tray is a replacement! The well is approx. 3.5" deep below the tray!
