The lid and plate that the tureen rests on have no damage other than expected crazing. There is no ladle. But there are a few dark spots which look and feel to be places where the pottery was not completely covered in glaze. These do not detract from the beauty of the piece. The dish is about 13 inches long from handle tip to tip, and about 7 inches wide. The piece stands about 7.25 inches tall. It is a gracefully curved oval shape with a small footed base.

Up for your consideration is this beautiful old oblong shaped soup tureen. There is no lid. The measurements are approximately 12" from handle to handle. 4-1/4 in height, and 8" across. The vessel is approximately 2-1/2 quart capacity. Marking on the bottom identify it as made in England by Luton, Alfred Meakin, Royal Semi Porclain. It is decorated with roses, in colors of gold, pink, yellow and green. There is normal wear for the age of this piece. I find no chips or dings visable. There is some discoloration as shown on inside of bowl. This would make a lovely serving, display or addition to your collection. Magnificent Transferware Staffordshire Bowl c. 1835, "Sicilian" Poultney & etc.
For your consideration we offer a beautiful 1835- 1850 open vegetable serving bowl. Made by Poultney& Allies. Early Staffordshire makers, in the exquisite"Sicilian" Pattern in medium blue and white. There is a very faint impressed mark in the same area as the underglaze blue mark, that apprears to say Poutney& Aillies. Minton made a very similar pattern, and this could be Minton, but the impressed mark, although difficult to see seems to indicate otherwise. The Minton pieces date closer to the 1850's, and the Poutney pieces are older. There is no damage that we can see. Measures 12" long. By 9" wide, by 4" high. A good size. Classic Romantic Period form with a scalloped pedestal foot. Gently lobed oval shape and openwork, curved handles terminating in a large flower form. Gorgeous scene of a tomb or monument. ... moreEvocative of the middle east or North Africa in design, sitting in a lake, surrounded by urns and lavish foliage on the shore. Personally, I think this pattern may refer to Napoleon in some way. The tomb is reminiscent of Napoleon's tomb in Paris, and I believe he was Sicilian. He would have died only a few years before this bowl was made, and there seems to be a hooded, perhaps grieving figure, pointing toward the tomb. Others feel this pattern was inspired by a novel of the same name from the late 1700's. This magnificent bowl would be the centerpiece of a collection. Relatively rare. Up for sale we have a most beautiful Caneware Victorian Game Pie Dish on Tray. This covered Yelloware casserole dish has historical significance as a dish used to house filling without wheat or flour to make the crust. And what a beautiful pie crust it is. This was done due to the Wheat shortage from the Napoleonic War when England did not have grain. They used these dishes to make kidney pie as well as fruit filled dishes. That is why the edge resembles Pie Crust. A glorious yellow ware color. Befitting the adorable chicks on the top cover. They are hatching out of their shells amidst a wheat bed of full flowered grain. The Tureen has had restoration before we aquired it. The one chick's head appears to have been the focal point of the restoration. However it is very professional and there is no crack or chips that tell what was. There ... moreare also a couple of flea bits on a couple of the shells. They really look part of the picture of the cracked open eggs. Then there is a half moon crack going nowhere on the edge of the tray. Overall the covered dish and tray look mint. But we are selling As Is with imperfections due to its Antiquity& soft paste nature. This Victorian treasure has been kept for years by those who knew how wonderful it is. The covered dish measures 7 1/2" tall by 7" in dia. The tray is about 9" across. It is marked on the bottom with a large"E& W" and the number 193. We are not sure of the maker of this great dish. Wedgwood produced the Caneware Game Pie Dishes in the Mid 19th century. But those dishes have always been marked with the Wedgwood impressed mark. As far as we know. The base measures at 12 5/8 inches from handle to handle x 10 1/4 inches. The ladle is 11 1/2 inches long. The lid measures at 7 1/2 inches in diameter. The tureen itself measures at 12 inches from handle to handle x 9 inches front to back x 8 inches height by itself, 12 inches height with the lid, 13 inches height with lid and underplate.

We believe this to be from the Les Islettes factory but we will call it Faience de L'Est which is a general term for the faience that was made in the east of France and blankets many diffrent factories. This beautiful lidded dish is totally hand painted with beautiful flowers and roses. It has the"combing" that is typical of the Les Islettes factory. It sits on four fabulous leaf feet that come up together to make the handles. The lid has molded and applied vegetables in the Palissy manner. It features 2 leeks. Old Pink Luster Tureen w Rooster Finial + Ladle Beautifully glazed. This elegant tureen makes for a stunning presentation at any dinner party. The tureen is octagonal shape and comes with its ladle. Both have pink and gold luster glaze which was applied to look like marbling. The lid is crowned with a split tail rooster and the tureen has a footed base. No marks so I don't know the manufacturer but it was probably made in France and sometime in the mid to later 19th century. Offered is this beautiful. Large, round tureen base in the Split Pod Shape. This piece features a pedestal base, side handles with embossed leaves on either side, and a scalloped top rim. It was produced by James Edwards in Burslem, England and was registered in 1856. It retains his impressed mark with the registration diamond. This piece has a small chip on the base rim. Some crazing, and some light age coloring and light wear primarily on the handles and top rim. Antique English J. Clementson Sydenham Ironstone Transferware Oval Lidded Tureen. Circa 1936-1842, I believe, made before Clementson's British Registry Mark had been approved. It is a very early piece, marked only with the incised number 36 on the bottom. Very early wares had been unmarked, marked after 1839. This wonderful piece was found in the attic of a very old house. It was wrapped in a crumbling newspaper dated 1880. Tureen. As well as the lid are in very good condition, with the exception of an old tight crack and some wear to the bowl's rim. There are3 tilt marks inside of the bowl, occasional pin size imperfections and tiny black specks. Gorgeous deep blue transferware. Antique Classical Scenes Blue Transferware Ironstone Oval Tureen. With lid. Unmarked. With the exception of only with incised number 36 on the bottom. Very detailed transfers in medium blue color. There are 3 stilt marks inside of the bowl. Occasional pin size imperfections and a few tiny black specks. Bowl's bottom and top rims had been glazed, but look like worn out from using. Two sides of the bowl bear mold lines, only on the exterior wall. They run from the outer edge of the foot to the outer edge of the top rim. There is an old tight, approx. 3/4" extending over the top rim and onto the side of top blue border. Not sure if it goes through or is just superficial. There iare some very light utensil scratches to the interior, visible upon closer scrutiny under the stronger light. Measures approx. 12-1/2" long(with handles) ... morex 7" tall(incl. lid's knob) My husband bought this tureen from an antique store. The owner said it was found all wrapped up in a crumbling 1880 newspaper.In an attic od a very old house upstate New York. The man is a very honest person. Elegant porcelain tureen and matching underplate decorated with a delicate green laurel leaf border(a pattern known as Colina) Large gilt finial and gilt accents. It is marked on the underside Vista Alegre Portugal. Vista Alegre was founded in the early 1800's by Portuguese industrialist Pinto Basto. Fabulous mid 1800's all white opaque stone china lidded tureen or serving dish by Anthony Shaw& Son. Its design has a deco look with the angular tab handles decorated with a molded fan like design which matches the design on the lid each side of the filled loop finial. A versatile all white. The bottom dish measures just under 10" across the handles and the interior rim is just about 7 and 5/8" diameter. Overall height including the lid is just approaching 6" tall. The condition is fantastic with no chips, cracks or repairs. I noticed a few scattered very small discoloration spots, mainly on the inside bottom of the dish. They really are barely visible so I expect they can't be seen in the photos. There are a few insignificant scratches and some light crazing on the lid which you may see in the photos. Lovely Blue and White Tureen ~ Serving Dish with Lid Floral
This is a lovely old serving tureen or serving dish with lid in blue and white floral pattern. It has a nice sheen- no crazing- but there are 2 chips- one on the to edge of the lid and one on the bottom/underside of the lid. Please zoom on the pictures to see close details of these chips. This dish has a lovely and unusual shape and nic colors- photos do not do it justice. This dish measures 10" x 7 1/2" for the lid and the bowl itself measures 12" handle to handle and it is about 3" deep. There is a little number"58" or"68" pressed into the bottom of the bowl and looks like some words pressed into the bottom which I cannot read. And well as a little blue mark which I cannot identify. Magnificent Italian Transferware Stoneware Tureen with underplate and ladle
For your consideration we offer a really gorgeous. Large tureen with lid, under plate and ladle. It is made by Laveno. The famous old Italian pottery, and is decorated in lovely hand colored transfers of wild flowers, in roses, pinks, greens yellows and blues, all in very nice detail. the tureen has two handles and an artichoke finial. I think it dates to the mid-20th century. Or possibly as late as 1975. It is quite a good size. The circular under plate is a full 13" in diameter. The tureen. Samuel Moore(c.1775/1844) took over the pottery with Peter Austin as his short term partner, and changed the name of the pottery to'Wear Pottery' which operated with the name of'S. Moore& Co. which name stayed, I read, for the lifetime of the pottery. Both Moore and Austin had trained at under Robert Fairbairns. And Austin had married Moore's sister, Jane. Neither stayed in the business for long, apparently. But Samuel's son Charles had joined him in the business and in fact by 1831 he was the pottery manager. They could be described as in perfect condition but for a hairline stress crack on the end of one lid[see photo] as weel as a 1" hairline crack on rim of lower portion. There is a 1/8" chip on the inner rim of same tureen which is not noticable when lid is on. Both are lovely and would look nice displayed. If you have any questions regarding these. White Ironstone Grape Clusters with Chain Shape Sauce Tureen - c.1865
Offered is this lovely White Ironstone Sauce or Gravy Tureen in the"Grape Clusters with Chain" Shape. This shape features clusters of grapes& leaves on a vine over the body and lid. With a chain trim around the top& base of the tureen and outer rim of the lid. This piece also has a slight pedestal base, uplift handles and a ring finial. It was produced by H. Burgess in Burslem, England circa 1865, though it is unmarked. This tureen is in excellent overall condition with no chips or cracks. There are some light spots of age coloring and a tiny vertical line on the top rim.
