The scene appears to be Japanese and the dish is in remarkable ... moreshape for its age. With a nice glossy glaze. The lid and dish are both beautifully decorated. Top handle is a floral decoration and the inside of the dish has transferred designs on it as opposed to being blank. Some of the glaze is gone in a few places. But there are no chips or cracks. There is isolated crazing throughout blank areas of the piece and a few areas of minor discoloration. Inside of the bowl has fine scratches which are only noticeable in the light. The piece has a minuscule mark I could only capture with a loupe on top of it. It resembles an 8 or B with a hook on top of it and a K underneath it. Features a nice brown transferware pattern with very pale blue and pink flowers. The ornate handles have been decorated with gilt. The dish measures about 11" long, 7 1/2" wide and is 5 1/2" tall. In wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The interior of the dish is showing 3 dark glazing stilt marks and the inside of the cover is showing a thin line(crack-like) that is due to manufacturing. for more great items! Antique Transferware Capetani Covered Tureen! WOW
This is truly an exquisite antique transferware covered large oval serving dish. The handle is painted to look like a twisted branch with a pair of leaves and raised"grapes" on one side and a raised leaf on the other side. The handles have raised leaves and a bunch of grapes with little"twists" like a grape vine. The decoration has flowers and swags of leaves. Etc. An absolutely outstanding example of antique transferware. The inteior of the bowl is slightly discolored due to age and there is one miniscule nick at the rim-we have photographed, but very very small. No cracks that we can find. The mark on the bottom is hard to read, but looks like"capetani" with a"P" underneath-mayber an"M 78" and an impressed"H" Lovely hard to find piece of blue and white transferware. About 13 1/2" ... morefrom handle to handle and about 6" to the top of the"twig" handle. 7 1/2" across. There are small scratches on the outside from use. I have closely inspected all pieces and have found a few minor flaws. Overall. Everything looks stunning and is certainly a collection worthy piece. Underplate: On the underplate there is two small chips under one of the handles. There is also a small hairline crack under the other handle. There is some minor crazing and signs of use such as a few surface scratches on the front of the plate. Overall it looks wonderful and has a shiny finish. Tureen Lid: The lid is also in great shape with minimal wear. It does not have any chips but I did notice one 1" long hairline crack that has developed over the years. Lovely Thomas Edwards transferware tureen or vegatable bowl base circa 1841. This is in the blue Waverly pattern and is marked T Edwards Porcelain Opaque on the bottom. It has a creamy white background with interesting brown transferware pattern and gold accents. There are no chips or cracks, but there is fine crazing and fading of the gold accents. Up for sale is this Vintage Unmarked Rose Transferware Tureen with Intricate Gold Trim. This item measures approximately 5 1/2" tall by 10" from handle to handle. This beautiful little item is decorated in transfers of rose patterns. And go ld intricate bordering around the lid and the top of the tureen itsel f. The base is unmarked with nei ther maker mark. Or place of production. This p iece is in excellen t condition with little wear. Due to age, such as crazing, some wear to the gold paint along the handles and finial of the lid, and one crack that travels from the inside edge of the tureen down the inside of the bowl. The crack is a h airline crack and only measures 1/4 inch. Th ere is a craze that connects to th e crack. It isn't crack ed further than the rim. This piece is beautiful. TYhis listing is for a purple(mulberry) transfer printed William Ridgway Opaque China Fancy Flowers pattern ironstone covered tureen. It measures 6" tall to the top of the finial. And 8" handle to handle. It has a spiderweb on the side with a tiny exterior loss. The inside, and bottom of the base show under-glaze in-the-making fissures(factory flaws, not damage) There is one chip to the inside edge of the lid rim. Up for auction today is a center bowl with under plate marked Thomas Elsmore& Son. England. It has an aesthetic movement motif. The design looks to be brown transferware with touches of color. The pattern is Japanese/Oriental style with groups of blooming flowers, decorated fans, butterflies and geometric designs. The mark indicates a date of 1872-1887. Condition is good with one chip on bottom rim of platter. No repairs. Some crazing and staining which is characteristic of this style transfer ware. ~ Stately ~ This very large soup tureen is complete with its underplate and lid. It was made by Charles Meigh. Old Hall Pottery, Hanley, North Staffordshire, England. The combination of the marks dates the production between 1835 and 1849. The pattern is Athens. It has a black transfer that is highly detailed. It is basically oval but it is eight sided. The handles and finial are quite elaborate. It came from a local estate with a very nice collection of antiques. It was proudly displayed on a sideboard. It is not perfect. But considering that is is pre-civil war, its condition is very good. Condition: No chips. Overall crazing mostly clean. It is slightly shadowy on the outside. The inside has more staining. Quite rare in any antique transferware pattern. 4 matched pieces in the Aesthetic pattern, 3 for certain, and I am assured, although markless, the spoon is original to this group) all in very nice condition, here 135 years after they were made. Note small chip off bottom of platter, light and even ice type crackle on the surface, near invisible, a beginning hairline inside the tureen near the handle, see the close up, two very small flecks on the perforated ladle where it attaches to the wooden handle, with light darkening to the surface of the platter; a bit more prominent inside of the tureen. Overall, the decorations are brilliant, this is a massive and impressive display piece, standing 11 inches tall, and 16.5 inches at the widest of the platted. Antique English J. Clementson Sydenham Ironstone Transferware Oval Lidded Tureen. Circa 1936-1842, I believe, made before Clementson's British Registry Mark had been approved. It is a very early piece, marked only with the incised number 36 on the bottom. Very early wares had been unmarked, marked after 1839. This wonderful piece was found in the attic of a very old house. It was wrapped in a crumbling newspaper dated 1880. Tureen. As well as the lid are in very good condition, with the exception of an old tight crack and some wear to the bowl's rim. There are3 tilt marks inside of the bowl, occasional pin size imperfections and tiny black specks. Gorgeous deep blue transferware. Antique Classical Scenes Blue Transferware Ironstone Oval Tureen. With lid. Unmarked. With the exception of only with incised number 36 on the bottom. Very detailed transfers in medium blue color. There are 3 stilt marks inside of the bowl. Occasional pin size imperfections and a few tiny black specks. Bowl's bottom and top rims had been glazed, but look like worn out from using. Two sides of the bowl bear mold lines, only on the exterior wall. They run from the outer edge of the foot to the outer edge of the top rim. There is an old tight, approx. 3/4" extending over the top rim and onto the side of top blue border. Not sure if it goes through or is just superficial. There iare some very light utensil scratches to the interior, visible upon closer scrutiny under the stronger light. Measures approx. 12-1/2" long(with handles) ... morex 7" tall(incl. lid's knob) My husband bought this tureen from an antique store. The owner said it was found all wrapped up in a crumbling 1880 newspaper.In an attic od a very old house upstate New York. The man is a very honest person. Description An outstanding example of John and William Ridgway(JWR) blue transferware in the sought after"India Temple" pattern. Two parts-base bowl and domed lid. When together. It measures 11" wide handle to handle and 6" tall. Stone China. The hexagon shaped bowl features two gold gilt handles and a transfer image on the inside of the bowl. The domed lid is also a hexagon with a gold glit floriform knop and the India Temple transfer design. India Temple is a Chinoiserie pattern. Mark on base of 19th century English Staffordshire brothers John and William Ridgway who worked together and used this mark from 1815-1830. The domed lid is really clean. All I can find is a tiny loss on the side as shown in photo and a few some little black marks in a few spots which appear to be under the glaze. On the bowl. I see one very small hairline on the edge as shown on photo and a two other line marks that looks more that surface blemishes in the making(see photos to judge for yourself) than cracks. On the underside of the bowl, I see a few small blemishes as shown in photos and a small loss along the the rim. The 1st and 3rd photos are best for actual color. It does have an old chip in the top rim, which I have not cleaned or sealed. Up for auction just in time for the holidays. Is this stunningly beautiful Antique tureen with brown transferware design. This piece is unmarked aside from numbers on the bottom(see photo 4) and on the inside on the lid(photo 3) The lovely floral designs look like forget-me-not flowers and they show a hint of pink color. But just a hint. There looks to have one time been some trim of this. But it is worn off in places. The florals are unworn. There are no chips or cracks on this piece. Which is remarkable. There are dots of brown on interior of lid which I think happened during firing as they are under the glaze. I don't know maker. Origin or design name, unfortunately. This was purchased at a high-end, Boise Idaho Estate sale where there was alot of transferware from England. Antique J.Ridgway - Warwick Pattern - Blue Transferware Tureen Set - 1830-1855
3 piece set- antique blue and white transferware tureen. Lid and underplate. Heavy ironstone, made by John Ridgway, one of the famous potters of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, circa 1830-1855. The tureen is marked with the maker, J. Ridgway, and the pattern, Warwick, and is impressed with the English registrations. Underplate& lid are unmarked) The pattern name is"Warwick" which depicts the famous Warwick Castle and the River Avon. Beautiful blue color which has flowed somewhat, similar to flow blue. Underplate and tureen have twig and leaf shaped handles. Finial/knob of lid is in the form of a large flower bud. Measurements are as follows: Underplate is 15 5/8" long by 13 1/2" wide. Tureen/bowl is 12 1/4" by 10 1/2" across top. Footed base of tureen is 6 1/4" diameter; and it is 3 3/4" ... moretall without lid. Lid is 8 5/8" diameter at bottom and approximately 4 1/2" tall to top of finial. When put together, the total height is approximately 8 1/2" A large, stunning centerpiece for your table. Condition: Underplate has only minor wear and some light brownish discoloration on white area. And some light crazing. No chips, cracks or repairs. Tureen/bowl: Has a small chip on the underside of one handle; a couple of tiny fleabites on the top edge; one very small chip on bottom of base; some crazing and some brownish discoloration on white areas. Lid has a small chip underneath edge. A few light brown spots on underside. The flower bud finial has a stress crack(may have been a manufacturing flaw) on each side but does not go all the way around knob. Finial seems to be firmly attached. See last photo) NOTE: These flaws are all minor and very hard to see. This set is in very good condition for it's age. And is a beautiful and very rare, hard to find set in such fine condition. It rests on 4 feet and has ornate side handles and lidded finial. It measures 5.5" high and 7.5" wide from handle to handle. There are no chips or cracks. But there is overall crazing, some discoloration, and some fading of the gold accents and transfer print. There are no markings. A beautiful piece! Rare Transferware Staffordshire Childs Tureen or Sugar Bowl c 1840
This is a beautiful child's tureen or sugar bowl. C. 1840. It was originally part of a complete child's tea or dinner service. The dish is transfer printed with hand painted orange and yellow flowers. Green and brown leaves, and gold embellishment. There is a raised leaf pattern along the bottom rim of the base. It was possibly made by Minton in the Staffordshire region of England. There is a small'M' marked on the bottom. This piece is in very good condition for its age. Some of the brown transfer is a tiny bit worn. As is the gold embellishment. There is only one very small flake along the rim of the lid(see picture) There is some light crazing, but no other chips, flakes, cracks or repairs(to the best of my knowledge) It is approx. 3 3/4 inches from handle to handle. A Large Spode Staffordshire Pearlware Medium Dark Blue Transferware Tureen circa 1825 ~Spode Grasshopper Pattern with Lion Head Handles ~ 11" across inside the bowl. 13 1/2" long including the handles ~ 7 3/4" wide ~ stands almost 5" high A large lovely Spode tureen that would make a great centerpiece on a dining room table even though it is missing its lid. This pattern is very well printed and very decorative being derived from some sort of Chinese print with stylized flowers. Rocks, a bird and of course the grasshopper. The handles are also reminiscent of Chinese export pieces with ferocious lion heads which here are covered with Spodes unique tiny diaper pattern, the inside rim and footrim also are printed with different types of grid patterns. In excellent condition; I cannot find any faults. All the surfaces are ... moresmooth and glossy and this is wonderfully printed. The Park Scenery transferware blue pattern was produced from 1834 to 1848. This wonderful piece measures 13" in length, 9.25" in width and 9.75" in height. On the bottom of the tureen it is marked"Park Scenery- G Phillips- Longport) First. The Bad: There is some light crazing. There are some chips on the inside lip of the tureen(see above photos) There is some light wear on the handles of the tureen. The Very Good: There are no cracks and no breaks anywhere on the lid or tureen- the body and lid are sound. The flower handle on the lid is intact. The handles on the tureen body are also intact. VINTAGE BROWN TRANSFERWARE ELECTRIC GRAVY WARMER TUREEN
This is a vintage brown transfer ware electric gravy warmer tureen with a ladle. The pattern is unknown. It looks similar to the Johnson Bros blue nordic or Wood& Sons blue onion pattern. The electric tureen measures 7" wide and 7" tall. There are no chips or cracks in the bowl. Lid or ladle. The gravy warmer has been tested and is in good working condition.

Antique Adams English Scenic Tureen cranberry pink red transferware horse cow
English Scenic Adams Made in Staffordshire. England Absolutely gorgeous piece of English transfer ware! And we love everything about this piece! The color is beautiful. It shades from pink to cranberry to dark red. The shape is impressive- elegant large foot. Scalloped edges with ruffled rims, and a large flower-shaped finial on the lid. Most of all. We love the pattern. English Scenic depicts serene pastoral views with cows, horses and even a donkey in the forefront! Idyllic! Overall measures approximately 12" long x 10" wide x 9" to the top of the handle. Estate item- as found. Noting a tight hairline on the underside of the flared rim of the bowl- does not extend through to the top. Antique Pearlware Lid Welcome to my auction! For your consideration is a 19th century English pearlware pottery tureen lid. Transfer printed blue underglaze decorations with a lovely top finial. The underside shows areas of pooled cobalt in the glaze.very nice! This is a decorative piece by itself. Or it would be an ideal replacement lid for a transferware tureen. Measures approximately 4.5 x 6.25 inches(11.5 x 15.75 cm) The underside rim measures about 3.75 x 5.5 inches(9.5 x 14 cm) from the outer edges. Total height to the top of the lid finial is 2 inches(5 cm) Weight is 7.5 ounces. Condition: There is a shallow chip on the edge of the side opening and a few much tinier glaze chips on the rim edges and underside. There are also a few tiny. Early English Green Transferware Covered Sauce Tureen c. 1840
Offered for your consideration is this very early. C. 1840, English transferware covered sauce tureen with green floral decoration. I have owned this piece for many years and am still quite taken with its graceful shape, from its scalloped foot to its acanthus leaf handles, and bright green(famille verte) cabbage rose decoration. Except for a short hairline that has darkened with age. And some discoloration that has come from use and age on the interior(see photo) this piece is in rather remarkable condition given its inherent fragility and the fact that it is just a few decades short of its 200th birthday!
