This is a beautiful piece dating mid 19th Century 1864-1880. Measures 8-1/2" tall to the tip of the lid. Bowl 6-1/2" tall, 9" across. 6-3/4" at the base. The piece shows some wear: crazing. An Antique English Ceramic Creamware Pottery Covered Vegetable Dish with a domed top and molded puce enamel feather edge. The enamel decoration is in the manner of James Bakewell. The dish has an old collection sticker but is otherwise unmarked. Most likely. South Yorkshire, Leeds Pottery, c1790. CONDITION: This lovely covered dish has had restoration to some of the glaze wear on the rim; two haircracks restored on the lid and there is visible staining on the underside of the lid and the underside of the dish(see closeups) The staining is due to wear and use. There is also an interesting factory flaw. There is a tiny splash of cobalt blue on the lid that was done in the making. MEASUREMENTS: 6 1/2" High(with the lid on) and 12" Long. ANTIQUE ENGLISH EMPIRE STAFFORDSHIRE ART POTTERY BLUE BAND DODECAGON TUREEN BOWL
Up for auction is an Empire Porcelain Company Limited of Stoke on Trent. Staffordshire, England(Formerly Stoke, England 1896 to 1967) White Glazed Porcelain, 12 Sided(Dodecagon) Art Deco, Staffordshire Art Pottery Tureen or Serving Bowl with its Lid, Featuring Wide Bands of Colbalt Blue Trim and Gold Trim in"Excellent Plus" Used Condition, Date Coded as being Manufactured in August of 1932. This Art Deco tureen or covered dish is absolutely stunning with it's wide band cobalt blue trim and a bit of gold trim to go along with its dodecagon(12 sided) shape. It has no chips. Cracks, outside scratches, scuffs or repairs of any kind and I'm grading it as being in"Excellent Plus" condition because there are just a few minor glaze crazing lines on the bottom of the tureen and some of it's gold trim has worn away over ... morethe years as well. Glaze crazing can be very normal with any glazed pottery or porcelain which has some age to it. Worn away gold trim is also normal and when it comes to the gold trim most pottery factories applied it over the glaze so over time it can rub off and wear away. If you use the"Supersize" and"Zoom" features I've provided with the pictures you'll be able to see where some of the gold is now very faint or completely missing. Interestingly enough if you"Super Size" picture 11 showing you a close up view of the maker's mark you can see one of the glaze crazing lines going across the ink stamp mark and please remember the glaze crazing is isolated to the bottom only. There are also a few factory flaws which consist of tiny dark specks within the white glaze in a few places and this can be considered normal for white glazed pottery from this era. Lastly if you look at picture 12 you can see a small and very faded blue cloud which is within the glaze and probably got there when the decorating department applied the cobalt blue bands. This is a very beautiful Antique White Porcelain Tureen with brown leaves painted on the lid and sides. It is made in England by John Maddock& Sons. The hallmark is clearly on the bottom. The bowl measures 7.5" x 9.5" rectangle with a 6' x 4' base. The lid is 9'5" x 6.5" and sits firmly on the bowl. it is embellished with gold painting. There is no ladel. Antique English J. Clementson Sydenham Ironstone Transferware Oval Lidded Tureen. Circa 1936-1842, I believe, made before Clementson's British Registry Mark had been approved. It is a very early piece, marked only with the incised number 36 on the bottom. Very early wares had been unmarked, marked after 1839. This wonderful piece was found in the attic of a very old house. It was wrapped in a crumbling newspaper dated 1880. Tureen. As well as the lid are in very good condition, with the exception of an old tight crack and some wear to the bowl's rim. There are3 tilt marks inside of the bowl, occasional pin size imperfections and tiny black specks. Gorgeous deep blue transferware. Underglaze cobalt blue with overglaze reds, peach and gold decorations. Made in England during the mid-19th century, around 1840. No discernible maker's marks, but this could be Davenport. The tureen and stand both have the number"2622" on the undersides. Impressed"6" or"9" on the tureen. Impressed letter"H" and number"4" on the stand. All pieces have other tiny markings and/or blue dots. The tureen's height is approximately 3.4 inches(8.5 cm) without the lid. Height is 5.75 inches(14.5 cm) with the lid. The entire tureen with lid is 11" from handle to handle and 7" tall with cover grasp. The handles and rims of both the bowl and covers are accented gold. The ladle is missing. This tureen measures 12" by 7" by 8" high. Other than a few chips around the opening where the ladle would stick out and some minor crazing. It is in good used condition. The bottom is stamped with the maker's name and there is a number incised as well which I find difficult to read. It dates from 1881-1887 which is in the Victorian era of England. ANTIQUE ENGLISH SAUCE TUREEN UNDERPLATE IMARI - REPAIRED HANDLE - LION HEADS -
This is a beautiful old sauce tureeen from England. The lidded tureen sits about 6.5" tall and the matching underplate measures about 7.5" in diameter. There are no maker's marks at all on either the plate or the tureen. Decoration is lovely. Especially, the wonderful painted lion faces on the handles as shown in the photos above. Iron red, deep blue, and gold are commonly referred to as"Imari" decoration. There is a 1" hairline on the underplate(see above photo) One handle on the tureen has been repaired and is very stable. Some crazing. Lid needs to be turned to find the place it best rests. Design paint is in fabulous. Bright condition and surface is shiny. All that said, this is a lovely old piece. This is a large antique white ironstone tureen in good condition. There is a large chip on the top edge. If it wasn't for the chip. This tureen would be near MINT! A couple tiny glaze fleabites around the opening of the lid, but otherwise there are no other chips, cracks, or crazing. Super clean and shiny and it still displays GREAT! It is marked T&R Boote on bottom with an English registry mark dating it to 1861. It is approx. 14 1/2in. across at the handles. Looks like perhaps the fig union pattern? Although it's only marked as"Ironstone" in the underside of the platter. This small set bears all the characteristics of a Mason's piece. It's Imari ornamentation is rare because it includes a beautiful turquoise aside from the more traditional red, orange, green and blue. This I can assure: it's a focal point in any kitchen or any other room. However I should also point out that it seems the tureen was repaired at some time in the past, for a part of its interior is flaking, and there's a 2" long crack inside the tureen as well that seems to be a result of the firing( Height: 6" from the bottom of the platter to the finial of the tureen- width: 7 1/2" from handle to handle and 8 3/4" for the platter- depth: 5 1/2" for the tureen and 6 1/2" for the platter. The tureen has a floral pattern and it is made of white porcelain with cobalt blue decoration on the outside. The lid. Tureen, and underplate feature applied acorns and oak leaves which form the handles for the top of the lid and sides of the tureen and underplate. The bottom of the tureen and underplate are marked with the Worcester crescent moon trademark, and overall the tureen stands about 5 1/8" tall while measuring about 7 5/8" in diameter. There is minimal rubbing to the rims, standard light scratches on the interior of the tureen and undertray, and the trademarks are easy to read. The gravy/sauce tureen and its matching underplate are completely handpainted. They are painted light green and accented with thick gilding and pierce work. They are also ornately decorated with beautiful handpainted floral decorations. The centerpiece for both pieces features a handpainted English countryside scene. There is a notch for a ladle on the lid. This wonderful set was made in England between 1825-1850. Spode or Davenport are the probable makers. The tureen and lid are in wonderful condition. Antique English Porcelain covered sauce tureen decorated with the Imari pattern. Numbered on the bottom in red 446 but no maker's mark. Possibly Chelsea or Derby. Circa late 18th Century early 19th Century. MEASUREMENTS: The tureen stands 4-1/2 inches tall 7-1/4 inches from handle to handle and 4-1/4 inches wide.
