Stoke-on-Trent, operated by Enoch Wedgwood(a distant relation of Josiah Wedgwood I) and his younger brother Jabez According to Jewitt's- Ceramic Art of Great Britain 1800-1900"These were large and important manufactories of general earthenware. Situated in Amicable Street and Great Woodland Street, they were succeeded by Wedgwood& Co, the head of the firm being Enoch Wedgwood. The works were very extensive and gave employment to six or seven hundred persons, occupied an area of about an acre of ground and were among the most substantially built and best arranged in the pottery district. The goods produced were the higher classes of earthenware. In which dinner, tea, breakfast, desert, toilet and other services, and all the usual miscellaneous articles were made to a very considerable extent, for the home, Colonial, Continental and American markets. The quality of the"Imperial Ironstone China" the staple production of the firm- was of remarkable excellence. Both in body and glaze. The tureen has the deep Flo blue flowers on white base and elaborate handle on the lid. The tureen. The lid and the underplate have laced rims. The colors still are bright and vibrant. The tureen is 8 1/2" b 6" at the rim and it is 6 1/2" high to the top of the lid. The under dish is 8" by 5 1/2" the ladle is 7" long. They all have nice blue flowers. The under dish and the tureen are marked with impressed Wedgwood and Co- s tandard name-mark used alone or incorporated in printed marks. Printed blue mark that dates the set c 1890- 1906 There is one small chip on the lid of the tureen and two small chips on the ladle. Otherwise the set is free of chips, cracks or crazing. This two handled covered tureen with footed base has beautiful hand painted black designs with bas-relief scroll work near bottom. It is just lovely Antique work. Made by s.f. company( that s. fielding) in Stafford-shire England. The cover lift lid has some damage to the pottery as the last picture will show. This I believe can be easy to repair. you can at the time turn the cover around while on display and wont notice then, Except a minor chip caused by the larger chip. you can say chip on both sides, one is very small. Soft pink rose on one side and white rose edged in soft pink on the other side. Extremely pale soft pastel blue/green above each rose and on the gold trimmed lid. This color is so pale it almost disappears in some lighting. Gold decorative band runs around the center of dish with a ring of raised gold beads, lovely texture change. I don't see any chips or cracks. Estimated age: 1885-1935, info is limited on this German company. I acquired this from an estate, I was told it belonged to the mother of the elderly lady. This is truly an exquisite antique transferware covered large oval serving dish. The handle is painted to look like a twisted branch with a pair of leaves and raised"grapes" on one side and a raised leaf on the other side. The handles have raised leaves and a bunch of grapes with little"twists" like a grape vine. The decoration has flowers and swags of leaves. Etc. An absolutely outstanding example of antique transferware. The inteior of the bowl is slightly discolored due to age and there is one miniscule nick at the rim-we have photographed, but very very small. No cracks that we can find. The mark on the bottom is hard to read, but looks like"capetani" with a"P" underneath-mayber an"M 78" and an impressed"H" Lovely hard to find piece of blue and white transferware. About 13 1/2" ... morefrom handle to handle and about 6" to the top of the"twig" handle. 7 1/2" across. There are small scratches on the outside from use. Antique China COVERED SOUP TUREEN Maidenhair Ferns
This lovely soup tureen with lid has an embossed pattern trimming the rim. The handle, and the feet. The scalloped edge of the lid and base makes for a delicate appearance, as do the green ferns and berries that adorn it and the soft fluted shape of the vessel. It is in excellent condition, but for a small 1/4 inch chip on the rim of the lid(see photo) From tips of handles, it is 11.5" long. It is about 8" at the widest, and 4" tall. The lid, with the finial/ handle adds about 3" more to the height. I also have available the large sugar bowl that matches this tureen, though without the lid; please send me a note if you are interested and want me to post it.

Antique One-of-a-Kind Greek Covered Bowl with Embossed Gladiators on Lid This sale is for a Very Unique. One-of-a-kind Covered Bowl, created and hand painted in Greece in the 1960s. The Bowl, and Lid are Ceramic and fit perfectly together. The entire piece is 8 inches in diameter and 5 inches tall. This is a Gorgeous Piece. One that will appeal to the Collector as well as someone just looking for a unique piece to show off. It was entirely hand painted. The base color is a Flat Black with White trim around the bottom edge of the lid and around the handle. The Bowl portion is Flat Black. But is encircled with Off White Rounded Triangle designs. The underside has a hand printed message that reads“ Hand Made in Greece” The Lid is the unique part of this piece. It is also Flat Black in color. But instead of being smooth like the Bowl, the Lid ... morehas(4) raised Horse and Gladiator figures. Two(2) of these figures, show a pair of Bucking White Stallions, pulling a Golden Chariot. Inside the Chariot is a Roman Gladiator, complete with Spear and Shield, looking at a roman slave, who is barely hanging on. The other(2) figures depict a third White Stallion. Being handled by two slaves, one in a Blue sash and the other in Pink. At the very edge of the Lid, or either side, is a Roman Gladiator Helmet, Sword and shield, just lying there as if their owner was just vanquished on the field of battle! This piece was purchased in Greece and an art shop and hand carried back to the States. It is in Excellent condition and the colors are still vibrant. There are NO cracks. Chips or Damage of an kind, however, there is some rubbing on the inside edge where the Lid and Bowl meet as well as on the underside when it rests on a table. These are simply from age and storage. The inside of the Lid is flawless, while the inside of the bowl does have some marks where the paint has flaked off. I have taken photos of the actual piece you are bidding on. An Antique English Ceramic Creamware Pottery Covered Vegetable Dish with a domed top and molded puce enamel feather edge. The enamel decoration is in the manner of James Bakewell. The dish has an old collection sticker but is otherwise unmarked. Most likely. South Yorkshire, Leeds Pottery, c1790. CONDITION: This lovely covered dish has had restoration to some of the glaze wear on the rim; two haircracks restored on the lid and there is visible staining on the underside of the lid and the underside of the dish(see closeups) The staining is due to wear and use. There is also an interesting factory flaw. There is a tiny splash of cobalt blue on the lid that was done in the making. MEASUREMENTS: 6 1/2" High(with the lid on) and 12" Long. Bowl is 9“ in circumference not including handles. It is made of earthenware. It is a lovely hand painted piece with blue delft painted flowers around the lid& the top of the vegetable bowl. Problems I see with the piece are crazing like crazy, a small chip on the outside of the lid, a smaller chip on outer inside of the lid, a couple of flea bites on lid edge& blurring of some of the blue painting. This auction is for a Rare Matching Pair of Antique White Ironstone Covered Oval Vegetable Bowls made by EB Stone China in the mid to late 1800s. They are in good condition especially for their age. Both lids have crazing as is expected from ironstone of this era. One point of one Body Handle has a small chip(see last photo) One prong of that same handle also has a hairline(see photo 11) The handle is solid. There are no other chips or cracks in the two pieces. It is very hard to find matching covered vegetable bowls in this condition from this era. The bottom of both bowls are marked with a seven pointed star backstamp with"E.B. Stone China" inside. With the lids on. Each bowl measures 6 1/4 inches tall and they are about 11 1/2 inches long. Up for sale we have a most beautiful Caneware Victorian Game Pie Dish on Tray. This covered Yelloware casserole dish has historical significance as a dish used to house filling without wheat or flour to make the crust. And what a beautiful pie crust it is. This was done due to the Wheat shortage from the Napoleonic War when England did not have grain. They used these dishes to make kidney pie as well as fruit filled dishes. That is why the edge resembles Pie Crust. A glorious yellow ware color. Befitting the adorable chicks on the top cover. They are hatching out of their shells amidst a wheat bed of full flowered grain. The Tureen has had restoration before we aquired it. The one chick's head appears to have been the focal point of the restoration. However it is very professional and there is no crack or chips that tell what was. There ... moreare also a couple of flea bits on a couple of the shells. They really look part of the picture of the cracked open eggs. Then there is a half moon crack going nowhere on the edge of the tray. Overall the covered dish and tray look mint. But we are selling As Is with imperfections due to its Antiquity& soft paste nature. This Victorian treasure has been kept for years by those who knew how wonderful it is. The covered dish measures 7 1/2" tall by 7" in dia. The tray is about 9" across. It is marked on the bottom with a large"E& W" and the number 193. We are not sure of the maker of this great dish. Wedgwood produced the Caneware Game Pie Dishes in the Mid 19th century. But those dishes have always been marked with the Wedgwood impressed mark. As far as we know. We believe this to be from the Les Islettes factory but we will call it Faience de L'Est which is a general term for the faience that was made in the east of France and blankets many diffrent factories. This beautiful lidded dish is totally hand painted with beautiful flowers and roses. It has the"combing" that is typical of the Les Islettes factory. It sits on four fabulous leaf feet that come up together to make the handles. The lid has molded and applied vegetables in the Palissy manner. It features 2 leeks. Several types of mushrooms, peas in a pod and a carrot, gorgeous hand painted flowers and"combing" all the way around. Up for sale is an Antique Green on White Transferware Covered Tureen or Casserole Dish. This might even be a soap dish. The item is unusual in that it has a manufactured hole in the top for venting. The handles are shaped like wooden logs. This has a Oriental countryside and floral design in green around the sides and top and bottom of lid. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is just slight wear to the design. It does have a molded hallmark on the bottom. But it is just a mixture of letters and I do not recognize it. 18th C Antique Meissen/ Ludwigsburg Porcelain Covered Bowl- 4 Watteau Scenes You are bidding on a truly exquisite masterpiece of modelling and painting in this beautiful 18th Century(mark from 1764) Antique Ludwigsburg or early 19th Century Meissen Covered Tureen or Bola Bowl. The bowl is 8 inches tall to the top of the darling little boy& girl figurines having a picnic. And 8.25 inches in diameter. The modelling is fabulous and could be Meissen( in fact the piece could be Meissen as Georg Kittel's X trademark is present. Georg Kittel was one of the early Meissen craftsman- early 1800's) with details allowing one to pick up the cover using the little figurines. There are 2 Watteau style paintings on the bowl and also 2 on the cover along with 2 floral bouquets on each, all done in masterful detail( please look at the many photos ... moreto appreciate its beauty) The quality of the porcelain is like crystal, one tap and it verberates for a long time. The porcelain has a swirled effect with a basket weave trim on both the cover and the bowl with a thin gilded line around both pieces. The mark on the bottom is a blue back to back"C's" similar to the Cartier trademark with Pommels under glaze and used by Ludwigsburg in 1764 to 1824. The"X" above this mark could be the Painter or modeller's mark. A famous Meissen painter, Georg Kittel also used the"X" to identify his works. Here is a fabulous antique English blue and white transferware tureen with no markings. The lid has been professionally repaired. One can really only tell by the reglazing on the inside and very clever touch up to the flowers and swan I think, really hard to discern in my opinion. One lion has an old hairline and there are several pit marks and signs of wear. Also one tiny white spot which may be a drip of paint or clay when it was restored but I cannot remove, it is flat and a perfect tiny circle. Please look at all of the pictures. I tried to show more of the wrinkles but also enjoy the beauty of this fine tureen. It measures almost 11" across and about 14" including the lions head handles. It is about 4 3/4" deep and the opening is approximately 8" x 11" Adding the lid makes it stand about 10" high and without ... morethe lid it is about 6" high from the base.
