Lovely Powell & Bishop White Ironstone Tureen or Covered Vegetable Bowl c1867
This auction is for a Lovely White Ironstone Tureen or Covered Vegetable Bowl made by Powell& Bishop of Staffordshire England circa 1867. The piece is in good condition. Especially for its age. The lid has straight line crazing on its finial and a small spot on its outer rim that appears to have been glazed over or touched up(see last photo) It is a good job and I almost missed it. The body has fine even crazing and toning in spots including the rim and a toned crazing mark on one side(see next to last photo) It is not a hairline as it doesn't go through to the inside. The bowl has the Powell& Bishop Crown and Ribbon backstamp. Which dates the piece to between 1867 and 1878. With the lid on. I acquired this tureen at an estate sale. I do not know its history. Maker, or manufacture date. It is not marked on the bottom. It is in great condition and looks newer, so I hesitate to call it an antique but I really don't know. Stands about 9" tall and is about 10.5" wide. VERY good condition except for teeny tiny chip on inner rim of the bowl. Any other imperfections seem original to the piece/normal. A heavier item for shipping.

White Ironstone Covered Tureen Serving / Vegetable Dish T&R Boote Sydenham Shape
We are offering a white ironstone covered serving dish in the Sydenham Shape by T&R Boote. The lid and the base have the diamond-shaped registry mark that matches. The base has an additional“CD” mark that is not on the lid. The lid has a mark of four small squares that form a larger square that is not on the base. The lid fits the base but it is not a perfect fit. The lid also has 4 different areas that have been repaired; only one area is visible on the outside. The base has a shallow chip on the underside of one of the scallops that is approximately 1 inch in length. A small area of roughness is on the edge that is approximately ½ inch in length. Inside the bowl is a small stress fracture and the small dark spots found in early pieces. The flaws do not detract from this beautiful early piece of ironstone perfect for display. The ... moresize is approximately 10 ¾” diameter and 9 ¾” high to the top of the finial. The bowl without the lid is approximately 5 ½” high. Please ask questions. Features a nice brown transferware pattern with very pale blue and pink flowers. The ornate handles have been decorated with gilt. The dish measures about 11" long, 7 1/2" wide and is 5 1/2" tall. In wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The interior of the dish is showing 3 dark glazing stilt marks and the inside of the cover is showing a thin line(crack-like) that is due to manufacturing. for more great items! This particular mark was used by Anna Leonard, who also had decorating studios in Denver, Colorado and Louisville, Kentucky, as well as Martha's Vineyard after 1909. Charles Meakin Warranted Royal Ironstone China covered vegetable server. Charles Meakin made pottery in Burslem from 1870-1882. This server measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" and 12" from handle to handle. The base is 4" deep and the piece measures 7" to the top of the lid. It is in excellent condition despite its age of over 140 years. It has a small imperfection in the glaze on the lid which leaves a spot about 1/8" in diameter without glaze. It has one small chip on the inside rim of the base. No other chips. Details: 1 Soup Tureen with Lid and Ladle: This is an especially rare find being that the entire Tureen is intact with lid and ladle. The Lid is in good to excellent condition. Viewing from the top it is fully intact with no chips or scratches. Not visible but can be felt is a hairline crack that can be seen on the underside. This runs from the cut out for the ladle for about 2 inches. The transferware is overall clear and bright ... morewith a small area surrounding the pattern and bird art work that appears a little fussy and more than likely from manufacturing. The underside of the lid two small chips. One in each corner, the hairline crack as mentioned above and noted crackling to the glaze. Over all it should be noted that this lid is still in good to excellent condition. It is stamped with the Ridgways bow& quiver, Devonshire. Rd No 2302, Rd No 688. Length: 11& ½” ~ Width: 7& ¾” The Ladle is in good to excellent condition The handle has been repaired just above the ladle bowl. This is not immediately apparent. There is a crackling to the glaze and discoloration in the bowl and about 3& ½” up the handle. The discoloration gives off the appearance that it was caused by sitting in hot food/ soup being there is a definite line of where it ends. There is an embossed leaf design on the end of the handle. There are no other markings. It fits nicely into the tureen and gives the feeling that this is the original ladle that came with this tureen. Length: 11” Bowl Diameter: About 4& ¼” Bowl Depth: About 1& ¼” The Dish is in good to excellent condition with one disc

It is unmarked other than an impressed 1 and a couple of unidentifiable incised marks. I date to say that it is of British/European origin. Overall condition is great with no chips or cracks to make note of and only a slight amount of wear to the decoration. Measures 9 3/4" by 6 3/4" across the center(widest) points of the top edge. The artwork is lovely and the colors are vivid. Manufactured by the French China Company(later known as Sebring Manufacturing Corp. in Ohio which ended all production in 1932. Nicely shaped tureen or large covered vegetable dish. Unknown maker. Lightly impressed mark but too faint to read. Looks to be late 1800s. Tureen is approximately 6.5 inches tall and opening is approx. 7 inches by about 9.5 inches. One of the handles has an underside chip that is nearly invisible from the top or side. Just from underneath. Typical imperfections of ironstone of this era. Including surface age crazing, discoloration, manufacturing glaze imperfections and inclusions. Meakin& Co. covered ironstone vegetable server or tureen. This ironstone dish measures 12" from handle to handle and 7" from tabletop to the top of the handle on the lid. It is heavy ironstone pottery manufactured early in the 19th century(1800's) as indicated by the maker's mark which is both impressed and printed under the glaze. The dish is in fine condition having no cracks or discoloration. It has a fine crazing on the surface and a very small chip under the rim of the lid which can be found by running your fingers around the edge. English Antique Covered Tureen Vegetable Dish~Blue Transferware Border~Handles~
ID 2013 Description: This auction is for a Very Early English China Tureen/Covered Vegetable Dish with a soft stepped pedestal. There are no markings. But there are numbers, handwritten in gold on the backside. The tureen is 5 3/4" high to top of the Lid Knob. It is 10 3/4" from Tab Handle to Tab Handle. The bowl is 8 1/4" in diameter. With the LID OFF. The dish is 3" high. We have found NO chips or nicks or cracks. But we do see very light crazing, and gold loss on the Lid and bands, and handles. There are grease or butter stains to inside of the bowl. But this is not considered a flaw, but a characteristic of old china. There are also ash pops from the kiln firing, and kiln marks on the bottom of the soft pedestal. The Blue Transferware Border is on both pieces. And has cartouches with blue and yellow roses inside. Cherry eyes and lettuce leaf ears, celery for front legs, a pineapple body, a cabbage rump and tail and a carrot ladle. This piece is not marked Vietri. It is signed"Italy" Perhaps from whence Vietri's recent version of this whimsical piece originated. In wonderful condition. The only flaw that I can detect is the nibbled edge of the ladle.
