This is a beautiful antique sauce tureen- mark on bottom is a seated dog and Semi-porcelain and E.M. Co. Edge Malkin& Co. New Port Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire. Dates from around 1890-1900. Pattern shows curlicues of flow blue with gold embellishment along with a transfer of daisy-like flowers-in red and yellow- possibly mums or nastershums- not sure. I do not know the pattern name but it is lovely. It is probably for vegetables or sauce. Has nice applied ornate handles. Normal manufacturing flaws but no cracks, chips or discolor. Passaic Falls, State of New Jersey" Enoch Wood, England, c. 1819-1846. This beautiful Staffordshire tureen is transfer printed in dark blue on white pearlware. This is a rare American Historical Staffordshire Gravy Tureen Base showing a view of Passaic Falls. State of New Jersey from Enoch Wood& Sons Shell Border Series, c. 1825. This lot is JUST the tureen base: no lid, no under tray and no ladle. It has a very dramatic dark blue transfer of the Falls of the ... morePassaic River in Northern New Jersey. The shells that give the series its name can be found around the base-rim and around the top rim, both inside the tureen and outside. Molded handles with loops in extremely dark cobalt blue. The Passaic Falls base makes an excellent display piece. Or use it as an open serving bowl. The transfer is crisp and clear and the color exceptionally strong. Interestingly, Passaic Falls is both beautiful and historically significant: located in what is now Patterson, NJ, the Fall played a major role in the early Industrial development of both the United States and the State of New Jersey. Alexander Hamilton visited the site in the 1790s and thought it would be a good location for a planned industrial community(which never materialized) The Falls did provide power to some of New Jersey's earliest mill sites. Jeffrey Snyder includes the view in his book Historical Staffordshire: American Patriots and Views(p. 133) and both David Arman and Sam Laidacker list the tureen in their books on American Historical Staffordshire. STAFFORDSHIRE ART POTTERY BLUE BAND 12 SIDE ANTIQUE ART DECO TUREEN BOWL 1932 A+
Up for auction is a Marked Empire Porcelain Company Limited of Stoke on Trent. Staffordshire, England(Formerly Stoke, England 1896 to 1967) White Glazed Porcelain Pottery, Dodecagon(12 Sided) Art Deco, Pottery, Antique Tureen or Serving Bowl with its Lid, Featuring Wide Bands of Colbalt Blue Trim and Gold Trim in"Excellent Plus" Used Condition, Date Coded as being Manufactured in August of 1932. This Art Deco tureen or covered dish is absolutely stunning with it's wide band cobalt blue trim and a bit of gold trim to go along with its dodecagon(12 sided) shape. It has no chips. Cracks, outside scratches, scuffs or repairs of any kind and I'm grading it as being in"Excellent Plus" condition because there are just a few minor glaze crazing lines on the bottom of the tureen and some of it's gold trim has worn away ... moreover the years as well. Glaze crazing can be very normal with any glazed pottery or porcelain which has some age to it. Worn away gold trim is also normal and when it comes to the gold trim most pottery factories applied it over the glaze so over time it can rub off and wear away. If you use the"Supersize" and"Zoom" features I've provided with the pictures you'll be able to see where some of the gold is now very faint or completely missing. Interestingly enough if you"Super Size" picture 11 showing you a close up view of the maker's mark you can see one of the glaze crazing lines going across the ink stamp mark and please remember the glaze crazing is isolated to the bottom only. There are also a few factory flaws which consist of tiny dark specks within the white glaze in a few places and this can be considered normal for white glazed pottery from this era. Lastly if you look at picture 12 you can see a small and very faded blue cloud which is within the glaze and probably got there when the decorating department applied the cobalt blue bands. ~ Stately ~ This very large soup tureen is complete with its underplate and lid. It was made by Charles Meigh. Old Hall Pottery, Hanley, North Staffordshire, England. The combination of the marks dates the production between 1835 and 1849. The pattern is Athens. It has a black transfer that is highly detailed. It is basically oval but it is eight sided. The handles and finial are quite elaborate. It came from a local estate with a very nice collection of antiques. It was proudly displayed on a sideboard. It is not perfect. But considering that is is pre-civil war, its condition is very good. Condition: No chips. Overall crazing mostly clean. It is slightly shadowy on the outside. The inside has more staining. RARE VINTAGE POSSIBLY IMARI TUREEN. LID, LADLE& TRAY ASIAN ORIENTAL CHINESE JAPANESE This is a Rare. Elegant, and Beautiful Asian, Oriental, Chinese, or Japanese Tureen complete with Lid, Base, Ladle and Tray that is appears to be in Imari Color scheme– I am no export and have come to this conclusion after much research here on EBay of patterns and colors. It is Rectangle in Shape with a Scalloped Gilded Rim. It appears to me to be hand painted but not sure. The pattern includes Pagodas. Trees, Boats, Flowers, symbols, and Letters(may have some meaning but I just could not find with my limited knowledge of how to research this) see pictures for details of pattern. The Lid has a cut out slot for the ladle. Stamped on bottom of Tureen itself looks like a 7 then 41h4– see picture. The Lid measures approx. 6” long and 5” wide. The Tray measures ... moreapprox. 7 1/4” long and 6” wide. The Ladle measures approx. 7” long and 3” in diameter. The Tureen itself measures approx. 8 1/2” long from one end of handle to the other handle end. 51/4” wide at mouth, 5 1/2”tall bottom to tip of lid handle, and 6” tall when on tray from bottom tray to tip of lid handle. This Gorgeous Tureen is in Pristine Condition with little wear to gilding and color and some crazing throughout that would be normal considering possible age. This Rare. Ironstone Earthenware from Great Britain 2 items for sale A White Tureen with Lid( no under plate or ladle) and A Vegetable Dish with Vented Dish inside and Lid Measurements are: 5 1/2" long. 4 3/4" tall, 4 1/4" wide The Marks on the bottom tells exactly when they were manufactured. For a fact the Veg. Dish was on the day of 19th in the year 1869 The Tureen which is more difficult to read was also manufactured the same year. ANTIQUE EMPIRE PORCELAIN ENGLAND BLUE BAND 12 SIDED ART DECO TUREEN BOWL 1932 A+
I'm offering for sale and considering offers for a Marked Empire Porcelain Company Limited of Stoke on Trent. Staffordshire, England(Formerly Stoke, England 1896 to 1967) White Glazed Porcelain Pottery, Dodecagon(12 Sided) Art Deco, Pottery, Antique Tureen or Serving Bowl with its Lid, Featuring Wide Bands of Colbalt Blue Trim and Gold Trim in"Excellent Plus" Used Condition, Date Coded as being Manufactured in August of 1932. This Art Deco tureen or covered dish is absolutely stunning with it's wide band cobalt blue trim and a bit of gold trim to go along with its dodecagon(12 sided) shape. It has no chips. Cracks, outside scratches, scuffs or repairs of any kind and I'm grading it as being in"Excellent Plus" condition because there are just a few minor glaze crazing lines on the bottom of the tureen and some ... moreof it's gold trim has worn away over the years as well. Glaze crazing can be very normal with any glazed pottery or porcelain which has some age to it. Worn away gold trim is also normal and when it comes to the gold trim most pottery factories applied it over the glaze so over time it can rub off and wear away. If you use the"Supersize" and"Zoom" features I've provided with the pictures you'll be able to see where some of the gold is now very faint or completely missing. Interestingly enough if you"Super Size" picture 11 showing you a close up view of the maker's mark you can see one of the glaze crazing lines going across the ink stamp mark and please remember the glaze crazing is isolated to the bottom only. There are also a few factory flaws which consist of tiny dark specks within the white glaze in a few places and this can be considered normal for white glazed pottery from this era. Lastly if you look at picture 12 you can see a small and very faded blue cloud which is within the glaze and probably got there when the decorating department applied the cobalt blue bands. vintage RARE Thomas China soup tureen , Germany post WWII, floral on white
This is a lovely covered porcelain soup tureen made by Thomas China Company of Bavaria. In post-WWII Germany. It is dated 1946, and there is the number"7051" which appears to be the pattern number. The maker's mark as shown was used only between 1946-49. I do not know the name of this particular pattern and I do not have any other items in this pattern. The bowl measures about 8-1/2 inches across without the handles. About 10 inches with the handles, and about 3 inches tall. The cover adds about 2-1/2 inches of height on top of the bowl. Both the cover and the bowl are in excellent condition for the age. There are no chips. Cracks or scratches, and the glaze does not appear to have any crackling. There is some wear on the gold on the handles and rim of the bowl. This would make a fabulous gift for a wedding. Housewarming, anniversary ... moreor any other special occasion for a food lover. Quite rare in any antique transferware pattern. 4 matched pieces in the Aesthetic pattern, 3 for certain, and I am assured, although markless, the spoon is original to this group) all in very nice condition, here 135 years after they were made. Note small chip off bottom of platter, light and even ice type crackle on the surface, near invisible, a beginning hairline inside the tureen near the handle, see the close up, two very small flecks on the perforated ladle where it attaches to the wooden handle, with light darkening to the surface of the platter; a bit more prominent inside of the tureen. Overall, the decorations are brilliant, this is a massive and impressive display piece, standing 11 inches tall, and 16.5 inches at the widest of the platted. This Wonderful Antique White Ironstone Small Tureen was made by Turner and Tomkinson in ca. 1870 in Tunstall. England. The pattern name is WHEAT AND CLOVER. And it is wonderful in its detail and design, which includes wheat, clover leaves and ribbon bows. The mold print is exceptional, as can be appreciated from the photographs. The tureen is in excellent condition. With no chips, cracks or repairs. There is light uniform crazing on the bowl only. But nothing defacing or objectionable. There is no discoloration. 2 Rare Matching Antique White Ironstone Covered Vegetable Bowls EB Stone China
This auction is for a Rare Matching Pair of Antique White Ironstone Covered Oval Vegetable Bowls made by EB Stone China in the mid to late 1800s. They are in good condition especially for their age. Both lids have crazing as is expected from ironstone of this era. One point of one Body Handle has a small chip(see last photo) One prong of that same handle also has a hairline(see photo 11) The handle is solid. There are no other chips or cracks in the two pieces. It is very hard to find matching covered vegetable bowls in this condition from this era. The bottom of both bowls are marked with a seven pointed star backstamp with"E.B. Stone China" inside. With the lids on. Each bowl measures 6 1/4 inches tall and they are about 11 1/2 inches long. Old Small 6" High Cameo Glass Footed Compote w/ Square Top & Equisite Detail!!
Beautiful 6" tall footed Cameo Glass Compote with square bowl on top. Pattern heavily embossed. I know this isn't milk glass. Because it has more of a'winter white' tone to it, and it seems almost'opaque' like you should be able to see through it, but the thickness obviously prohibits that. There is no makers' mark. The square bowl is 6" across. The thickness of the glass. At the most thin spots, is 3/16" At the thickest spots it is 5/16" The base contains exquisite detail, and is 4 1/8" across(both directions as it is square, also) This piece was never made to include a lid. There are no chips. Cracks, scratches, crush points, flakes that I can find anywhere on it, and I've gone over it with my loop. The mold lines are raised and crisp. Compote weighs a whopping 2 1/2 lbs. on its' ... moreown. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. Antique WH Grindley England Flow Blue Tureen Ashburton Pattern
This piece contains so many of the elements that have made flow blue popular and enduring thru generations. Although beautiful. It is sold"as is. I have tried to show the wear and tear that has occurred around the rim. There is one very small chip on the outside of the rim, but it is practically unnoticeable with the bleed of the blue beyond the depth of the chip. The photo accentuates the chip a little more than is visually seen in person. Please study the photos carefully, but even with the worn areas around the rim, I do not think you will be disappointed with this purchase. The Grindley pineapple trademark is printed on the base. Soup Tureen Ornate Lions Head German Stein Style Scenic Cities Castles Bridges
This Soup Tureen has 2 Lions Heads for handles and a Lion for a lid handle. It has scenes of German Castles. Cities, Bridges, Cathedrals, Grape Vines, etc(see pictures for more detail) that are depicted on the outside of the Tureeen. I am not an expert but it is my opinion this ornated Tureen is crafted in the same sturdy pottery ware style as some of the ornate German Steins you find in Antique stores everywhere. The Markings on the bottom read: Germany. 282 and 3L. I believe the 3 L stands for 3 Litre. The measurements are approximately 12" wide x 9" deep and 11" tall from the top of the lions head to the base and weighs just over 6# The colors are done in high gloss navy blue and semi gloss antique tan.
