This white ironstone tur een. With cover and under-plate has the impressed John Maddock mark on its bottom. It has no cracks, chips or repairs. The cover has some browning on one area of its rim. The rim of this tureen is 8 sided. It is 5 inches tall to the top of its rim. When its cover is off. With the cover on it is 8 inches tall to the top of the cover's shaped handle. It has a repeated shape pattern around the tureen, its cover and the under-plate. The plate is 8&1/2 inches across from handle tip to handle tip. The shipping weight is five-pounds. This is a very EARLY white ironstone sauce tureen made by John Proctor. Who potted in Longton, England from 1843-1846. It has a grape finial and grape clusters below the wood branch handles. Size: 7" tall. 6" across from handle to handle. Condition: pristine. With no flaws. Not even crazing. Great old blue-white color of early ironstone. It measures 8 ½ inches long; 4 3/4inches wide and 6 ½ inches tall. The glossy white glaze pools to a pale blue in the crevices. The handles are incurved C shapes. The mark John Maddock and Son is impressed on the underside edge of the base. There are no cracks. Repairs or discoloration or age related crazing. Some superficial scratches. Beautiful John Edwards ironstone covered dish with lions heads. As I understand. This is from between the 1850's and the 1870's. There is crazing, a hairline crack in the lid, a small chip in the rim and a hairline, and a couple of cracks by the handles that look like manufacturers defects. There are a few small discoloration spots and glaze imperfections. Despite the stated defects, this is a good looking dish as there are no large chips, cracks, or stains to detract. Considering the age, it is on excellent condition! Opening measures about 9" x 6.5" and is almost 4" tall without lid. Please inspect photos closely! Up for auction is a white ironstone Royal Pattern Diamond shaped registry mark covered toureen recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. The issues to report are a chip to the lid. Photo 2, stains spots in the interior, photo 6. None the less a beautiful smaller serving dish measuring a little less than 5.5 x 8" The lions ion the handles and lid are great with flour de lis around them. It is stamped with trade mark used before 1880 and the company has been in operation from 1847 to 1900. The tureen has printed in black under glaze the early trade mark and also is marked with pressed under glaze number"7" and"VICTORY" name and English Registry number"Rd 10937" I am not sure about the last 2 digits, can be also 07- see picture of the mark. The tureen has one very tiny flake on the foot- see picture. Very thick glaze body with some light crazing and few yellow dots. No cracks, or chips, or old repairs, no nicks, or other flakes.Unique executed handles of the square bowl and lid depicting two duck heads ... moreholding a bar/beam in the beaks. The lid has one place which is looking like a large cheap glazed by manufacturer. It is a serving spoon resting place. Size of the tureen: 9 3/4" long( measures with handles) 5" wide.
