Antique 1926 French China Co. "Martha Washington" Oval Vegetable Dish
Hi! Thank you for visiting my auction! To me some of my enjoyment in selling antiques is learning the history of a piece. The history gives them life. This is a"Martha Washington Oval Vegetable Dish" from French China Company. It is very fine. Very fragile china that was made 87 years ago. It was a monogrammed wedding gift, with the initial"L" on the lid and bowl amongst Victoria swag and roses. It has gold accents along the edges and on the handles. There is much crazing and some yellowing, due to its advanced age. Sometime in the past a portion was broken near one handle, and it was mended, but there is a tiny chip missing(see picture) The dish measures almost 12" from handle to handle, and 3" tall, without the lid. For historical background: The French China Co. came into being i n east Liverpool. Ohio, in ... more1899, then moved to Sebring, Ohio where it joined with other china manufacturing companies under the name Sebring Manufacturing Company in 1916. It was deemed the worlds largest producer of fine China at that time. The companies under the Sebring umbrella became American Chinaware Co. in 1929, but then the Great Depression came along and the company went bust. They have a earthenware flow blue type of consistency. There are some hairline cracks and minor chips- I pictured the worst chip.

We believe this to be from the Les Islettes factory but we will call it Faience de L'Est which is a general term for the faience that was made in the east of France and blankets many diffrent factories. This beautiful lidded dish is totally hand painted with beautiful flowers and roses. It has the"combing" that is typical of the Les Islettes factory. It sits on four fabulous leaf feet that come up together to make the handles. The lid has molded and applied vegetables in the Palissy manner. It features 2 leeks. Antique 19C. French Tureen Painted Flowers Crossed Swords Hallmark
Estate find antique French porcelain hand painted tureen with hand painted designs and flowers. Not sure of the age though seems to have many many years on it. The hallmark on the bottom I have not been able to identify though an expert told me that it was French made. It does have some issues like, one handle has been repaired, one foot has been repaired and the lid went through a war. It measures 13 1/2" across to handles. 11" high to lid, 7 5/8" depth. I have spent 2 days trying to find this mark, maybe if you are a collector you might know the maker. ANTIQUE OR VINTAGE QUAIL AND PASTRY FRENCH MEAT/PATE TUREEN Stamped"Mehun-Depose France" on the bottom. It is designed to look like pastry crust with the quail head displayed on the top. There is a large chip on the inside rim of the base. It is barely visible with the lid in proper position. There are some spots in the paint that appear lighter or to have worn due to age. Featured in this listing is a spectacular T& V Limoges large covered serving bowl which was produced and decorated in the Limoges. France factory in the early half of the 1900's. We are not familiar with this gorgeous pattern which includes floral sprays in varying shades of pink and blue hues along with the green foliage connected with a band of yellow& blue scroll work. Burnished gold was hand painted to the 3 handles as well as 3 bands surrounding as trim. The body of this piece is simple, round& elegant, flowing down seamlessly to a quatrefoil footed base. Beautiful antique tureen with the most delicate flower patten. and gold edging so typical of Limoges porcelain. So much decorative work here. the tureen is nicely shaped and the handles so ornate- I have tried to capture photo's to show you this. Look at the detail on the white around the sides and below the handles. A hole to one side allows you to keep your food warm and store the spoon. This has some considerable age to it end of 1800's or beginning of 1900's. There is only the mark'P' underneath- this was very common back in the days gone by and the real old French porcelain is not always marked with stamps. A magnificent old centre piece. In excellent condition for it's age. William Morris French Antique Blue/White Rectangular Transferware Tureen– Antique Serving Dishes A lovely and unusual antique rectangular shape tureen made out of off-white earthenware with delicate blue transferware patterns. Made by the‘ Faience Salins’ Company. Who was founded in 1857. This tureen probably dates from the 1880’s-1890 based on the pattern. There are two delicate circular patterns on the lid and on the sides as well as a matching leafy edging around the top and around the pedestal base. The tureen measures 11 ¼ inches from handle to handle and is 6 ½ inches wide. It stands 6 ½ inches high to the top of the knob. It is beautifully made with fine detailing even on the handles and is in overall excellent condition. No cracks and no ... morefissures. It is water tight and there is only one tiny chip on the inside edge of the lid, invisible when in place. The interior glaze is a bit age-stained but intact. Salins’ is stamped on the bottom base. The faiencerie de Gien stamp on base was used as of 1875. There is some wear/fading to the painted pattern portions, especially the gold side handles and lid handle. The 39 Roses Pattern bands around the edge of the lid and the widest part of the tureen. Antique white French"soupiere" Soup tureen. The stamp is"Terre de Fer. Hte Boulenger& Cie" used as of 1878. The company was directed by Hippolyte Hautin in association with Louis Boulanger as of 1836. In 1878 L. Boulanger's son. Also Hippolyte, took over the company and this stamp was used until his death in 1892. This soupière is at least 122 years old so it has a chip or two and very light hairline cracks. This is the same manufacture which produced the original Parisien Metro murals and tiles. Total height about 13" 12½" handle to handle and just over 9" across interior of bowl. A bite out of lid which looks like the hole for the ladle from a distance. Antique ceramic soupiè re from the famous J. Veillard manufacture in Bordeaux. Overall height about 10" About 12" across handles and almost 5½" across base. The J. Veillard& Cie. Bordeaux stamp on the base was used from 1829 to 1895, this is an old soupière. Apart from a minute chip under rim of lid and a darker mark nearby this tureen is in super used condition. A worn area on lid where the it has been lifted so often and a beige shadow.
