The handle is painted to look like a twisted branch with a pair of leaves ... moreand raised"grapes" on one side and a raised leaf on the other side. The handles have raised leaves and a bunch of grapes with little"twists" like a grape vine. The decoration has flowers and swags of leaves. Etc. An absolutely outstanding example of antique transferware. The inteior of the bowl is slightly discolored due to age and there is one miniscule nick at the rim-we have photographed, but very very small. No cracks that we can find. The mark on the bottom is hard to read, but looks like"capetani" with a"P" underneath-mayber an"M 78" and an impressed"H" Lovely hard to find piece of blue and white transferware. About 13 1/2" from handle to handle and about 6" to the top of the"twig" handle. 7 1/2" across. There are small scratches on the outside from use. William Morris French Antique Blue/White Rectangular Transferware Tureen– Antique Serving Dishes A lovely and unusual antique rectangular shape tureen made out of off-white earthenware with delicate blue transferware patterns. Made by the‘ Faience Salins’ Company. Who was founded in 1857. This tureen probably dates from the 1880’s-1890 based on the pattern. There are two delicate circular patterns on the lid and on the sides as well as a matching leafy edging around the top and around the pedestal base. The tureen measures 11 ¼ inches from handle to handle and is 6 ½ inches wide. It stands 6 ½ inches high to the top of the knob. It is beautifully made with fine detailing even on the handles and is in overall excellent condition. No cracks and no ... morefissures. It is water tight and there is only one tiny chip on the inside edge of the lid, invisible when in place. The interior glaze is a bit age-stained but intact. Salins’ is stamped on the bottom base. One side of the tureen is slightly more‘beigey’ probably from having been placed on a stove to keep the contents warm. A lovely. Small antique English soup tureen with lid and underplate. There is no mark, but this set is British and would date to the mid 1800's. The transferware pattern is the traditional blue and white Blue Willow. I purchased this at Hemswell Antique merchants in England, seven years ago. I love it, but just don't have a good place to display it. The set looks good together- but not sure if they started life together. Often, the underplates were separate. The underplate measures(approx. 7.5 x 6 inches, the tureen 7.25 x 4/5 inches. Great set! I will pack very carefully so it will reach you in good condition. This pattern is known and documented in the brown and cream and red however our research has found no mention or example of this pattern ever being produced in blue and white. The pattern in itself is scarce with very few pieces coming to the marketplace and I have only seen one other tureen in this pattern in the red. This tureen is in amazing condition with no chips. Nips, cracks or repairs and the transfer itself is almost completely intact with no noticeable loss of pattern or design. Estate found. 4 different antique ceramic-porcelain Gravy/ Soup Ladles various sizes from smallest to largest include~ blue/ white flower transfer ware scene with gold trim 2 1/4" x 2 5/8" x 6" total length, Blue/ White decorative trim inside the bowl 3" x 3" x 5 1/2" Victorian Blue/ White flowers 2 3/4" x 2 7/8" x 6" large flow blue ladle with three stripes on the curved handle 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" x 7" length. One tiny old nick on the rim of the smaller ladle bowl, but that's about it. All four ladles are still in very good condition.
