VINTAGE 1920's KUTANI NIKKO PORCELAIN PURPLE GOLD WISTERIA FLOWERS GRAVY BOAT SAUCE TUREEN I have had the honor of purchasing a gorgeous set of porcelain dinnerware that is in excellent(looks unused) condition. This auction is for one of those pieces; a covered gravy boat or saucer tureen with attached underplate. It is my understanding that this set was purchased. In Japan, in the late 1920's. There is a mark on the bottom that I cannot identify but I think it is either Kutani or Nikko(I would appreciate input on this) This gravy has a beautiful design of purple wisteria outlined in gold. It measures approximately 9" long(the under plate) x 4 3/4" high(to the top of the handle on the lid) x 5 3/4" wide. It is in very good condition and appears to have not been used. No cracks, chips, flakes, or crazing and I see no ... moreloss to the design or gold(if there is, it must be very minimal) Any flaws present, were done in the manufacturing process. Antique Vegetable server tureen circa 1900-1920 ND2869
Antique vegetable server or tureen circa 1900-1920. This pretty tureen measures 10" x 6 1/2" and is 3" deep. With the cover it stands 6" tall. It is made of a shiny white china and the finish is not marred. The primary decoration is of a vase or urn filled with trailing vines and blossoms. Earth tones in shades of brown, tan and orange. The same blossoms are repeated in clusters on the top and around the base. The handles and rim are highlighted in gold. There is some wear in the gilt on the handles from years of use. The maker's mark is an impressed number 1079 on the underside of the base that is difficult to see in a photo. Inside the lid there is a number 9887 handpainted under the glaze. You will also see our stock label in the photo! There is no name of a manufacturer or country of origin which means it was likely ... moremade in the United States. We dated it at early 1900s due to the lack of identification and the good condition. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or discoloration. The lid does have four(4) pin head size faults in the glaze.
