Lovely Powell & Bishop White Ironstone Tureen or Covered Vegetable Bowl c1867
This auction is for a Lovely White Ironstone Tureen or Covered Vegetable Bowl made by Powell& Bishop of Staffordshire England circa 1867. The piece is in good condition. Especially for its age. The lid has straight line crazing on its finial and a small spot on its outer rim that appears to have been glazed over or touched up(see last photo) It is a good job and I almost missed it. The body has fine even crazing and toning in spots including the rim and a toned crazing mark on one side(see next to last photo) It is not a hairline as it doesn't go through to the inside. The bowl has the Powell& Bishop Crown and Ribbon backstamp. Which dates the piece to between 1867 and 1878. With the lid on. White Ironstone Covered Tureen Serving / Vegetable Dish T&R Boote Sydenham Shape
We are offering a white ironstone covered serving dish in the Sydenham Shape by T&R Boote. The lid and the base have the diamond-shaped registry mark that matches. The base has an additional“CD” mark that is not on the lid. The lid has a mark of four small squares that form a larger square that is not on the base. The lid fits the base but it is not a perfect fit. The lid also has 4 different areas that have been repaired; only one area is visible on the outside. The base has a shallow chip on the underside of one of the scallops that is approximately 1 inch in length. A small area of roughness is on the edge that is approximately ½ inch in length. Inside the bowl is a small stress fracture and the small dark spots found in early pieces. The flaws do not detract from this beautiful early piece of ironstone perfect for display. The ... moresize is approximately 10 ¾” diameter and 9 ¾” high to the top of the finial. The bowl without the lid is approximately 5 ½” high. Please ask questions. It has a grape and vine motif, and the handles of the dish, and on the top of the cover are vines. It measures 12" by 8" and is 7" tall to the top of the handle. Perfect for display or use. This auction is for a Rare Matching Pair of Antique White Ironstone Covered Oval Vegetable Bowls made by EB Stone China in the mid to late 1800s. They are in good condition especially for their age. Both lids have crazing as is expected from ironstone of this era. One point of one Body Handle has a small chip(see last photo) One prong of that same handle also has a hairline(see photo 11) The handle is solid. There are no other chips or cracks in the two pieces. It is very hard to find matching covered vegetable bowls in this condition from this era. The bottom of both bowls are marked with a seven pointed star backstamp with"E.B. Stone China" inside. With the lids on. Each bowl measures 6 1/4 inches tall and they are about 11 1/2 inches long. This truly is a very old and early collector's piece. Although it has a few chips.there are NO cracks. NO linecracks and NO repairs. It is totally usuable and like most serious collectors, you might get those few minor chips repaired and it will be added to your collection for its early makers.or.IT JUST IS NOT WORTH IT SINCE YOU ONLY SEE ONE REALLY ON THE BOTTOM RIM.others are unnoticable.but I have to mention. The mark on bottom, again see picture(looks like James) Edwards and Dale Hall right underneath him in the underglaze impression. Davenport Sauce Tureen Registration Stamp dates 1852. Fig Design This 1852 Daveport sauce tureen is an amazing piece of early Engligh white ironstone. The embossed foliated patterns of figs and leaves are reflected throughout. The finial reflects the shape of the fig and rests upon an embossed bed of foliage. Included in this lot are the tureen. Lid, and a sauce spoon. The spoon is a cream shade, while the tureen and lid are white. The underneath of this piece has two impressed markings. Both faint. The first is the Davenport Ironstone China mark. The second is the English registration diamond mark: IV-cermamic, B for October, 22(day) D for 1852, and 4-a type of lot/bundle designation. A fabulous circa 1894 white ironstone china handled covered tureen. Marked on the underside with a lion and unicorn surrounding a crowned-crest and"Thomas Hughes. It also has an imprint of"4. It measures approximately 8 3/4" 10 1/2" including the handles) x 6 1/4" x 3" to the top of the rim and about 5 1/2" to the top of the knob. The knob is signature Thomas Hughes. As is the decoration on the handles. Typical for its almost 120 years of life. The tureen has crazing, some potter's inclusions, a small hairline crack along the inside edge of the footed pedestal, which does not seem to affect the integrity of the piece, and some surface scratching. It measures 8 ½ inches long; 4 3/4inches wide and 6 ½ inches tall. The glossy white glaze pools to a pale blue in the crevices. The handles are incurved C shapes. Marked with an impressed registry mark on both the base and the underside of the cover. Dates from July 1851. Antique White Bridgewood & Son Ironstone Porceline Opaque Covered Tureen
A beautiful covered tureen in porcelaine opaque( the look and feel of ironstone but lighter in weight) It measures 13 1/2 inches long by 6 in1/2 inches tall. It is in very good shape with a small discoloration spot on the interior of the dish and and around the interior edges. And a small manufacturing split in the porcelain on the sides. There are no chips but some crazing. The handles are quite unique in their shape. They are made to look like iron cabinet pulls.

Fantastically detailed covered vegetable dish in the Corn and Oats pattern.aka Corn On The Cob Shape. Shape was potted by Wedgwood and registered in October. 1863. Lid has a wonderful ear of corn finial with husks and sprays of oats. Handles are ears of corn in wrapped husks. Bottom has four sections of ears of corn in husks and sprays of oats. Dish measures approximately 11" across. Including handles x 7 1/2" high to tip of corn finial. Covered Dish has specks of dust(can see in photos) all a result of the potting process. Has minor spots of discoloring on tip of corn finial. Edges of handles and short section on edge of lid. seen in last photo. Has minor light surface scratches on inside bottom. Otherwise both the lid and bottom are in excellent condition. No crazing. T he exact year that the James Edwards pottery registered this shape is unknown but I like to call it Octagonal Bliss. It bears the same pottery's imprinted mark on both pieces. It measures 12' across the handle b y 10” and stands 7” tall. Condition is very good given the age. There is a tiny spider type crazing pattern underneath of the domed lid. And does not in any way distract from being a very beautiful and displayable piece; or functionality of this true antique. The design consists of what looks like branches of a tree for the finial and handles. ... moreDating: This tureen was made by the James Edwards company in Burslem. Staffordshire in England. The printed Royal Arms motif is fairly common in the 19th century. But the diamond-shaped registry mark indicates the year and day this was manufactured. According to the date codes on it. This was produced on September 29th, 1851. The"IV" on the top is the code for clay vessels. The"P" represents 1851, the"D" September and the"29" is the day of the month. the"4" on the bottom is the package or bundle number. It is also interesting to note that James Edwards was the first to export this practical and beautiful ironstone ware to the Americas beginning in 1840. Beautiful John Edwards ironstone covered dish with lions heads. As I understand. This is from between the 1850's and the 1870's. There is crazing, a hairline crack in the lid, a small chip in the rim and a hairline, and a couple of cracks by the handles that look like manufacturers defects. There are a few small discoloration spots and glaze imperfections. Despite the stated defects, this is a good looking dish as there are no large chips, cracks, or stains to detract. Considering the age, it is on excellent condition! Opening measures about 9" x 6.5" and is almost 4" tall without lid. Please inspect photos closely! RICHARD ALCOCK COVERED WHITE TUREEN & LID ANTQUE BURSLEM ROYAL PATENT IRONSTONE
This covered tureen is in good condition(or very good considering its age) Richard Alcock was in business from 1870-1881. This qualifies his work to be considered antique since it is more than 100 years old. Both the tureen and its lid have no chips or cracks. There are some rough edges(perhaps scratches) on the inner edge of the lid and the upper edge of the tureen itself(where the two pieces meet) I do not know if this is from the manufacturer or from use. There is some discoloration present here and there but mainly on the sides of the tureen which you can see in pictures#7 and#8. There are two spots seen in#7 and a few discolored lines on the#8. There is crazing present which is considered to be age appropriate. The tureen stands about 4" high without the lid and about 7" high with the lid. Up for your consideration is a wonderful small soup tureen that is in EXCELLENT condition with absolutely no flaws anywhere.This came out of an estate that had a main house and then smaller quarters for the workers or servants so most all of the items in the house were turn of the century items so I assume the home was built in the early to mid 1800's and that was the time period reflected in the furniture that was in the house. Antique 1852 William Davenport White Ironstone Scalloped Decagon Covered Tureen
Presented for your consideration this very nice antique white ironstone vegetable serving tureen. It was made ca. 1852 in the Staffordshire Region of England. Longport by William Davenport& Company. It measures 11-1/2" from handle to handle. 7-5/8" wide and approximately 7" tall including the knob on the lid. The classic design includes scallops on the lid and the outside of the bottom section. The finial has an embossed flower at the top and the handles appear to have a shield and rope pattern. It is mark on the bottom with the British kite stamp as well as the Davenport anchor mark. The kite stamp dates the registration to 1852. It is in excellent antique condition for it's age. It does have some light crazing, wear to some of the hard corner edges and high spots(see closeups) as well as some rust colored spots. No ... morecracks or chips that I can find. Antique Richard Alcock White Ironstone Covered Tureen, Circa 1870, England
A beautiful handled covered tureen produced by Richard Alcock of Burslem. England Circa 1870. The piece has the appropriate crazing and condition issues for it's age. There is a chip on the edge of the tureen and a crack that follows the base of the tureen. That can been seen from the inside of the piece as well. Please see all photos. The makers mark on the bottom of the tureen is raised. Which is a much more rare type of marking, that was only used by small potteries in Burslem. I believe that puts the tureen in the early part of the production of the Alcock pottery before he expanded the production capacities. Upon Alcock's death in 1881 the pottery was sold to Wilkinson& Hume. This piece has the most beautiful form and would make a great addition to your ironstone collection. English Ironstone? Blue & White Covered Casserole Soup Serving Tureen Gravy Boat
This listing is for a Antique Ironstone? BLUE& WHITE COVERED CASSEROLE.OR.SOUP& VEGETABLE SERVING BOWL/ TUREEN. Matching GRAVY BOAT. It is stamped under the glaze on bottom with a"S" on one side of the bottom and a"C" on the other side. Beside the"C" their is a stamped marked that looks like a flower. The gravy boat also has the"C" and the flower. But it is extremely diffcult to see with out a magnifying glass. I'm not sure about the age of the two items. I don't know what the makers marks stand for, but if anyone has an idea about that, I would really appreciate the information. They may be English Ironstone? The covered dish is in good condition for it's age, no chips, cracks or crazing that I could see. The gravy boat has a large chip on the side of the rim, it has a 1" hairline ... morecrack on the attached underplate, and it has crazing and some discolored spots. Can't say if they are microwave, dishwasher or oven safe.you will have to be the judge on that. These two items are NOT NEW, they are in antique or vintage condition so they do show signs of use consistant with their age Please use the zoom feature to take a close up look at all of the photos to determine the condition of these items for yourself. These look beautiful to me and they display very well! Dimensions: Covered Casserole is appox. 9" tall including handle and 12 1/2" wide including handles. 19th C. English White Ironstone Covered Vegetable Tureen T & R Boote
Tureen is functional and displayable. But does have 2 hairlines in the bowl and a rim chip The top lid has a internal chip a a few tiny bown spots on the lids inside edge. The chips only show on the inside. The hairline both inside and out.
