Antique Aesthetic Period transferware tureen birds thistles bamboo handles 19th
This tureen is decorated with thistles and birds in flight. It has a blue pattern along the border. The tureen is 11 inches wide including the handles and 7 ¾ inches deep. It is 6 ½ inches tall to the top of the lid. The handles on the bottom and top are in the shape of bamboo. The decoration is applied by transfer. The piece dates to the Aesthethic period. Circa 1870. The style of the piece makes us think it is French but it may be English. It is unmarked. There is wear to the gilding on the handles. There is a small chip under one of the handles that looks quite old.

It measures 7" across the handles by 6-3/4" to the top of the branch-form lid finial. The bright white porcelain has gentle fluting and a layered lid. The decoration features a band of pink glaze outlined in deep purple with a light gold scallop design. The three handles are hand painted in deep purple with a delicate leaf and branch design. Antique French 19th century elegant soupi è re/soup tureen. With out lid. About 12" across top. Handle to handle, 6" across base and 6½" high. A hairline crack on the inside. It doesn't show on the outside. Slightly scuffed handles from lots of use. A small scratch in the porcelain and a spot which wasn't covered completely with glaze. See photo collage. Antique ceramic soupiè re from the famous J. Veillard manufacture in Bordeaux. Overall height about 10" About 12" across handles and almost 5½" across base. The J. Veillard& Cie. Bordeaux stamp on the base was used from 1829 to 1895, this is an old soupière. Apart from a minute chip under rim of lid and a darker mark nearby this tureen is in super used condition. A worn area on lid where the it has been lifted so often and a beige shadow. The number 4 embossed inside lid and number 5 on base. Photographed with another J. Veillard& Cie. soupière. Fine late 18th/ early 19th century old Paris porcelain sauce tureen and undertray decorated in the sprig or cornflower pattern favored by Marie Antoinette and Thomas Jefferson- with gilt highlights. Beautiful London-decorated tureen probably made by Swansea in mid-19th Century. The tureen itself is 12" high overall tureen sitting on underplate. The underplate is approx. 15" on the longer handles dimention. While only13" diameter on the non-handle sides, the underplate is 1.5" deep. The tureen similarly is wider on the handles dimension: 12" with handles, 10" diameter on the non-handles sides(s) The tureen itself is 7" deep internally. The lid is 3.5" high while the overall height of the tureen and lid is 9" high. THERE IS ONE HAIRLINE FISSURE IN THE GLAZE JUST INSIDE THE LID WHERE A LADLE WOULD FIT.
