Situated in Amicable Street and Great Woodland Street, they were succeeded by Wedgwood& Co, the head of the firm being Enoch Wedgwood. The works were very extensive and gave employment to six or seven hundred persons, occupied an area of about an acre of ground and were among the most substantially built and best arranged in the pottery district. The goods produced were the higher classes of earthenware. In which dinner, tea, breakfast, desert, toilet and other services, and all the usual miscellaneous articles were made to a very considerable extent, for the home, Colonial, Continental and American markets. The quality of the"Imperial Ironstone China" the staple production of the firm- was of remarkable excellence. Both in body and glaze. The tureen has the deep Flo blue flowers on white base and elaborate handle on the lid. The tureen. The lid and the underplate have laced rims. The colors still are bright and vibrant. The tureen is 8 1/2" b 6" at the rim and it is 6 1/2" high to the top of the lid. The under dish is 8" by 5 1/2" the ladle is 7" long. They all have nice blue flowers. The under dish and the tureen are marked with impressed Wedgwood and Co- s tandard name-mark used alone or incorporated in printed marks. Printed blue mark that dates the set c 1890- 1906 There is one small chip on the lid of the tureen and two small chips on the ladle. Otherwise the set is free of chips, cracks or crazing. This wonderful tureen was made by Powell& Bishop(1867-1878) The pattern is classic with rounded handles and just a flat applied diamond shape on the peaks of the handles. The ladle has a slightly different pattern as shown. The bottom of the tureen is marked with a bold black backstamp that reads. Ironstone China Powell& Bishop" This gorgeous tureen has a blue cast to the glaze bringing Pearlware to mind. A wonderful treasure you NEED to commandeer for yourself or your loved one! Condition: The condition on this sauce tureen is phenomenal. It is probably about 150 years old and all that I can find to criticize is some tiny brown age spots along the very edge of the lip inside the lid and two little spots of wear on one of the base handles. Lovely Powell & Bishop White Ironstone Tureen or Covered Vegetable Bowl c1867
This auction is for a Lovely White Ironstone Tureen or Covered Vegetable Bowl made by Powell& Bishop of Staffordshire England circa 1867. The piece is in good condition. Especially for its age. The lid has straight line crazing on its finial and a small spot on its outer rim that appears to have been glazed over or touched up(see last photo) It is a good job and I almost missed it. The body has fine even crazing and toning in spots including the rim and a toned crazing mark on one side(see next to last photo) It is not a hairline as it doesn't go through to the inside. The bowl has the Powell& Bishop Crown and Ribbon backstamp. Which dates the piece to between 1867 and 1878. With the lid on. The piece measures about 6 inches tall and is about 11 inches long with its two handles. Please check my feedback and buy with confidence. ... moreAlso check my other auctions. We are offering a white ironstone covered serving dish in the Sydenham Shape by T&R Boote. The lid and the base have the diamond-shaped registry mark that matches. The base has an additional“CD” mark that is not on the lid. The lid has a mark of four small squares that form a larger square that is not on the base. The lid fits the base but it is not a perfect fit. The lid also has 4 different areas that have been repaired; only one area is visible on the outside. The base has a shallow chip on the underside of one of the scallops that is approximately 1 inch in length. A small area of roughness is on the edge that is approximately ½ inch in length. Inside the bowl is a small stress fracture and the small dark spots found in early pieces. The flaws do not detract from this beautiful early piece of ironstone perfect for display. 1850's Villeroy & Boch Large White Ironstone Octagonal Tureen
Manufactured by Villeroy& Boch. Found some German literature. Which states that this mark was used around 1850. Photos were taken with and without flash. The tureen measures 10" from bottom to top handle of the lid and 13" from handle to handle. The only flaws I can find. Is a manufactured imperfection(small flat chip to the lid which has been over-glazed, 9th photo) barely noticeable. There is also a flat chip to the inner lid's neck(10th photo) which can't be seen when lid is in place. There is also overall crazing, normal due to age. Keep in mind. Antique and vintage items by their very nature are used items and will show signs of normal wear due to age and use. Charles Meakin Warranted Royal Ironstone China covered vegetable server. Charles Meakin made pottery in Burslem from 1870-1882. This server measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" and 12" from handle to handle. The base is 4" deep and the piece measures 7" to the top of the lid. It is in excellent condition despite its age of over 140 years. It has a small imperfection in the glaze on the lid which leaves a spot about 1/8" in diameter without glaze. It has one small chip on the inside rim of the base. No other chips. Here is a fine example of AMERICAN CHINA PAINTING from 1928 and executed on a much earlier ironstone tureen. Probably English and from mid-to-late 19th century. This big tureen had a broken lid and was unadorned and thus probably considered a good candidate for decoration in 1928. The tureen as it is, is 6" tall, about 14" across the handles and 8-1/4" deep. It has a rather unevenly painted interior green trim ring, but the gold trim on the outer edge, handles and base is well done. The flower pot decoration.nearly identical on both sides. has a very strongly art deco influenced design with brightly colored and stylistic flowers. This white ironstone tur een. With cover and under-plate has the impressed John Maddock mark on its bottom. It has no cracks, chips or repairs. The cover has some browning on one area of its rim. The rim of this tureen is 8 sided. It is 5 inches tall to the top of its rim. When its cover is off. With the cover on it is 8 inches tall to the top of the cover's shaped handle. It has a repeated shape pattern around the tureen, its cover and the under-plate. The plate is 8&1/2 inches across from handle tip to handle tip. The shipping weight is five-pounds. This white ironstone tureen is in good condition with no cracks or chips e xcept for a flea fli ck size mark blemish on the side of the tureen. Not noticeable unless one looks carefully. I could not find a maker's mark on this item. The cover has a melon shape handle. Surrounded by raised leaved. It has an op ening for a ladle. The tureen has two shaped handles with leaves around both handles. The cover and tureen both have rib lines. With its co ver off the tureen is 4&1/4 inches to the top of its rim. The dimensions of its opening are 5&3/8 by 3&7/8 inches. It is 7&3/4 inches across fromo the end of one handle to the end of the opposite handle. Clearly seen in the photos. All the handles are in good condition. It is a great piece. I saw a similar stamp online and it said it could be"Liddle Elliot& Son. The design is paneled ironstone with a grape cluster finial and vine and cluster handles. Some call this piece a mustard pot or a honey pot. The piece is impressed under the glaze Red Cliff Ironstone. This pattern was produced from 1961-74 and mixes in perfectly with a collection of 1800's English ironstone. Vintage Red Cliff Ironstone Soup Tureen with Lid, Ladle, and Underplate
This vintage soup tureen with lid. Ladle, and underplate made by Red Cliff Ironstone is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks but there is some light crazing. The base measures at 12 5/8 inches from handle to handle x 10 1/4 inches. The ladle is 11 1/2 inches long. The lid measures at 7 1/2 inches in diameter. The tureen itself measures at 12 inches from handle to handle x 9 inches front to back x 8 inches height by itself, 12 inches height with the lid, 13 inches height with lid and underplate.

Offered is this beautiful. Large, round tureen base in the Split Pod Shape. This piece features a pedestal base, side handles with embossed leaves on either side, and a scalloped top rim. It was produced by James Edwards in Burslem, England and was registered in 1856. It retains his impressed mark with the registration diamond. This piece has a small chip on the base rim. Some crazing, and some light age coloring and light wear primarily on the handles and top rim. Antique English J. Clementson Sydenham Ironstone Transferware Oval Lidded Tureen. Circa 1936-1842, I believe, made before Clementson's British Registry Mark had been approved. It is a very early piece, marked only with the incised number 36 on the bottom. Very early wares had been unmarked, marked after 1839. This wonderful piece was found in the attic of a very old house. It was wrapped in a crumbling newspaper dated 1880. Tureen. As well as the lid are in very good condition, with the exception of an old tight crack and some wear to the bowl's rim. There are3 tilt marks inside of the bowl, occasional pin size imperfections and tiny black specks. Gorgeous deep blue transferware. This is a vintage Worcester ironstone tureen in good condition. But it isn't perfect. The bottom has handling wear to the gold trim, but no chips, cracks, or crazing. A couple faint brown stains on the blue area, but otherwise very clean and shiny. The lid, however, has been broken and repaired. No other chips, cracks, or crazing. Welcome to Annsys Place! Here is an awesome White Ironstone Tureen which was made by Elsmore& Forster in England in the 1800's. The name of the pattern is Ceres aka Wheat and this piece is in excellent condition. I do not find any cracks. Chips or discoloration and little to no crazing. It measures approximately 11 1/2 inches x 7 inches. This tureen would be an asset to any collection or to use on the table! Shipping will be paid by the buyer. I base the shipping charges on the zip code of the buyer plus a small fee for insurance. I feel it is terribly important to insure antiques. This English Ironstone Soup Tureen is very large- 14 1/2"l x 5 1/2"h. It does not have a lid but it makes a great flower vase or for display of a collection or for serving food. White Ironstone Grape Clusters with Chain Shape Sauce Tureen - c.1865
Offered is this lovely White Ironstone Sauce or Gravy Tureen in the"Grape Clusters with Chain" Shape. This shape features clusters of grapes& leaves on a vine over the body and lid. With a chain trim around the top& base of the tureen and outer rim of the lid. This piece also has a slight pedestal base, uplift handles and a ring finial. It was produced by H. Burgess in Burslem, England circa 1865, though it is unmarked. This tureen is in excellent overall condition with no chips or cracks. There are some light spots of age coloring and a tiny vertical line on the top rim.
