This measures about 10 1/2" handle to handle, inside diameter of 8 1/4" and stands about 6 1/2" tall( with lid on) This is a fabulous tureen! Definately older. As stamped on the bottom. There is a knotch in the lid for a ladle. The piece has crazing throughout. It has a repaired crack where one side of the spoon indent in the lid broke off at some point(see photos) There is also a crack on the side(see photos) which measures a little more than 2 inches and I would be careful putting hot liquids in it because of this crack. But it would still be great for vegetables, mashed potatoes and a number of other thing! Beautiful. Excellent condition, 100+ year old soup tureen. The stain visible in the second shot has thorough crazing. I assume it was from a brazier. No noticeable chips, usual wear. Inherited this from my great, great grand-father's estate. Here's the history of Spode's W.T. Copeland& Sons: All the world loves Spode. It was so in the beginning when. In the mid-eighteenth century old Josiah Spode the First started to make his fine bone china and with it to create ceramic history, It is so today, for there has been a remarkable revival of interest, during the last decade, in the superb wares for which he and his successors were responsible. Josiah Spode. It will be remembered, was an apprentice of Whieldon in 1749. An excellent condition large circa 1900's Soup Tureen in the Linda pattern by John Maddock& Sons, England. The flow blue transfer imprint is clear, deep blue and flowing. The original gilt and the cover and handles have raised decoration. Both pieces have no chips, cracks, crazing or any damage. Tureen measures 9" diameter opening x 12-1/2" at its widest x 7.5" high. This listing is for an antique John Maddock& Sons soup tureen with underplate. The bottom of the tureen and underplate are both marked"Royal Semi.Porcelain John Maddock& Sons England" The bottom of the tureen has the number#2100. The pattern is a brown daisy floral with hints of blue and yellow. There are no major cracks or chips on either piece. The tray has a little bid of crazing on it. There is some wear to the bottom edges of the tureen and platter and a few little spots that look like either pinhead sized nicks or factory flaws. Please view all photos for best description. The tray measures 13 3/4" by about 10" and the tureen measures 12 3/4" by 7" and about 7 1/2" tall. I do not know the exact age of this item. It appears to be antique. Brown Transferware Covered Vegetable or Soup Tureen "SPRAY" by Furnival & Sons
This is a well used and well loved platter. It is large. 16 3/4" by 11 1/2" It is in a rectangular shape with scalloped corners. This platter is by Brownfield& Sons and is in the Berne pattern. It has the registry mark confirming it was manufactured in 1885. It also has an impressed registry mark and maker's mark. As you can see from the pictures it has some brown staining on the front and the back. There are no chips or cracks. It weighs almost four pounds. It has crazing and the wear marks on the back from scooting it across the table and stove. For those of you who love pimitives and items in their original condition from more than 100 years ago you may love this platter. This pattern has a simple but elegant ribbon banding of pink roses and green leaves outlined in gold on ivory white. The top of the lid has another ring of the same roses and leaves with gold accented embossed handles. The scalloped foot also has gold accents.
