This wonderful tureen was made by Powell& Bishop(1867-1878) The pattern is classic with rounded handles and just a flat applied diamond shape on the peaks of the handles. The ladle has a slightly different pattern as shown. The bottom of the tureen is marked with a bold black backstamp that reads. Ironstone China Powell& Bishop" This gorgeous tureen has a blue cast to the glaze bringing Pearlware to mind. A wonderful treasure you NEED to commandeer for yourself or your loved one! Condition: The condition on this sauce tureen is phenomenal. It is probably about 150 years old and all that I can find to criticize is some tiny brown age spots along the very edge of the lip inside the lid and two little spots of wear on one of the base handles. Lovely Powell & Bishop White Ironstone Tureen or Covered Vegetable Bowl c1867
This auction is for a Lovely White Ironstone Tureen or Covered Vegetable Bowl made by Powell& Bishop of Staffordshire England circa 1867. The piece is in good condition. Especially for its age. The lid has straight line crazing on its finial and a small spot on its outer rim that appears to have been glazed over or touched up(see last photo) It is a good job and I almost missed it. The body has fine even crazing and toning in spots including the rim and a toned crazing mark on one side(see next to last photo) It is not a hairline as it doesn't go through to the inside. The bowl has the Powell& Bishop Crown and Ribbon backstamp. Which dates the piece to between 1867 and 1878. With the lid on. The piece measures about 6 inches tall and is about 11 inches long with its two handles. Please check my feedback and buy with confidence. ... moreAlso check my other auctions. White Ironstone Covered Tureen Serving / Vegetable Dish T&R Boote Sydenham Shape
We are offering a white ironstone covered serving dish in the Sydenham Shape by T&R Boote. The lid and the base have the diamond-shaped registry mark that matches. The base has an additional“CD” mark that is not on the lid. The lid has a mark of four small squares that form a larger square that is not on the base. The lid fits the base but it is not a perfect fit. The lid also has 4 different areas that have been repaired; only one area is visible on the outside. The base has a shallow chip on the underside of one of the scallops that is approximately 1 inch in length. A small area of roughness is on the edge that is approximately ½ inch in length. Inside the bowl is a small stress fracture and the small dark spots found in early pieces. The flaws do not detract from this beautiful early piece of ironstone perfect for display. The ... moresize is approximately 10 ¾” diameter and 9 ¾” high to the top of the finial. The bowl without the lid is approximately 5 ½” high. Please ask questions. 1850's Villeroy & Boch Large White Ironstone Octagonal Tureen
Manufactured by Villeroy& Boch. Found some German literature. Which states that this mark was used around 1850. Photos were taken with and without flash. The tureen measures 10" from bottom to top handle of the lid and 13" from handle to handle. The only flaws I can find. Is a manufactured imperfection(small flat chip to the lid which has been over-glazed, 9th photo) barely noticeable. There is also a flat chip to the inner lid's neck(10th photo) which can't be seen when lid is in place. There is also overall crazing, normal due to age. Keep in mind. Antique and vintage items by their very nature are used items and will show signs of normal wear due to age and use. Clearly seen in the photos. All the handles are in good condition. It is a great piece. I saw a similar stamp online and it said it could be"Liddle Elliot& Son. The name of the pattern is Ceres aka Wheat and this piece is in excellent condition. I do not find any cracks. Chips or discoloration and little to no crazing. It measures approximately 11 1/2 inches x 7 inches. This tureen would be an asset to any collection or to use on the table! Shipping will be paid by the buyer. Offered is this lovely White Ironstone Sauce or Gravy Tureen in the"Grape Clusters with Chain" Shape. This shape features clusters of grapes& leaves on a vine over the body and lid. With a chain trim around the top& base of the tureen and outer rim of the lid. This piece also has a slight pedestal base, uplift handles and a ring finial. It was produced by H. Burgess in Burslem, England circa 1865, though it is unmarked. This tureen is in excellent overall condition with no chips or cracks. There are some light spots of age coloring and a tiny vertical line on the top rim. antique vintage tureen with ladle lid and underplate as shown. underplate is 16 inches tureen is 13 long handle to handle and 10 inches tall. tureen and lid is very nice. ladle could be cleaned/ dipped as it has gravy stains from years of use which is very very common. I would have done it myself had I been back east but here in rural Wyoming I don't know who does it. underplate has a crack as you can see. the ladle by itself is worth more then my starting price. underplate stamped as shown and tureen base stamped as shown. all sales are final and all items are sold as is as found. This auction is for a Lovely and Rare White Ironstone Small Tureen or Lidded Gravy Boat made by Pankhurst& Co. of England in the mid 1800s. The piece is Beautifully designed with a molded or a raised Victorian Scroll and Floral pattern. Two side handles, a slot on the lid for a ladle, and a bud-shaped handle on the lid. There are no chips or cracks to the lid or body. There is considerable toning or browning on the high spots of both pieces. But mainly on the lid, please see all photos) and some staining to the underside of the lid and body. Even so. This piece Displays Wonderfully and is a Great, Rare Find. This truly is a very old and early collector's piece. Although it has a few chips.there are NO cracks. NO linecracks and NO repairs. It is totally usuable and like most serious collectors, you might get those few minor chips repaired and it will be added to your collection for its early makers.or.IT JUST IS NOT WORTH IT SINCE YOU ONLY SEE ONE REALLY ON THE BOTTOM RIM.others are unnoticable.but I have to mention. The mark on bottom, again see picture(looks like James) Edwards and Dale Hall right underneath him in the underglaze impression. This piece is one of the very early styles of Sydenham, which T&R and alot of the Staffordshire potters followed in the mid and late 1800s. Two being 1/4" of which one is on the rim on the bottom.see pics and the other on the rim of the top.There is another on the bottom that is 1/3" in size and a tiny nick on the INSIDE of the edge that the top fits into. This is a beautiful antique white ironstone tureen with lid. It is marked"Ironstone China. J&G Meakin, Hanley England, and has a crest with a lion and a unicorn. I believe that this mark dates to about 1890. The tureen measures approx. 10.5" from handle to handle, 6.5" wide, and 6" tall. It has a lovely shape and elegant design on the top handle and the two side handles. It has overall crazing, and some light staining on the inside of the lid that does not show on the outside. There is a chip on the lid and two tight hairlines on the lid. The bottom has three evenly spaced marks on the inside of the bowl that look like they might be stilt marks, and two glaze bumps under the handle that do not show unless you flip it upside down. Davenport Sauce Tureen Registration Stamp dates 1852. Fig Design This 1852 Daveport sauce tureen is an amazing piece of early Engligh white ironstone. The embossed foliated patterns of figs and leaves are reflected throughout. The finial reflects the shape of the fig and rests upon an embossed bed of foliage. Included in this lot are the tureen. Lid, and a sauce spoon. The spoon is a cream shade, while the tureen and lid are white. The underneath of this piece has two impressed markings. Both faint. The first is the Davenport Ironstone China mark. The second is the English registration diamond mark: IV-cermamic, B for October, 22(day) D for 1852, and 4-a type of lot/bundle designation. A fabulous circa 1894 white ironstone china handled covered tureen. Marked on the underside with a lion and unicorn surrounding a crowned-crest and"Thomas Hughes. It also has an imprint of"4. It measures approximately 8 3/4" 10 1/2" including the handles) x 6 1/4" x 3" to the top of the rim and about 5 1/2" to the top of the knob. The knob is signature Thomas Hughes. As is the decoration on the handles. Typical for its almost 120 years of life. The tureen has crazing, some potter's inclusions, a small hairline crack along the inside edge of the footed pedestal, which does not seem to affect the integrity of the piece, and some surface scratching. White Ironstone Berlin Swirl Shape Tureen - Liddle Elliot & Son - c. 1862-1870
Offered is a beautiful White Ironstone Tureen in the Berlin Swirl Shape. This shape features a wonderfully embossed swirl pattern with side handles and a large fruit finial with embossed leaves. This piece was produced by Liddle Elliot& Son in Longport. England circa 1862-1870. It retains their printed mark on both the base and the lid. The base has two shallow chips on the outer top rim. A tight vertical hairline and some light age coloring and crazing(see photos) The lid has a small chip on the leaf of the finial and some light wear on the outer rim, but is otherwise in very nice condition. White Ironstone Soup Tureen with Matching Underplate Made in Japan
This is a very nice White ironstone soup tureen. There is a matching Under plate. The design is fruit. The bottom of the plate says Japan there is no maker mark. The tureen measures approx. 11" wide from handle to handle and 5 1/4 tall without lid. With lid 8 1/4" tall) the under plate measures approx. 11" long 8 1/2" wide. There is crazing but no brakes cracks or repairs. The handles are intact. The bottom rim has a small chip that shows in the pictures. Please refer to the pictures as this is used. Offered is a lovely White Ironstone Tureen base in the Framed Leaf Shape. This shape is octagon and features framed embossed leaves on each of the outer panels. A footed octagon base, and side handles. It was produced by J.W. Pankhurst& Co. in Hanley, England, circa 1850, and retains their mark. This piece is in very nice overall condition with no chips or cracks. And only some minimal age coloring. It does not have its lid. Small covered tureen with ladle(ideal for gravy or sauces) Embossed pattern with a bud or berry finial Ring style handles. The bottom of the tureen has an impressed mark but it is too faint to read. The ladle is plain. No embossing, probably not original to tureen. Wonderful condition. No damage to report. It does have the typical glaze imperfections, nothing large or unsightly. The tureen meaures 12 by 15 inches wide and 12 inches high. There are some condition issues primarily a crack in the handle of the lid and discoloration of the liner.
