So hard to photograph shiny objects) Beautiful tureen and gravy boat are made by Moritz Zdekauer which lat er became known Altrohlau Porcelain. This mark on the bottom dates the pieces around 18 91. Ours is the 4th mark shown below on graph. Condition: GOOD! Soup Tureen has no lid. But there is no flange for a lid to sit, so I don't think it ever had one? Amazingly both pieces have elegant double handles and all is good. The tureen has a little wave on one side from manufacturing. This is not considered damage, just character. For porcelain that is well over 100 years old, this is quite a find! I have shown the gravy boat first in my pictures. F ollowed by the matching tureen. The gravy boat has the best manufacturer ... moremark. The matching tureen just has a number under the glaze. Came from the same estate so we know that it was from the same set. Charles Meakin Warranted Royal Ironstone China covered vegetable server. Charles Meakin made pottery in Burslem from 1870-1882. This server measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" and 12" from handle to handle. The base is 4" deep and the piece measures 7" to the top of the lid. It is in excellent condition despite its age of over 140 years. It has a small imperfection in the glaze on the lid which leaves a spot about 1/8" in diameter without glaze. It has one small chip on the inside rim of the base. No other chips. Antique Thomas Edwards Waverly blue transferware tureen base circa 1841
Lovely Thomas Edwards transferware tureen or vegatable bowl base circa 1841. This is in the blue Waverly pattern and is marked T Edwards Porcelain Opaque on the bottom. This piece is in fair condition. There are no chips or cracks but there is some crazing along the underside of the rim. And the white paint shows discoloration/yellowing. There is also some staining that has seeped under the glaze that I've tried to show in the 5th photograph. But this is still a lovely display piece. Beautiful Floral Antique Minton Tureen circa 1850, "BB New Stone"
A beautiful floral with gold tureen by Minton with the markings of BB Newstone for earthenware that was produced from c. 1830-1860. The small circle with a line intersecting it may indicate the exact date of manufacture. Which would be 1856. From handle to handle the tureen measures 11 3/4" the interior bowl size is 8 1/4" the bowl is just under 3" tall; and the lid is just over 3" tall. At about six inches in height this item has a very sculptural presence. The edges of the bowl and lid are gently fluted, providing not just a surface, painterly decoration, but enhancing the overall sulpture. Please contact me for more information. photos or details.

ESTATE SALE* From a southern California ESTATE with many fine antiques. We are selling a antique Staffordshire covered tureen with matching underplate and this 3 piece set is circa 1840. The handle or finial on the top of the tureen has been mended a long time ago and although it is stable as it is. it could be repaired in much better fashion today and most likely done in a way that would make the repair either invisible or very hard to see. The transferware decoration is very nice and the hallmark on the bottom is RHINE which is most likely the retailer who first sold it. The underplate measures about 14 inches across at the widest point and to the top of the tureen handle is about 11-1/2 inches. There are some small chips on the bottom edge of the tureen but they do not take away from the look of the set. I see people asking big prices ... morefor similar 3 piece sets with repairs but we are pricing this one at a very reasonable $225.00 or best offer and that is as good as it gets for antique Staffordshire made before the American civil war. This listing is for a near-antique William H. Grindley china footed tureen with lid but no laddle manufactured in England in an unknown white pattern with gold trim and accents. It's a beautiful piece with gold trim and accents on a heavily embossed milk-white colored surface. The circa dates for this backstamp are from 1914-1925. This piece was acquired at a local antique auction. The tureen and lid are in superior condition with no cracks. Chips, repairs, noticable scratches, or crazing. Antique large ironstone four footed two handled square soup or serving tureen with its handled lid having a dark green floral rose transferware aesthetic'Garfield' pattern. The handles on the base and lid are shaped like they are made from a bamboo stalk. It stands approximately 7-1/4" tall from base of feet to top of lid handle. Its base is approximately 10-3/4" long from handle end to handle end. The upper rim of the square bowl is approximately 8-3/4" by 8-3/4" Its lid and its base both have the same mark in green with'Rd. No. 8844 in a square box/ GARFIELD/ a beehive with an upper open ended floral wreath around it and'TRADEMARK' on the bottom of the beehive/ a backwards'N' to the left of the mark/ L S& S(Wallis Gimson& Co. Lane Delph Pottery, Fenton, Staffordshire Potteries formerly ... morePratt& Simpson) Mark is consistent for this exceptional piece being made sometime between 1884 and 1890. It also has an impressed dating mark which is extremely hard to read and an impressed number on one of the feet of the base of the tureen. The square serving base of this tureen does not have any chips and its coloring is in really great vintage condition. But it does have discoloration and crazing due to age. The lid does have a hairline crack at its open area where the ladle would rest and runs just near to the handle which is more noticeable on the interior side than the patterned side. The lid also does have three chips on its interior rim with two being small and one being slightly larger but does not affect the pattern side of the lid. Stoneware, miniature tureen/serving dish, circa 1887; made by Haviland Limoges
Recently found at an estate sale. This wonderful small(miniature) Soup tureen/vegetable server is rare and is in rare. Near perfect condition(no chips, cracks, dents, scratches, etc. Piece measures approximately 6 1/2" across and 3 1/2" high. The piece can be added to a collection of unique miniatures. Added to your granddaughter's doll tea set, or used at the dining room table as a mustard server, or any other uses you can think of. This wonderful little tureen is marked H& Co. with an underline which specifically dates it's manufacture to the year 1877 and defines it's maker as Haviland-Limoges. Haviland Limoges Footed Oval Soup Tureen - Rope/Anchor design -Circa late 1800's
Circa late 1800's by Haviland& Co. of Limoges. France. This beautiful pattern is very elegant in its simplicity; its called Rope and Anchor. The design features a twisted rope and Anchor around the top"knob" and twisted rope handles on both sides of the oval Soup Tureen. There is a raised or textural nature to the design in addition to the bright vivid floral design with beige/gold gilt accents on the white background. The theme is nautical and the item is worthy of any Captains Holiday Table. this will be packaged and shipped with the utmost care and attention. Anthony Shaw Ironstone Ceramic & Porecelain White Tureen, Burslem Circa 1850-55
This is one of Anthony Shaw's earliest made pieces. The mark on the bottom dates back to his first workings with pottery at Newport works from 1851 to 1856 Anthony Shaw was given an award at the Paris expo in 1855 and this was the mark formerly used. So to the best of my knowledge and research this is one of his earliest pieces dating before 1855 and before he started Mersey pottery. It has some firing defects as well as discoloration which only confirms its true age. This piece must be seen and held to appreciate its true beauty. Antique Ironstone Covered Footed Tureen Hyacinth Burgess Circa Mid 1800s
Powell& Bishop. Stafford Street Works, Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries, 1876-1878. Formerly Livesley, Powell& Co, and subsequently Powell, Bishop& Stonier. This early. Heavy, white ironstone covered tureen is oval in shape and rest on a raised collar base. It measures 12" in length, including handles; 7 1/2" across and 6" in height to top of finial on the lid. Nice looped handles and open, looped ribbon finial which resembles a crown with trailing ribbon and leaves on either side. The mark"Ironstone China- Powell& Bishop" is stamped on the base. There are no cracks, chips, repairs; some slight discoloration on underside rim of cover; overall light age related crazing. Item ID: RL0002831

Antique Richard Alcock White Ironstone Covered Tureen, Circa 1870, England
A beautiful handled covered tureen produced by Richard Alcock of Burslem. England Circa 1870. The piece has the appropriate crazing and condition issues for it's age. There is a chip on the edge of the tureen and a crack that follows the base of the tureen. That can been seen from the inside of the piece as well. Please see all photos. The makers mark on the bottom of the tureen is raised. Which is a much more rare type of marking, that was only used by small potteries in Burslem. I believe that puts the tureen in the early part of the production of the Alcock pottery before he expanded the production capacities. Upon Alcock's death in 1881 the pottery was sold to Wilkinson& Hume. This piece has the most beautiful form and would make a great addition to your ironstone collection. Crazing can be seen on lid and small chip on lip of bowl. Small black dot on lid. All handles in excellent condition. It is stamped with trade mark used before 1880 and the company has been in operation from 1847 to 1900. The tureen has printed in black under glaze the early trade mark and also is marked with pressed under glaze number"7" and"VICTORY" name and English Registry number"Rd 10937" I am not sure about the last 2 digits, can be also 07- see picture of the mark. The tureen has one very tiny flake on the foot- see picture. Very thick glaze body with some light crazing and few yellow dots. No cracks, or chips, or old repairs, no nicks, or other flakes.Unique executed handles of the square bowl and lid depicting two duck heads ... moreholding a bar/beam in the beaks. The lid has one place which is looking like a large cheap glazed by manufacturer. It is a serving spoon resting place. Size of the tureen: 9 3/4" long( measures with handles) 5" wide. Antique Vegetable server tureen circa 1900-1920 ND2869
Antique vegetable server or tureen circa 1900-1920. This pretty tureen measures 10" x 6 1/2" and is 3" deep. With the cover it stands 6" tall. It is made of a shiny white china and the finish is not marred. The primary decoration is of a vase or urn filled with trailing vines and blossoms. Earth tones in shades of brown, tan and orange. The same blossoms are repeated in clusters on the top and around the base. The handles and rim are highlighted in gold. There is some wear in the gilt on the handles from years of use. The maker's mark is an impressed number 1079 on the underside of the base that is difficult to see in a photo. Inside the lid there is a number 9887 handpainted under the glaze. You will also see our stock label in the photo! There is no name of a manufacturer or country of origin which means it was likely ... moremade in the United States. We dated it at early 1900s due to the lack of identification and the good condition. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or discoloration. The lid does have four(4) pin head size faults in the glaze. Up for auction is this wonderful John Rogers& son England. Blue willow covered tureen circa 1815-1842. There is some crazing and there is a small chip on the inside of the bowl, see pix. Not bad looking for being 200 yrs old.There are no cracks, or repairs. 5 1/2" tall, 9" wide.
