An authentic vintage napkin in the Art Deco style from the memorable Vogue Cocktail Bar and Night Club located at 2060 Broadway. Near the Paramount Theater, in Oakland, California, in 1942. Provenance: The year was 1942. World War II was raging, and a young Mrs. White had come all the way from Houston to the Bay Area to say goodbye to her husband Frank, a navy sailor being sent out to war. While waiting for the dreadful military sailing orders, the couple visited several night spots in the city of Oakland. They had one of their last cocktails at the famous Vogue night ... moreclub. Mrs. White kept this napkin as a memento of their farewell and placed it in her scrapbook where it has remained untouched for all these years. The date was March 1942 and she documented this event. As well as many others, in her diary-scrapbook. Date written next to napkin on album page. Additional provenance information can be provided to the buyer upon request. Condition: You will receive the napkin only. Without the album page. Our image shows the napkin as it was originally attached to the album page for the purpose of legitimizing is original provenance. Dated by original collector on the scrapbook page 3/42. Approx size: 6 x 3.5" It has remnants of aged scotch tape on three corners. Light staining is due to color transfer from album page. It's just incredible that this fragile item has survived for so many years in such good condition.
