VINTAGE METAL ART DECO LADY HOLDING ASHTRAY FIGURE - FRANKART NUART STYLE
This terrific vintage piece is reminiscent of the Frankart or Nuart ladies of the Art Deco era. It depicts a nude woman. With cropped hair, holding a round tray and standing on a base that reminds me of the top of the Empire State building in New York. This piece appears to be made of white metal which has been painted black(brown tinge in some areas) and measures 8 6/8" tall and is 3 3/4" wide at the base. This piece has terrific lines and is in good condition with no damages that I can detect with the exception of some minor wear to the surface paint and a few spots of white paint. The paint seems to have been put on a bit thick and consequently the lines of the piece are not as defined as they might be if the paint was applied thinner. A pair of Art Deco stylized reclining figurines on plinth. These are white metal and were not hugely qualitative when purchased. Their design quality is very Rockwell Kent and high Art Deco. I have owned then 26 years and used them for bookends though they both face the same way. One has a bronze finish and the other's finish is more matte and worn. They are not marked. 3 classic art deco pcs. round tin, vanity powder compact, nuart elephant ashtray
These three pieces are original art deco. The round tin has a wonderful scence of a woman and a parrot/macaw. there are spots of rust but the scene is wonderfully complete all around. Bottom and top are solid, top comes off. Rare Art Deco Bronzed Spelter 'Seated Nude' Beehive Lamp, by Nuart, c.1928
A Rare American. Bronzed Spelter, Seated Nude' Odeon Style Lamp, with it's Original Iridescent Amber-Glass'Beehive' Shade, circa 1928. This period Art Deco lamp. Is cast in cold-painted bronzed spelter, with a balancing seated nude, drawn by the light of the'beehive' iridescent glass shade. This nude is modeled to look like the many screen goddess' of the 1920-30's, with an Odeon style architectural feel to her sculpting and the lamp base, typical of Nuart& Frankart designs of the period. These foundries paved the way in the United States for the new'moderne look' of the Art Deco Period, with their sleek stylised appearance, where the models were incorporated as part of the overall design, almost like the caryatids of the ancient world temples. She appears quite elfin-like, similar to models used ... moreby Lorenzl, as she balances cheekily on the classical plynth seat. The spelter base has a strong geometric feel, which is echoed in the shape of the rare original amber-glass'beehive' shade. Overall it has a nice aged bronze-patina, adding to the character of the piece and is free from any major damage. The iridescent-glass shade is also in excellent condition and has a lovely warm glow when alight. The lamp itself takes a standard screw-bulb, which works fine, and retains vintage wiring. But as with all old electrical items, it should be tested and checked by a qualified electrician before prolonged use. The original rotary'on/off' switch is located to the rear of the shade gallery& still works fine for ease of use. This period lamp is 180mm's tall. By 200mm's long and 115mm's deep, and quite weighty for it's size. The glass shade slots into the rounded raised gallery on the base. I know it is very old and not a reproduction. It stands 27" tall. One foot is broken off but is still there, it was taped inside the dish when I got it. It fits perfect at the break as shown,see pic. I'm sure a good craftsman could easily fix it. Some paint is missing mostly at the base. The tray she is holding has some dings but is all intact. Unlike many. This piece is richer in detail. The girl has clearly defined hair. Fingers and toes and even a hairbow! I have an original lamp that my Grandfather bought sometime prior to 1944. I inherited the lamp and broke the original globe. I then watched on EBAY and found a matching lamp. Which I purchased to replace my broken globe. As a result I ended up with this extra beautiful Art Deco style base. I then proceeded to replace the globe as close to the original as I could find(Photo 2& 3) and I did rewire the base, too, since the cord had splits and cracks making it dangerous. Art Deco PAIR Verdigris Frankart Nuart Bronzeart Everlite Era Rooster Bookends I just purchased this PAIR of vintage Art Deco Rooster bookends from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The bookends are characteristic of the designs produced by a number of American foundries during the late 1920's/ early 1930's(Nuart/ Frankart/ Bronzeart/ McClelland Barclay/ Everlite) The pieces are well cast with crisp detail to the Rooster's stylized features and nice weight to the white metal ground. The bookends have a handsome verdigris finish with rich bronze ground retaining its original matte green patina. The roosters measure 7 3/8" high. 5 ½" long and 3 ½" deep. The bases are embossed with an octagonal crest/ maker's mark which I can't make out. Both bookends are in very good condition with some scattered ... morefinish wear, most notably on back of one tail and at the foot edges. The juncture at the tail/ base has a production line on each piece(pictured) The bases had a newer green felt pad which was coming off, I've pictured without so you can see the interior, but will be happy to replace before sending. Antique NUART Art Deco Nude Woman Lady Lamp with clear glass globe. It is 1920's era table lamp in the shape of a nude woman sitting on an art deco shaped bench. This lamp is very beautiful and is signed NuArt Creations NYC on the back of the pedestal bench. It is in good condition and is heavy metal. It has a painted finish which shows some paint loss wear and marks to the edges and corners. This lamp like original wiring. Don't know for sure. The globe shade is clear patterned glass and in good condition with no chips or cracks. This is a rare old lamp and would be a great addition to any collection. Ring holder, jewelry display, change holder, or as a flower frog center piece. She has many uses, and she is exquisite! We were told that this deco piece was made by Nuart Creations, New York City, N.Y. Circa 1930's. This wonderful deco lady has a 1930's curly swept-back hairdo, she is standing on a round base with upper part of her bady slightly leaning back, and she is looking down at the tray in front of her. She has a wonderful deco style with stair-stepped base and swirl design. The overall measurement is 9" tall, 5" long, and 4-1/4" wide. She is made out of some kind of metal with a black satin finish. The condition is amazingly very good- there's a stress crack on the base from age(see picture) but no chips, breaks, or repairs. She has been re-painted, and she looks stunning. And features two nude women facing outward, and leaning back on bended knees, with a fabulous skyscraper type amber crackle shade between them. The lamp measures 12-1/4 inches long, 4-1/4 inches wide, and is approximately 7-1/2 inches tall to the peak of the shade. There are some small minor nicks in the bronze patina finish. There is a faint hairline in the base(pictured) The shade is in excellent condition. The lamp is wired with old wiring and still has its original silk cord. This is an extremely RARE- ANTIQUE- OLD- VINTAGE 1920'S- ART DECO PERIOD- FRANKART ERA- NUART LAMP. It is as shown and is an original 1920's lamp that features a NUDE NYMPH- NUDE LADY- NUDE GIRL- sitting on a pedestal and gazing at a GLASS GLOBE- ORB that lights up. The SPELTER(fragile white metal) base is 8" X 5" the NYMPH is 6 5/8" high off the ground- and the GLOBE is 4 3/4" in diameter. I cannot find any markings. But I am sure that it was made by NUART CREATIONS- NEW YORK CITY. The finish consists of a BRONZE TONE PAINT and is age checked and is peeling in may spots- there is a lot of paint loss! The metal base is age cracked as shown, which is common for this type of old metal. This NUART art deco* art nouveau FRANKART ERA figural ash tray* smoking tray* pipe rest* is of a lovely nude woman. Backside. Near base is marked, I believe I'm reading it correctly] NUART N.Y.C. U.S.A. This Native American Indian* Alien- like woman does have a couple of arm issues. But nothing that detracts from her beauty or rarity. Her right wrist has a hole in metal, and left wrist is split through. Not bad for 90+ years old. This 1920s* 1930s era Nuart brass? bronze tobacciana piece was found with a nearly 6" long copper? sword shaped letter opener? or tobacco tool so it's being sold with this nude woman as well. This sculpture is 8-1/4" at her tallest and the tiered base is 8-7/8" across ... moreand nearly 5-1/2" deep. Base is covered with what appears to be the original deep grayish blue cotton blend pad with moth bites and evidence of age. No glass dish or bowl was found with this smokers temptress. Up for auction is an almost MINT Nuart Candle Holder that has never been used. No wax build-up or anything. This is a rarity since it doesn't come up that often. Graceful nymph holding up to the side an urn like jug that holds a candle. The Nuart logo is inscribed on the back of the nude's base. It is very hard to see but it is there. Adorable pair of Scottish terriers adorn this Art Deco era ashtray by Nuart of New York City. Originally brown. There is some paint loss, especially on the bowl of the ashtray. This is fairly common, and can be restored or left as it is. A great Art Deco item! I have one other up for sale, in better condition, but this one is older.
