A Rare Austrian Cold-Painted Spelter& Carved-Alabaster'Fan Dancer' Double-Amphora Lamp. Signed by Josef Lorenzl, circa 1925. Josef Lorenzl was one of the most famous and prolific sculptors of the Art deco period. He produced figurative pieces in both bronze. Spelter and porcelain, where he worked along side Stephan Dakon in the famous Austrian Goldscheider factory. His pieces depicted the style and elegance of the period, where his ladies with their slim elongated, almost boy-like features found fame throughout Europe and the world. His sense of oppulence and sexual liberation, reflected the revolution in society of the roaring nineteen-twenties and thirties! This period lamp. Designed& signed by Lorenzl, is cast in cold-painted spelter, with varieing hues of golds, browns and greens to the'Fan Dancer' figure, with ... morea matching oval alabaster footed-base of cream and green striations in the stone. All this is completed with two geometricly-carved& striated alabaster lidded amphoras, holding the lamps either side. It depicts a risque fan-dancer, striking a dynamic pose, at the start of her performance. Her moderne dress is worn like a second skin on top with raised floral decoration, this is echoed in the'petal' skirt, which like a daisy would be removed one petal at a time during her burlesque show. She holds her ostrich-feather fan closed for now, waiting to tease her audience later, when fully opened would offer a glimpse of her various states of un-dress. She poses atop the alabaster base, carved to appear like a stage, with even two green polished stone stage markers either side of her high-heeled shoes. To her rear are two beautifully carved alabaster amphoras, as stage decorations, each containing the original Austrian porcelain topped small-screw bulb holders, that when alight create the dramatic look and shape to this sculptural lamp. LARGE PAIR OF ITALIAN ART DECO CARVED ALABASTER LAMP VASES
PAIR OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HANDCARVED ALABASTER LAMP VASES. High quality representation of the stone carvings that the Italian sculptors were creating in the early part of the 20th century. The lamps are fully operational and when lighted give off a very soft and warm reflection through the alabaster prism that surrounds the light. When not lighted the vases are simply spectacular exhibiting that rare aged patina gained only from absorbing years of natural lighting and environmental exposure. The aged patina is a soft brownish hue with traces of darker natural verigated lines. Both have highly decorated lids that are art forms in themselves. In very good condition with some some edge nicks consistant with use and age. Lamp#1 on the right has some heat damage from over wattage bulb in the past which lessens the light reflection intensity escaping ... morethrough the alabaster and causes the dark ring at center. The heat also altered the crispness of the carving and softened it's appearance(see close up of Lamp#1) Age: Early 20th century(1910 to 1930) Condition: Very good vintage condition with traces of normal use some edge nicks expected for its age. lamp#1 on right has some heat damage lessening light visibility through alabaster. Lamp works but for safety purposes and its age should be checked for safety. The cordial was produced by Stevens& Williams at their Brierly Hill/ Stourbridge. England factory in the 1920's. This form is similar to Steuben's two-tone design, Frederick Carder was involved in the reintroduction of colored glass at S&W prior to co-founding Steuben in 1903) The cordial is beautifully executed with pale Apricot conical bowl and teardrop Alabaster stem with disc foot. The piece measures 5 7/8" high, 1 ¾" across the top rim and holds(1) ounce. The bowl is fire polished and has a slightly domed foot with beaded joint/ no pontil mark. The cordial is in excellent condition with no damage or noted wear. Original 1930s Art Deco figure on alabaster plinth
This is my beautiful 1920s/30s Art Deco figure up for auction. Bought by me many years ago from a high class Art Deco fair. I have enjoyed this lovely girl for a long time but sadly now I have to downsize. She is an original. Not one of the modern repros that are so often seen. Pure Art Deco and so typical of the Jazz age. Scantily clad. She poses beautifully on her alabaster plinth. Her movement is wonderful and captures the true spirit of that sensational age. The beauty of Art Deco I feel is the fact that it blends so well with period/vintage and even modern decor. She is in lovely vintage condition with excellent gilt/bronze patinated finish. Looking through a jeweller's eye glass. There is evidence of light surface crazing in parts as you would expect. This is really only visible when magnified. I always love to see this as it proves ... moreauthenticity of course. She is nicely cast with good detail and lovely attractive facial features. This is not always the case on figures I have noticed. It is very heavy indeed. I presume it is Spelter but in a way it seems too heavy for that. Maybe it is almost solid. The original Alabaster base is also in good condition with only a very minor surface abrasion near the bottom of the base. This is barely noticeable. Antique Art Deco Solid Alabaster Hanging Urn planter. It measures 11 3/4" in diameter by 8 1/2" tall and weighs 8 1/2 lbs. It does have some issues with 2 long hairlines that seem under control and 2 large stains on inside that I'm not sure how else to describe them. There are 3 holes for hanging that will need a chain in order to sustain the weight. Chain not included. Some of the etched designs on the side have somewhat faded with age and have a very European flair to them. On 2 sides is a nude adult male cupid with wings and arrow(has an ancient Greece appearance rather than a baby face as we have come to know) and the other 2 sides has a woman that is hard to make out the details. Vtg Egyptian Revival TV Lamp Art Deco Marble Hand Carved Alabaster Works
For your consideration is this Old Marble or Alabaster Table or TV Lamp of Queen Nefertiti. The owner said her mother had it for many years. The only information I could find about it was that it was made in Egypt during the Art Deco or Egyptian Revival Period. And imported to the US. The lamp works. But it has what I'd consider very primitive wiring, and it should be rewired. I couldn't believe it when I found no socket inside. The wires are just soldered to the top and base of the bulb! I've taken close-ups so you can see everything well. The plug is an old one, but there is no cardboard insert inside to cover the screws. I also see a bit of the copper wire showing near the base. So it definitely needs rewiring before using for safety sake. I must say that the bust is beautiful when lit. The alabaster glows orange in places ... morewhich truly enhances the bust. There are some natural striations to the stone which also adds depth and interest. I don't see any chips. The top of her hat comes off to get at the bulb. There are two rusty pieces of metal in the top that fit inside tiny holes in the head. To keep it in place. The base was glued onto the bust at one time, so there's some dried glue on it. It will make the wiring easier to replace with the base separated. Our lamp measures 7 1/2" high x 3 1/4" wide x 4" deep. This will make a lovely accent piece in any room. Low starting bid and NR. This wonderful deco lady is dressed in a red dancing outfit. She has a celluloid face, and she is dancing in a gazebo with three metal columns, alabaster base, and alabaster dome shaped shade. Wonderful Art Deco alabaster lamp with 2 cast metal ladies holding it. It is hand painted with flowers and artist signed. I cannot make out what it says. The ladies do have some cracks.best to look at the pictures for the description of that. The shade has some wear to the flowers. It measures 16 inches tall and 12 inches wide at the base. A few very small nicks or scuffs at one corner but nothing glaring at all. As you can see it lights beautifully. Cord is in good condition. It also has a roller switch on it. An exquisite original Art Deco Cigarette Box in Alabaster. Silver and Lapis Lazuli by Asprey of London. Asprey& Co. Alabaster Cigarette Box with Lapis Lazuli inlay and silver gilt hinge. The hinge states Patent No. 449335 and bearing Asprey retailers mark Asprey CB&S. Assayed in London in 1936- 18cm wide. Condition- it is in good condition although there are two bars/rests on the base. One shows a repair and there are signs of the Lapis Lazuli trim on the rests are missing- one remains. The faults are mentioned for acuracy although of course these are not noticeable when the item is in use as the repair is to the underside rest. Quite exquisite.

A Rare Austrian Art Deco 'Performance Girl' Figure on Alabaster by Lorenzl c1930
A Rare Austrian. Cold-Painted Spelter'Performance Girl' Figure, on her original Tiered-Geometric Alabaster Stand, by Josef Lorenzl, cast around 1925-30. Josef Lorenzl was one of the most famous& prolific sculptors of the Art deco period. He produced figurative pieces in both bronze. Spelter and porcelain, where he worked along side Stefan Dakon at the famous Austrian Goldscheider factory. His pieces depicted the style and elegance of the period, where his ladies with their slim elongated, almost boy-like features found fame throughout Europe and the world. His sense of style& glamour, reflected the revolution in society of the roaring nineteen-twenties and thirties! This particular piece is cast in cold-painted gilt-bronzed spelter. With subtle shades of dark greens to her shoes and hair, with red highlights to the decoration ... moreof her tailed jacket. It depicts a 1920's performer on stage, head cast back at the end of her routine, dressed quite androgynously, typical of Lorenzl's theatrical subjects! Her striking pose, with her dreamy eyes and elegant dress is full of the Art Deco love of the theatre in 1920's Europe. All this creates the dramatic pose, pure Art Deco in her poise and styling, full of theatrical flare. She balances carefully on tip-toes, which are threaded to the original polished milky-cream tiered alabaster base, of Odeon-Style shape, where at some time the fixings beneath have been filled in. This is usually due to previous owners, who were unable to tighten the recessed small nut fastenings, and have filled in the holes to stop any loose movement, and now she is very solid with the threads running into the alabaster, this can be remedied easily should you choose to, but I've never felt the need. She is in lovely original condition and free from any damage, remarkable for the pieces age! Updated wiring and ready to hang. Recently removed from a Virginian estate. Provenance: original owner had it sent from France early 1940.s. Aprox 24" hang from top to bottom. Aprox 22" in diameter. Heavy piece in original condition with the exception of updating to make ready for new installation with new canopy, wiring and chain. Alabaster shade and cold paint bronze with canapy crown is original and untouched. Alabaster is stable and is unique and beautiful. Abosulutely a classic addition to any ecletic room. This is a wonderful. All original, very old alabaster lamp with masterful carving. There are no major chips; the tip of one leaf may have been smoothed out. There is also a scorch mark on the back from a bulb that got too hot. It measures 10" tall by 8" wide and it weighs 4 1/2 pounds.

Rare German Art Deco 'The Fallen Nightgown' Mirror Lamp on Alabaster, c.1925
A Rare Large Austrian. Cold-Painted Spelter on Alabaster, The Fallen Nightgown' Figural Mirrored Table Lamp, cast around 1925. This particular large Art Deco Desk Lamp is cast in cold-painted gilt-bronzed spelter. As a gentleman's risque desk lamp, showing varying silver, gold, red and coppery hues to the cold-painted finish on both the figure and the star decorated ornate mirror stand. It depicts a risque Edwardian lady, stretching outwards before she retires for the night, as her night-gown has fallen to reveal her bare-chest, creating the dramatic& risque pose, but still pure Art Deco in her pose and styling! This scene would of been quite erotic for the early 1920's and therefore would of been created for a Gentleman's study or smoking room, to entertain his male guests! She stands atop a lovely piece of oval polished ... morealabaster, which retains the original four brass bun feet, allowing the exit for the wire of the the lamp. All is in excellent original condition, with no damage to either the figure or base. The original mirror does have some slight loss to the finish but shows it's age without detracting from the this lovely lamp! The detail to the ladies features and her billowing nightgown is exceptional, showing the hand of a great sculptor! The whole piece stands an elegant 260mm's tall. By 190mm's long, and 190mm's deep and is very heavy for the size due to the alabaster base! An original art deco letter rack made I think from polished alabaster. It measures 55.5 inches high. 6.5inches wide and 1.25 inches deep. There are two tiny nibbles to the edge of the base which is covered in a thin piece of red felt. International signed for to Europe will be approximately £14.5 and outside Europe around £22.00

Vintage Art Deco Child Praying Green Alabaster Figurine
This is a very peaceful looking vintage Art Deco figurine of a child praying. It probably dates circa 1930s or 1940s. Given its wonderful Art Deco design. It measures 4 1/8 inches tall(10.5 cm) The base measures 2 7/8 inches wide by 2 inches deep(7.3 cm x 5.1 cm) I'm fairly certain the child is made of pewter which is attached to an oval piece of light green alabaster(which looks like onyx) The circular forms are either chrome or a nickel plated material. The child and alabaster are both in very good condition. The circular pieces though have tiny pitting all over them. However. This does not seem to hurt the overall look of the piece, as it gives it a great old vintage look. The child is holding a bouquet of flowers in their hand. I have to say. I'm not sure if it's a boy or girl. It weighs a little under 5 ounces(134 g)

ANTIQUE ART DECO ALABASTER POWDER BOX- FIGURAL- GERMAN
I fell in love with this 1920's German alabaster powder box. It is an ivory alabaster with a sepia vein running through it. The box will come out of the filigree frame. The frame has spelter nude flappers all the way around. I did some research- and found an image of another one like this.but. The ladies were not holding the little bowls in their hands- this one still has 2 of the 3 bowls. There is a repair to the actual lid of the powder box(pictured on the last picture listed) the nice thing is that it can be positioned to sit behind one of the three ladies- and you do not notice it. I have an awesome 1920's vanity listed and it just looks amazing sitting on top of that. It measures 4 3/4" high by 9" across.
