C. 1920s. The clock is encased in a sienna& black marble pyramidal case, flanked by two matching marble tazza. It is in exceptional condition, free of chips, cracks, or restorations. The exception is what appears to be a minor(1/4" area in the back where the marble is not smooth. This appears to be an inclusion in the marble, and not damage. The is some(age-appropriate) wear to the clock face. The pendulum is affixed inside, and appears to work properly, but I do not have a key. The clock case is signed"S. Gonthiez. Denain(France) It measures 12.5" wide, 9" tall. and 5" deep. The garnitures are 6.5" tall, and 4.75" in diameter. I have not tested the movement. And can make no guarantee about the works. Impressive ODVY French Art Deco clock dating from 1920- 1930. Featuring two prowling panthers the clock was made ay the Odyv faience factory at Vierzon near Limoges. France and is in fantastic over-all condition with no chips or cracks. The movements(both the clock and the alarm) wind and work well, I can probably send a video clip of this by request. The golden guilding to the panthers has been over-polished in places and its nice that much of it still remains. The golden coloured faced and framed clock has its glass in place, the hands and the face are in perfect condition and the external frame has an aged patina. Wonderfully Art Deco, The figures on it are a lovely Art Deco lady and two doves. in wonderful undamaged condition(she even has all her fingers, very unusual) It has two side pieces that are wonderfully Art Deco in style. The marble is in lovely condition for something almost 100 years old. The clock has a lovely original glass and an undamaged face with super deco numerals. The movement is an 8 day one(commonly known as Paris movements) and the clock chimes each hour and each half hour on a little bronze bell. It is working fine and keeps good time(not up to quartz accuracy! But within a minute or two per week) It has been working without any problems, 100% reliable, in my house for over two years now. We are once again about to return from our house in France. And have decided to clear out some French antiques that we are not using. so I am putting some on eBay I am at present in France and the items are here. I will return on 15th March. But will be able to bring things with me to post in the UK. thus reducing your postage costs considerably This auction is for a lovely Art Deco Mantle Clock in very heavy lovely varigated marbles and other stone. The polished marble is in super undamaged condition and is VERY HEAVY. Please note the clock case. The face, are all original period items, circa 1920. After this. It gets a bit"different" The movement has been replaced with a modern quartz one. so it never needs winding or servicing and always shows the time very accurately. It takes a single AA battery that lasts for several years. ... morethe one in it has been there for 3 years and is still OK. These movements can run for 5 to 8 years on one battery. This would be a great clock for someone who wants the weight and quality of an original 1920's Art Deco item. But is nervous of wind up clocks, with all the worries about it stopping or needing servicing. The other thing I need to mention is that the lady on the top is a replacement. It is securely fastened however and looks the part 100% In reality 99.9% of people would never notice the"modifications" and it has sat on my mantlepiece for 3 years and no-one has ever noticed it is not a wind up clock. It is a C1925(I think)FRENCH EARLY ART DECO MANTLE CLOCK. I think it is early DECO as the principal shape is still quite curvy. For a simple clock it is very well made. As an example instead of just glueing the strips on they are fixed with bolts with aluminium nuts! The feet are turned& polished aluminium too. There is a SIGNATURE on the back that reads R HIRLEMANN, I could find very little out about him/her other than he made a barometer also signed thus. The BAYARD movement has been replaced with a quartz one(needs a battery) but luckily appears to have retained the ORIGINAL HANDS& the DOMED glass is in good order too. The period glass shade has been etched and decorated with thin gilded lines placed over a bronzed swirl on top a black marble stand. Furthermore. Next to the lamp is a marble& onix clock housing with a replacement battery operated German clock. The original clock stopped working and wasn't as practical as the new one. This one is wonderfully Art Deco. The movement is by Marti. The marble is in lovely condition for something almost 100 years. The clock has just been refurbished. Value of refurb is £60, so this is a real bargain. The clock has a lovely undamaged face. With very Deco numerals. SIZES: 28cn high. 43cm wide. 11cm deep. The face is 12cm diameter The movement is an 8 day one(commonly known as Paris movements) and the clock chimes each hour and each half hour on a little bronze bell. There is a spot of what looks like varnish on the top of the clock; it is not covering a crack or bad spot. I did not try removing it. There is a small dent in the chrome ring. The clock runs fine however it has not been cleaned and may need adjusting. The alarm works and rings at the correct time. The case measures 8 3/4” long and just less than 5 1/4” tall. Here we have a superb vintage french art deco clock with a beautifully cast spelter peacock. The base is made up of two coloured layers of marble. The top layer is a lovely cream colour with bevelled edges while the bottom layer has a lovely vein style in different tones from a beige to dark brown. The base is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The clock housing has the cream marble border and is mounted to the base by a stylised brass fitting. The clock face itself. Protecting glass and bezel are in very good condition. The 8-day clock is in working order with the clock key and winder. The cast spelter peacock is very attractive and is a very detailed figure. The peacock's tail is a stunning Persian green colour and really adds to the vibrancy of the piece. The piece is signed TED. TED was a French Atelier who produced spelter ... moreanimal figures. I recently purchased this clock just as you see it. It is super heavy. Weighing 20 pounds just as it is Before packing it up for shipping. I ... moream not 100% certain but I think this is some kind of Marble? and/or Green Onyx? The stand is 22 1/2" Long x 3 1/2" Wide From the bottom to the top of the clock is 10" Tall You can see where something used to be attached to the stand where the hole in the top is.I do not have what used to be there and don't know what it even was.but I think someone crafty or creative could ad their own item to it. It is also missing one of the round stones.the one on left probably had a matching one on the right.I don't know what happened to it. It was missing when I got it.I also pointed out with a green arrow on the back/bottom area where there is a chip off the stand.It also has two legs on the bottom which have a few chipped areas on them which also are pretty much out of sight when looking at the clock from the front.
