A Rare Austrian Cold-Painted Spelter& Carved-Alabaster'Fan Dancer' Double-Amphora Lamp. Signed by Josef Lorenzl, circa 1925. Josef Lorenzl was one of the most famous and prolific sculptors of the Art deco period. He produced figurative pieces in both bronze. Spelter and porcelain, where he worked along side Stephan Dakon in the famous Austrian Goldscheider factory. His pieces depicted the style and elegance of the period, where his ladies with their slim elongated, almost boy-like features found fame throughout Europe and the world. His sense of oppulence and sexual liberation, reflected the revolution in society of the roaring nineteen-twenties and thirties! This period lamp. Designed& signed by Lorenzl, is cast in cold-painted spelter, with varieing hues of golds, browns and greens to the'Fan Dancer' figure, with ... morea matching oval alabaster footed-base of cream and green striations in the stone. All this is completed with two geometricly-carved& striated alabaster lidded amphoras, holding the lamps either side. It depicts a risque fan-dancer, striking a dynamic pose, at the start of her performance. Her moderne dress is worn like a second skin on top with raised floral decoration, this is echoed in the'petal' skirt, which like a daisy would be removed one petal at a time during her burlesque show. She holds her ostrich-feather fan closed for now, waiting to tease her audience later, when fully opened would offer a glimpse of her various states of un-dress. She poses atop the alabaster base, carved to appear like a stage, with even two green polished stone stage markers either side of her high-heeled shoes. Vtg Art Deco Shiny Black Ceramic Nude Lady Girl Dancer Lamp BIG 8" Ball Shade
Hello and Welcome- This gorgeous lamp measures approx. 25" 2 feet and 1 inch! tall x 8" across the base x 6 across the base. The lamp is a shiney black. Not the matte finish- beautiful ceramic work. The lamp has a 3 way dimmer switch built in. This is a substantial piece, sure to draw attention, adding much to the beauty of your home. I pictured the smaller globes that can sometimes come with a lamp of this type( picture 6 and 11 above) to show that it just isn't as eye-catching with the smaller globe. This globe measures approx. 8" across, and the smaller one is about 5" across. The bigger one will come with the lamp. There was a crack in the base which may have been filled in with a little permanent pen at the crease in each knee, picture 5 above) but usually the bottom of the lamp is not at eye level so it is hard ... moreto notice. Art Deco Marble & Spelter Figural Lamp Nightlight Lady Dancer Burlesque Vintage
Here is a lovely little lamp. Approximately 11 inches tall. I have never sold anything like this so I'll do my best to describe it, and hopefully the pictures speak volumes as well. Please feel free to ask questions! The statue of the lady on top is what I believe would be called spelter. She is entirely metal of a dark color which was painted. Or cast, in a silvery finish. The silver is not bright silver, more of a pewter in color. I know this to be the case because there are a few small scratches to this finish(see picture of her shoulder) which show a darker color under the silver finish. The only part of the dancer not silver is her face, which seems to be most likely of celluloid, with painted eyes and lips. There is a tiny dark spot on her nose which I think is from the mold they used on her face. There is no damage to the piece ... morebesides the small scratches in the finish, the worst are on her shoulder, again, please refer to the picture. She's really lovely, I think she is modeled after Marlene Dietrich. The metal figure is bolted onto a piece of white marble. The marble piece is shaped like a drum. The side of the drum is carved and the carving painted with gold to look even more like a drum. The marble is hallowed out and the light is mounted inside. I would suggest rewiring as I believe what is here is original, and probably not to UL standards. However, it seems to work just fine. I put in a new 4 watt night light bulb(included) and the glow of the light through the marble is lovely. The light is mounted with wire, and one of the two mountings is broken(see picture) but still seems very solid. The lamp cord has an Bakelite on/off switch so you don't have to plug and unplug it all the time. There are a few surface scratches on the marble, they may be actual scratches or just how the marble is, I'm not sure. She stands atop a tiered geometric square pedestal base, to which she is seperatly bolted. All is in lovely original condition, with the cold-painted finish as fresh as the day it was created, showing the subtle hues throughout. AN ORIGINAL ART DECO BOUDOIR LAMP. THE GLOBE IS QUITE STUNNING AND IS ACTUALLY A BEAUTIFUL GLOBE OF THE EARTH WITH ALL OF THE CONTINENTS RECOGNIZABLE.IS IT RARE.I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE.APPEARS THAT GOLD HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE GLASS TO CREATE THE SHIMMER. THE FIGURE IS CAST METAL.APPEARS TO BE IN PERFECT CONDITION.THE MARBLE BASE MAY HAVE BEEN AN ADDITION. FULLY OPERATIONAL LAMP.THE GLOBE IS MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE IN PERSON. Antique Bronze Art Deco Nouveau PAGAN DANCER LAMP Nude Nymph Lady, French?
Antique Bronze Art Deco Nouveau PAGAN DANCER LAMP Nude Nymph Lady. French? Very artistic draped dancing nymph and tulip theme lamp from the Art Nouveau/ Deco period. This might have originally been used for a staircase newel post lamp. I'm unsure who made this artful piece or exactly when. But I compare this to some other Frankarts, Nuarts and other lamps I've possessed. I am still researching this one although I feel that it is from France. The figure appears to be spelter and the rest metal with a bronze finish. I believe the leaves are tole tinplate, making this a very detailed piece. There is still some pink-ish tinting on the leaves. This is in fine working order, as pictured, the On/Off switch being on the Leviton socket, which is the slide type(where you push it one way into the"on" position and have to push it back ... moreto turn the lamp back"off" again. The cord is old but intact. A bracket that holds the shade looks newer and probably replaced sometime over the years. The base is a sturdy plinth but this is obviously a substitute for a marble base. There are no loose parts throughout this decorative lamp. Also, the shade is a frosted ruffled art glass and is a nice final touch to this item. Would make an awesome hallway night light. Naturally, there are the usual signs of vintage age, including paint loss in a few places, etc. but no breaks or cracks. Please see all photos for details to ensure satisfaction. This Draped Dancer needs a cleaning. But I will leave that to the new owner so as not to remove any desired patina. I will include the chandelier type light bulb. The dimensions are as follows: 13" inches tall from the base to the tip of the tulip glass shade. The base is 6" in. x 6 1/4" in. and the cord is approx. 7' feet long! Happy to answer any questions. Continental Art Co. Art Deco Lamp Graceful Male Dancer Figure Chalk Ware
Sculpture part is 14" tall(24" to top of finial) No shade. Chalkware. He has a crack/bruise/flaw on his shoulder(see photo) and in a few places the color is a little bit scratched off, and this could use a really careful cleaning overall. But, other than the shoulder, it's pretty OK(no chips or other cracks) Very interesting face, sculpted torso.

OK- THIS ONE IS MY"NEW" FAVORITES! THIS IS AN OLD FRENCH NOUVEAU LAMP. FIRST OF ALL- LET ME SAY- THIS THING IS HEAVY! I AM NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF METAL IT IS- BUT. IS HAS SOME SERIOUS WEIGHT AND SOME SERIOUS DETAIL. THIS PARIS PRINCESS IS WEARING LACEY BLOOMERS AND LACE UP BALLET SLIPPERS. SHE SEEMS TO BE BALANCING THE LIGHT WITH HER FEET. THE LAMP IS IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. I LOOKED AND FOUND A COUPLE OF SIMILAR LAMPS THAT HAVE SOLD- THEY HAD A BALL TYPE GLOBE. THIS LAMP IS NOT DESIGNED THAT WAY- PERHAPS IT WAS CHANGED IN YEARS PAST- BUT, THE METAL ON THE SOCKET AND ON THE HARP ATTACHED MATCH THE LAMP AND LOOK AS THOUGH IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY- I DO NOT KNOW. THE GLASS SHADE IS JUST SOMETHING I HAD AND USED FOR STAGING- I WILL SEND IT ALONG IF YOU LIKE. I CAN TELL YOU THAT I SAW WHERE ONE SOLD FOR 3,400 PLUS AND ONE FOR 4,200 ... morePLUS- NO KIDDING. Gerdago Art Deco Dancer Harlequin Lamp 1920's
1920's Gerdago Art Deco Harlequin Dancer Pixie figural lamp. Please check out the pictures as they are part of the description. Generally in nice condition. Beautiful face. Nice patina on the metal and a good clean, unchipped marble base. One problem: A fairly tight crack in the metal in the ankle area. Still stable. There must be an internal support inside the ankle area. Very restorable by a craftsman who specializes in such repairs. Lamp stands 8.75" tall. No shade. Marble base is 7.5" long. 3.25" wide and just under 1" thick. Electrical cord. Switch and socket are original and still function properly. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. Thanks!
