Named“Spirit of Modernism” was designed in 1928 by sculptor Arthur von Frankenberg(1898– 1992) for his company, Frankart. An unclothed young lady rises from a fantastic cityscape of skyscrapers and gazes to her right. The spelter lamp is painted in the green enamel color of copper when it has been exposed, and is marked on the back“Frankart” and“© 28” the lamp was awarded design patent D77203 and is number L215 in the company literature. The lamp stands approx. 14 ½” tall at the top of the light socket. The lamp has modern wiring. We aren't certain of the date of manufacture; we were told that it is from a later casting of the original molds. We see a ding on the woman's head that shows the underlying metal, and right next to that are spots where it looks like paint flaked and was painted over. Rare Art Deco 1930's Frankart Modernistic Elephant Ashtray - Signed
Here is a stunning and rare original 1930's"Frankart" Art Deco modernistic elephant metal cigarette ashtray from San Francisco Estate. Made by Frankart Inc. New York. Circa 1930's. He has an awesome deco design. Very cool. The Frankart products are original works of art conceived and designed in the Frankart Studio by Arthur von Frankenberg. This wonderful deco elephant is standing on his back legs, his body is swirling up, and his rounded trunk is resting on tray. He is made out of some kind of metal with a golden bronze finish- a magnet will not stick to him. This deco elephant is signed"Frankart Inc. Pat.Appl.For" on the center of the tray(see picture) The condition is amazingly very good- shows wear, missing finish, minor dents, but no chips, breaks, or repairs. Antique Frankart art deco nude girl on copper ball cigar ash stand T330 signed
This belonged to my great uncle who passed in 1949. I remember staring at it every time I visited my great aunt as a child, I inherited it when she passed. It was refinished about 20 years ago, paint stripped and repainted with a color similar to the original but slightly bluer silver metallic, The copper ball was also stripped and polished and lacquered and since has darkened into a warm copper brown patina but still shiny, although there is a patch of corrosion on the top of the ball near the base of the girl. There are a few small dings in the ball, not very noticeable except on close inspection, There is also some corrosion on the underside of the metal that weighs down the base. I don't know what became of the original light green removable ashtray but I found an Elsa Peretti cobalt blue heavy venetian glass thumb print bowl 7" ... morein diameter whose base fits perfectly in the top tray which is 6.5" in diameter. It is 26" high with the glass bowl or 24" without. The copper ball is about 5" in diameter and the black square base is 7.25" on each side. I'm guessing the weigh at about 20 lbs including the glass bowl. It is signed at the base of the girl PAT DES 80059. Design patented in 1929. It's the real thing.
