It shows a certain structure as it would have been made out of many mosaic, together glued glass elements. The center bowl is adorned with an strictly geometrical airbrush pattern. The stepped-shape canopy and the fixture are still original and made out of chrome-plated metal. Although unsigned I believe produced by the world-renowned cameo art glassmaker Degué. The fixture has clearly been cherished over the years and is in absolutely perfect condition. The magnificent white frosted glass"vasque" is hand-moulded from extremely thick pate de verre. And the quality and thickness of the glass can be judged by the fact that the vasque alone weighs 2.5 kg/5.5 lbs The underside of the glass is decorated with a striking geometric design with flowers on the lower section in typical art deco style. A Lovely Vintage French Art Deco Marble Table Desk Lamp Light Spelter Figure This is a really lovely vintage French art deco table or desk lamp. Typical of the French art deco period. It has a marble base with cast metal/spelter? figures of two small birds. It has a patterned pink floral glass globe shade. It has a net weight of just over 2 kg before packaging. It takes a bayonet type light bulb which is not included in the sale. The base measures approximately 25cm x 9cm x 2cm The overall height is approximately 14cm Condition The glass shade is in good condition. Free from cracks and having no wear to the gilding and frosting. It does have a few minor surface marks which are only noticeable on close inspection. The spelter birds are in good condition having no damage and are securely fixed to the marble base. The marble base at some point ... morehas been broken at one end(just below the shade area) and it has been repaired very well. The crack blends in fairly well with the veining in the marble and is almost smooth to the touch. The underside of the marble has been recovered with some foil. This item is wired with 2 core cable and has a'Zeppelin' on/off switch located midway on the flex and has a French two pin plug. A Superb Large Vintage French Art Deco Marble Table Desk Lamp Light Squirrel Spelter Figures This is a really superb French art deco table or desk lamp. Typical of the French art deco period. It has a marble base with 2 cast metal/spelter figures of squirrels. It has a crazed patterned white glass globe shade. It has a net weight of just under 3 kg before packaging. It takes a bayonet type light bulb which is not included in the sale. The base of this lamp measures approximately 40cm x 10cm x 2cm The overall height is approximately 13cm Condition The glass shade is in good condition. Having a few tiny nibbles around the base which are not seen once the shade is in place. It also has a few dark specks in the grooves of the pattern, these could possibly clean away with a gentle scrub. The squirrels are in good condition having no damage and ... moreare securely fixed to the marble base. The marble base has a small chip at one end which I have shown in the photos. It is hardly noticeable as it blends in fairly well with the pattern in the marble. Most of the paper on the underside of the base has been removed at some point quite possibly to re-tighten the figures as they can become loose over time. This item is wired with 2 core cable and has an on/off switch located on the flex. The cable and switch are very grubby so you would probably want to replace them. I have removed the two pin plug. I have just reduced this. For this weekend only. This auction is for a lovely French Art Deco lamp with a swan. In cast metal, on a polished marble base. A genuine period item, with a lovely glass globe. It is working and takes a standard bayonet bulb base. We use these all around the house both here in France and in the UK. They work well with low energy bulbs. We just have too many of these. Having downsized in the UK from a five bedroom converted chapel to a small two bedroom modern house It still has a French plug on it and will need a UK type fitting when your electrician checks it out. Unsigned, would have been made by one of a number of high quality glass manufacturers that thrived in France prior to the 2nd World War. It is crisply moulded with panels and chevrons in frosted glass and is unusually deep. A beautiful and rare 1930's French Art Deco Ceiling Light/Fixture produced by the world-renowned cameo art glassmaker Jean Noverdy. The magnificent white frosted glass"vasque" is hand-moulded from extremely thick pate de verre. And the quality and thickness of the glass can be judged by the fact that the vasque alone weighs 2 kg/6.6 lbs The vasque has a wonderful geometric diamond design with flower buds in typical Art Deco style. All of this decoration is raised substantially in the moulding to create an eye-catching three-dimensional effect. And I have included several photographs of the fixture both lit and unlit that I hope clearly show the beautiful shape and patterning of the glass, and do full justice to this Noverdy ... morelighting piece. The upper edge of the glass is signed NOVERDY FRANCE DEPOSE. Jean Noverdy was a talented and imaginative artist who worked for many years for the Muller brothers at Luneville before establishing his own studio in Dijon. France. Noverdy produced Art Deco luxury art glass at the same time as Daum, Galle and Lalique, and his pieces have become world-renowned and highly collectable because of their remarkable quality and innovative designs. The fixture is suspended by the three gold chains and matching ceiling rose. The length of the supporting chains is easily adjustable so that the overall height of the fixture can be altered if required. 2 Classic French Art Deco Glass Wall Light Shades& Fittings Vintage This auction is for 2 vintage French glass wall light shades and fittings. They date from around the 1930’s and are typical in art deco style. The glass shades are white opalescent and the fittings are white porcelain. I have not listed these as a pair as one of the shades is a fraction larger than the other although this is only really noticeable when they are side by side. I have tried to show the difference in the photos. The wall fittings are identical. The bayonet fittings are slightly different. They will extend from the wall by approximately 20cm and the diameter of the shades is approximately 10cm They have a combined net weight of 800g before packaging. They will take a bayonet type light bulb and will need wiring. I have removed the original wiring as it was ... morenot up to todays standards. One of the shades has a rough edge and small nibbles at the opening of the shade and both have some nibbles around the top edge which are hidden by the fitting. One of the porcelain fittings is in very good condition. The other has some chips to the area where you would fix it with screws to the wall and also a small area located just beneath where the shade will sit(you can see this in the photos) Although it is chipped. French Art Deco Signed Degue Ceiling Bowl Chandelier Light Fixture (ANT-369)
The maker of the shade is Degué. It is signed“Ros. which was a synonym for the french art glass company known as Degué in Deco times. Degué glass was destined for the collections of the few privileged Americans and French able to afford them. These extravagant works were rarely seen outside the homes of such collectors. But influenced the taste and fashions of the day through their appearance in exhibitions and magazines of the late 1920's. The glassware made up to 1930 was colourful, whereas the items made after 1930 were frosted and more subdued, in response to the Great Depression. In 1936. Due to the great strikes, the Degué glassworks stopped operating. It was officially closed in 1939 at the outbreak of WWII. The Degué center bowl of this chandelier is made out of Degué’s typically thick-walled. Molded ... moreglass and shows a great, strict geometrical décor, as well as the pattern of grapes. It is tinted a soft baby-blue with a frosted surface. There are a couple of bubbles on the edge of the glass in one area, denoting the hand made nature of this Art Deco light. It is signed“ROS” in script on one surface. The metal of the frame is nickel plated. This ceiling bowl has been totally re-wired in our UL listed workshop. The shade is in frosted glass with geometry highlighted in clear glass. It attaches securely to the aluminium fitting with three screws. A small hook is needed to secure the stem to the ceiling. Just look at the fantastic lines of this find! Created in the extreme Art Deco style. This great ceiling light features a wonderful stepped ziggurat outline, a great accent at the sides of shooting triangles and field decorations of swag panels with tassels. The area behind the light bulbs has a geometric fan and diamond pattern as shown. All topped off with a sunburst star at the tip, accented with two stamped brass appliques screwed on. The original finial long gone. The one shown is how the piece was found and is quite suitable, though restrained. In the original finish(I think) of an antique silver. This is an aluminum casting which has darkened a bit over time and may have been bright silver at one time, but you would not be able to see the details if it were bright again. French Art Deco Ceiling Light Fixture/Lamp Opaline Glass Ceramic Base Stylish French Art Deco geometric ceiling light fixture with skyscraper inspiration. Circa 1920s/30s. The shade is in opaque white opaline glass. It comes with its original geometric ceramic mount. With unusual star-shaped styling. The shade fits snugly into the ceramic base and is secured with three screws. The base is pierced in order for it to be screwed flush to the ceiling. There is also a groove to one side of the mount. So it could be wired for use as a lamp. I have left the original bayonet bulb socket in in the photo. But I will remove this before sending, unless I hear otherwise. We are delighted to offer for sale two Fantastic French Art Deco Rise and Fall Centre Lights. These fabulous lights hang 137 cms(54" longest and 68cms(27" shortest. They are both approximately the same in length etc. One has a pie crust edge and one has a softly frilled edge. The flex of the pie crust light has been slightly discolored, but all have been newly rewired, and have authentic porcelain fittings. I have removed the ballast from the counter weights for postage reasons as they are heavy items to post. Age and condition guaranteed. Gorgeous Antique French Degue Era C.1920s Art Deco Large Amber Glass Light Shade
Antique Art Deco amber glass light shade. Beautiful large size antique light shade. in lovely Art Deco shape/form in honey amber glass has ribbed onion shape with 3 panels of art deco flowers around it. The glass has a lovely soft frosted finish. Measures 15 cms high by 82 cms in circumference around at the widest point. It fits on my modern standard ceiling light fixture and maybe okay for lamps please check measurements for that. The opening at the top inner measurement is just under 1.5" inches(3.5 cms) the top of the opening is 1.7" inches(4.5 cms) Dates to approximately C.1910-1920. Condition is very good for its old age. Just a few nibbles on the top of the small rim edge and 1 small minor slither chip to the bottom glass rim edge. Please bare in mind it is an antique item and does have some signs of use. It is marked Made in France on the edge, but is otherwise unsigned. Thought to be by Verlys. It is in an unusual shade of pale blue. It does not have its suspension cords. Vintage art deco French. Aluminium sise and fall ceiling lamp fitting. Three parts, the ceiling stepped pyramid, the beehive oval containing the rise and fall mechanism and the stepped gallery for holding the lampshade. Includes the original wiring and an old brass bayonet fitting for the bulb. The wiring would have to be replaced if this is for use. The mechanism for the rise and fall works. Bought in Provence. France and is in the condition it was when it was removed from a French house. In other words I have not cleaned it. The aluminium parts have some paint marks and some minor indentations. Antique French Art Deco 1930s Glass Skyscraper Lamp or Ceiling Light Fitting I am selling a superb French art deco light fitting that could be used as a table lamp or as a ceiling light. It has a pale blue mottled glass shade in the style of a skyscraper typical of the art deco era. It has a chromed metal fixture/base with three small brass screws which hold the shade in place. As you can see in the photos. This light fitting can sit flush on a surface so it could be used as a table lamp or as a ceiling light. To convert it to a table lamp you would just need to make a small hole in the side of the fixture to allow the flex to be diverted. It has a brass bayonet type bulb holder and it will need to be wired to the standards of your country of residence.
