VINTAGE METAL ART DECO LADY HOLDING ASHTRAY FIGURE - FRANKART NUART STYLE
This terrific vintage piece is reminiscent of the Frankart or Nuart ladies of the Art Deco era. It depicts a nude woman. With cropped hair, holding a round tray and standing on a base that reminds me of the top of the Empire State building in New York. This piece appears to be made of white metal which has been painted black(brown tinge in some areas) and measures 8 6/8" tall and is 3 3/4" wide at the base. This piece has terrific lines and is in good condition with no damages that I can detect with the exception of some minor wear to the surface paint and a few spots of white paint. The paint seems to have been put on a bit thick and consequently the lines of the piece are not as defined as they might be if the paint was applied thinner. Here for auction is a magnificent looking Art Deco figural ashtray. It comes with its original amethyst glass insert. The piece is not signed as Greist items had a label on the bottom felt of the pieces that usually fell off over the years. This particular item has a newer cardboard felt on its base. The ashtray was professionally refinished in the Frankart Nile Green color. The figural ashtray is about 9 inches high. The glass insert is about 3-3/8 inches in diameter and is in magnificent condition with the exception of having some minor fleabites. Almost imperceptible to the eye. One interesting item of note is that this figural item is almost identical to Frankart’s T1U nude ashtray, most probably a competitive response to Frankart Inc. U.S. Bidders Only! Wonderful estate find art deco nude ashtray smoking stand candy dish. I think it may be Frank Art or Nu Art from the little research I have done. I know it is very old and not a reproduction. It stands 27" tall. One foot is broken off but is still there, it was taped inside the dish when I got it. It fits perfect at the break as shown,see pic. I'm sure a good craftsman could easily fix it. Some paint is missing mostly at the base. The tray she is holding has some dings but is all intact. Besides the one foot no other parts are broken or repaired. It really is wonderful and stands secure as is but the one foot should be reattached to be more secure. This antique Art Deco nude figural ashtray stand is made of a heavy cast aluminum alloy and finished in a stain black. The nude woman is cradling her arms. Which I assume is designed to hold a small ashtray. The back side of the rocky-shaped base is flat like a bookend, which this piece can be used for. There is a signature on the upper rear of the base, but I can't really make it out. It appears to read"R. Fanny" but I just can't be certain(last photo shows the signature) The piece measures 10 inches in height. Many of these items have been well preserved away from sunlight indoors and away from heat and look as if they came out of a time capsule. I dont know much about this piece. I dont see a signature. Inc. a main exponent of the Art Deco period of design produced spelter metal, poured into a mold, decorative items starting in 1922- until app.1934. This piece is in the 1930-31 catalogue, Ashtray No. T323 page 59. The owner& chief designer Arthur Von Frankenberg had a studio at 33 W.67th Street in NYC utilizing live models. The main showroom was located at 225 5th Avenue& the factory was located at 542-548 Casanova Street. He was known for his female figures. However he produced many pieces that were caricatures. Frankart Sweeper Ashtray/Holder
Frankart. Inc. Sweeper Holder 1920's-30's Original 71/4" high x 51/2" long Frankart. Inc. a main exponent of the Art Deco period of design produced spelter metal, poured into a mold, decorative items starting in 1922- until app.1934. This piece is in the 1930-31 catalogue Holder No. H1603 page 54. His removable cart holds cigarettes, matches or ashes. The owner& chief designer Arthur Von Frankenberg had a studio at 33 W.67th Street in NYC utilizing live models. The main showroom was located at 225 5th Avenue& the factory was located at 542-548 Casanova Street. He was known for his female figures. However he produced many pieces that were caricatures. This piece is finished in Roman Green. Slight chips to the finish consistent to pieces of this age& the broom handle is not soldered to the brush. Up for bids is this cool old nude figural smoker's stand. Looks like Art Deco era, appears to be bronze but I'm no metal expert, small repair leads me to believe it was expensive. Last photos show flaws that are only noticeable upon close inspection: small crack that appears to have been pro repaired( welded) chip in glass at bottom of stand, couple light scratches. No signatures that I could find but it is a stunning conversation piece& real attention grabber. Look at the photos& ask plenty of questions because item is being sold as is as shown! Offered for auction is a vintage deco noveau standing nude ashtray. It is 8" high and its base is 4" The jadite ashtray itself is 3 3/8"in diameter. I'm guessing that the metal is spelter or cast metal. Not sure. The overall condition of everything is perfect- no nicks, dings, etc. I'm guessing that it's an ashtray, but I guess you could put candy in it or leave it empty. It's a very nice piece. FRANKART "RODEO GIRL" ART DECO VINTAGE ASHTRAY, A RARE ONE, ESTATE FRESH!
Up for sale I can today offer a very nice. And quite rarely seen original vintage"FRANKART" ashtray depicting a rodeo girl astride a rearing bronco. The ashtray is done in the typical spelter material as is typical for original Frankart pieces of this vintage(pre 1931) It retains the majority of its original subdued gold finish(with a nice mixture of DUST thrown in at no extra charge. I can find no condition issues w/ the spelter figure itself, and it comprises two pieces(the girl and horse are separate pieces secured I'd imagine, via hardware through the base) There is a small amount of finish loss to the base beneath the glass ashtray where some of the gilt finish is worn off, and although I do believe that the amber colored glass ashtray is original to the piece, one corner does have some chipping. The base of the ashtray ... moreis marked"FRANKART INC. Patent Appl'd For" I believe the black felt on the bottom is also the original. From my experience, this is an early Frankart piece which does NOT show up very frequently, and this piece is utterly estate-fresh and untouched, and is being offered exactly AS FOUND. Here is a stunning and rare original 1930's"Frankart" Art Deco modernistic elephant metal cigarette ashtray from San Francisco Estate. Made by Frankart Inc. New York. Circa 1930's. He has an awesome deco design. Very cool. The Frankart products are original works of art conceived and designed in the Frankart Studio by Arthur von Frankenberg. This wonderful deco elephant is standing on his back legs, his body is swirling up, and his rounded trunk is resting on tray. He is made out of some kind of metal with a golden bronze finish- a magnet will not stick to him. This deco elephant is signed"Frankart Inc.
