Art Deco Vintage Desk Ink Well Cubist Pottery on Wood base 1920s Germany ?
Art Deco Cubist Ink well and pen holder. Very stylish. Great cubist shape to the pots, ebonised type wood base. It could be German. No marks seen to base of ceramic wells. Probably dates to the 1920s. Interesting design. The holders are blue ceramic and the base is painted black wood. The ink pots sit in 2 square brass holders. The base measures 8.5 inches across and 5.5 inches tall. The ink wells are 2.25 across and 2.5 tall. Interesting piece. Good luck. This item can be viewed at our Antiques shop in Kettering. Offering here this difficult to find Art Deco. Cubist cat in cast iron by Hubley. Ferris the Cat( that’s what I call him) stands 10” tall and comprises 2 halves fastened by one screw. Structurally in good condition. No cracks or missing bits. The original paint( no evidence of overpainting…just one old coat) has about 90% coverage and has very good patina appropriate for age. This particular example was filled with plaster of Paris many years ago and I have chipped out the bottom to reveal the impressed HUBLEY mark which is inside the front legs. Well packed. From my personal collection is this rare art deco cubist statue of a male figure. Unknown artist, it is of the period and not a reproduction. It says" Brookfield Clothing Academy Award" with a sewing machine. The figure has his arm up holding a panel of fabric and standing over modernist buildings. The design is amazing, very art deco or cubist in design. I don't know what the metal is, it is very heavy, has a coppery color with darkened patina, the inside looks weird with a green verdi. Was probably to be mounted on a base. Measures nearly 12" tall. I researched Brookfield and could not find anything on it. I did however, find a closed auction from several years ago(from an auction house) who did a special advertising auction and sold this very statue except it was made of rubber and was 30" tall and sold for nearly ... more500.00 and its estimated value was $600- 1000. I found no other statue of this anywhere on the internet. I would love to know who the sculptor was. No damage in very very good condition for its age. I am pleased to offer for auction this great looking set of salt and pepper shakers. They are very Art Deco in the shape and style. They look to be very old so I'm sure they would be from the height of the art deco era- 1930's 40's. They are made from a stoneware type of material- nice and heavy. They are 4 1/2- 4" wide and 2 1/2" deep. There is one very small glaze nick on one of the many corners but other than that they are in excellent condition. Great ART DECO Ice bucket made by a better glass company and many claim it is a Westmoreland glass piece. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of Art Deco glassware I've ever come across. It is for sure the most beautiful ice bucket I've ever seen and these pictures do not even do it justice. NO damage. No staining. Clear frosted glass which may actually be"etched frosted" very realistic treatment to the frosted effect. The design is like stacked ice cubes and looking very similar to the enormously popular Ruba Rombic glassware. The outside frosted look is carefully done with an acid etch process I believe. It looks very"realistic" The handle and rim have not been cleaned or polished but no signature or writing could be found there either. Up for auction is this truly exceptional Art Deco lamp. I list this as rare because of the large size and the fact that the woman is made of chalkware/plaster. This was a popular material in the 1930's. But rather fragile and objects tended not to survive. The woman has a little wear and some small nicks on the base, but is in overall very good condition. She could use some delicate cleaning around the face and toes. I just didn't want to risk breaking, so leave this to the winning bidder. The splatter/end of day glass globe is superlative! In a cubist form, it really casts a beautiful glow. Because of the outstanding quality of the glass, I would believe it was made in Czechoslovakia, but it is not marked so I am not sure. Stunning large scale Degue France Cubist Art Deco vase. It is frosted and has silver metal inclusions. It is 11 1/2 inched high and 8 inches wide and weighs almost 8 pounds. It is in beautiful condition with no cracks. There are two small flake chips(3mm) on the inside rim but are not very noticeable.
