Up for bids is this very rare chrome and butterscotch bakelite Chase vase. Item reflects the popular art deco style of the day with the streamline design. Item is vintage. Dates to the 1930's. There are no dings that I can see anywhere, but there is some wear and spots on the chrome. The interior has discoloration from use and being filled with water. This is a nice addition to any art deco or CHASE collection. Item bears the centaur mark on the bottom. No cracks in the bakelite. It has 1 primary point of articulation being the cylinder shade assembly mounts which can tilt from side to side reflecting light. CONDITION: Overall the lamp is in outstanding condition. There are very faint signs of use with no dings. Dents or scratches. The lamp parts are all high polished chrome or Black enamel(with the exception of the bakelite decorative base} which shows almost no surface wear and faint tarnish. Some minor bending and a small dent can be found the shade. It appears to be missing the cover for the bulb as well. The prior owner took the felt off the bottom. And replaced it with a piece are cardboard. I acquired this at an estate sale and have done nothing to it myself. There is no name on the lamp that I could find. vintage Compressor machine age Craftsman streamline deco 1930's industrial art
Small old compressor for spray painting purposes designed by Roland Manning in the 30's/40's. Originally made for spayit brand this is a later craftsman model with cast aluminum front section and aluminum top cover with a few brass parts. The pulley and piston move but I don't know what it would take to get it working and you need a separate motor. Iconic machine age design that is right up there with the original Waterwitch outboard boat motor for far out 30s streamlined styling. This lamp could be made by designer John Widdicomb from the 1940s. The lamp has been tested and works. The metal piece that holds the lamp shade is wobbly and will need to be tighten.
