This large piece ... moredates to the 1930’s and is in very good condition with the original finish that needs minor restoration. Other pieces in this Art Deco suite are also currently for sale in my other listings. This and all pieces in the suite are numbered 4135. With one bearing the Gilbert Rohde Design label. This large highboy has five expansive drawers with a combed wood(possibly White Acer) front. The base is a dark wood(possible Black Walnut) with the model number on the back. It is in good condition with scratches and blemishes. Most notably to the top. With professional help it could likely be restored. Please take the time to review the photographs and ask questions. This piece shows wear and needs some restoration. In my estimation the finishes are original. Overall. Art Deco Machine Age Chrome Z Chairs Wolfgang Hoffman Howell Gilbert Rohde era
Offered is this fantastic matching set of six Howell Wolfgang Hoffman Z chairs. Vintage streamline machine age 1930's era at the height of the American art deco movement. Very similar to Gilbert Rohde's Z chair by Troy Sunshade and some of Kem Weber's designs. The chrome has been polished and the chairs have been recently upholstered in a black synthetic leather with chrome stud backs. They are in very good to excellent ready to use condition. Some minor scuffing and abrasive wear in the chrome throughout but still the finish is shiny and bright. Under close inspection there is some very minor pitting near the lower part of the legs but very minimal. Still incredible for being over 80 years old! Upholstery is perfect with no damage or wear. Offered an icon of American Art Deco design. The classic Herman Miller geometric chrome clock by noted designer Gilbert Rohde, one of America’s leading early proponents of modernism and industrial design. The minimalist design of the finely made chrome case is totally in keeping with Rohde’s early design aesthetic. This is one of the less common examples, with a matte silvered dial and finely striped stylized numbers(most have a white dial with art deco block numbers) The case is in exceptional untouched original condition, showing a slight bit of natural age to the chrome, but there is no corrosion or damage. The face and inside under the glass could use a bit of cleaning, and there is a line where one of the hands rubbed the face, but there is no damage from misuse.
