Named“Spirit of Modernism” was designed in 1928 by sculptor Arthur von Frankenberg(1898– 1992) for his company, Frankart. An unclothed young lady rises from a fantastic cityscape of skyscrapers and gazes to her right. The spelter lamp is painted in the green enamel color of copper when it has been exposed, and is marked on the back“Frankart” and“© 28” the lamp was awarded design patent D77203 and is number L215 in the company literature. The lamp stands approx. 14 ½” tall at the top of the light socket. The lamp has modern wiring. We aren't certain of the date of manufacture; we were told that it is from a later casting of the original molds. We see a ding on the woman's head that shows the underlying metal, and right next to that are spots where it looks like paint flaked and was painted over.
