A lovely young lady stands on the top holding her towel dressed in her black swim suit& bathing cap. The jar has a pretty blue swirl design. It is quite tall& measures about 10¼" tall& 6" in diameter. It is in good condition but does have a small flake& a tiny fleabite on the bottom of the lid. Though it is not visible when the lid is on the base. There is a small bit of paint wear on the back of the bathing suit as shown in the photos. There is also some glaze crazing typical of older ceramic items. I tried to find out more information on this piece but was not able to find a similar item. Iconic group antelope ceramic sculpture from French Art Deco legend CHARLES MENANCEAU. 1920's- 1930's. Hand painted and in great condition. Impressive dimensions- this is one of the larger Lemanceaus- over 19" long. 13" over 1 foot! in height and 5" deep(49 cms x 33 x 12.5) I have tried to show as much detail as possible in the 12 pictures. There is a tiny chip to the tail of the standing antelope(pic 9) A tiny chip to the base(pic 10) and a hailine crack to the glaze in the central area between the two animals. The lamp has great wavy relief and apple green fine crackle glaze. It has a milk white glass shade and is in working order. Marked underside with what appers to be incised JB( or J Besnard) under the glaze- the signature is difficult to see since the glaze has covered most of the incising and only the J shows some relief/ concavity- see last pictures! In excellent condition considering the age-no chips or cracks! It may need to be rewired as the cable has started to crack- see the pictures- I decided to leave it as it is! French Art Deco Ceiling Light Fixture/Lamp Opaline Glass Ceramic Base Stylish French Art Deco geometric ceiling light fixture with skyscraper inspiration. Circa 1920s/30s. The shade is in opaque white opaline glass. It comes with its original geometric ceramic mount. With unusual star-shaped styling. The shade fits snugly into the ceramic base and is secured with three screws. The base is pierced in order for it to be screwed flush to the ceiling. There is also a groove to one side of the mount. So it could be wired for use as a lamp. I have left the original bayonet bulb socket in in the photo. But I will remove this before sending, unless I hear otherwise. Most people prefer to replace with a fitting for a screw bulb. fitted as a lamp. An original ensemble.
