Art Deco bronze dancing lady - Hafenrichter/ Lorenzl
A lovely original Art Deco bronze with lovely cold painted silver body and fully signed to the Socle. This figure was cast in Vienna in the 1930s and bears the name Hafenrichter- he is widely believed to be associated with Joseph Lorenzl. But this model has also been seen bearing Lorenzl's signature. She is a good example of Art Deco bronze and is in good order- she stands tall and upright and is free from any damage. The tapered onyx base is also good- with just one small chip to the corner Size: 19cm tall I bought this many years ago from an Art Deco fair for nearly £1000! Wonderful find, they are not signed but one has a stamp and the other stamp on the other is faded. The stamp is s 203 or 208. The lady has a flower in her hair and appears to be dancing in a ring of flowers. The bookends are substantial and heavy with a felt base. They measure 8 3/4" tall by 6" wide. Vintage signed LORENZL Art Deco Dancing Lady Figurine. Bronze metallic finish over a white metal. Ivorine head, 3-tiered base made of Green Alabaster. One of the long-limbed, lithe dancing figures Josef Lorenzl(1892-1950) specialized in, so evocative of the Art Deco age. Signed on the metal base. This is very heavy like bronze. But we can see white metal under the bronze metallic finish, and the base is marked alabaster. Substantial weight. Selling this As Found. Missing both of the ivorine hands. The head is loose but present- the wax or glue fixative is no longer holding it securely. No cracks or breaks in the metal. There is an imperfection ... morein the plated finish on the left leg above the ankle-As Made. As the top'varnish' finish is over it- but there is also some finish loss at that area, with the white metal showing. Some other small areas of finish wear and loss. The green alabaster base has chipping around all of the tiers' edges. Two of the pieces are glued together, one piece is separate. The wax or bonding agent under the figure is no longer holding it to the base.
