Deco green amber butterscotch phenolic bakelite catalin jewellery box 607g
I've never seen this shape box before. It really is stunning. The lid and sides are made up of panels of swirled green phenolic whilst the finial, end blocks and base are all of a darker tortoiseshell/amber phenolic. It may be that a good clean will bring up a brighter colour but it looks wonderful the way it is. There are no cracks or major chips but the base panel has warped quite a bit and one end droops down- you can see the effect most in the second and third picture. It may be possible for someone to heat this panel and bend it back up to level but again. It looks great despite this. The underside of the base is scored roughly and there is glue residue from what was probably a blue felt bottom; you can see all the screw holes holding it all together. The whole thing weighs 607g and it measures 21.5 x 9.5cms; it stands 5.5cms high ... moreto the top of the finial. There are two holes on either end that would have once held a chrome or phenolic decorative plug to keep the lid from sliding out of position. These are now gone but could readily be replaced I'm sure. There are a couple of small shallow chips around these holes but certainly nothing to detract. Please note that all parcels. Stunning amber phenolic bakelite catalin deco dressing table set tray pots etc
A very beautiful dressing table set consisting of a tray. Two lidded powder type pots and a fabulous barrel shaped trinket box. The black material is bakelite I think. Though it does give off a faint chemical smell when rubbed. The amber type material is of course phenolic. The tray measures 28cms x 17.5cms and is in super condition. No damage to the phenolic gallery or little feet. There are scuffs and signs of wear to the black base and some light mottling of the surface too but certainly nothing that detracts at all. The two little powder pots measure 6.1cms across and 3.7cms high not counting the black lid. There is some mottling to the surface of the black as in the tray and a couple of little fleabites around the lid edge but again. There is nothing to detract. They have pink lucite like bases. The barrel trinket box 7cms high to the ... moretop of the lid and it is 8cms long- it is in really great condition. It is not too often that complete little sets like this turn up and it will look wonderful on a piece of period walnut or maple furniture. All parcels will be sent requiring a signature on delivery.

Classic Art Deco shape. Note: Catalin" is a trade name for a thermosetting polymer developed when the American Catalin Corporation took over the patents for Bakelite in the late 1920's. As a material. It was similar to other Bakelite resins although a different manufacturing process made it more suitable for casting. Lovely. Art Deco, pink& blue, bookends. Not too sure what they are made of. Hence title. I have not cleaned them. They are, as found. I think the marks at the joins are glue. But again, not sure. Stunning deco cherry wine red tray with amber phenolic catalin bakelite handles
A fantastic deco period tray measuring 46cms x 30cms. The base and rails are a lovely deep wine colour. I'm not sure what the material is, some sort of early composite board that has been coated perhaps? Anwyay, it looks great though it does of course show signs of it's age via scuffs and some light scratching here and there but I'm sure it will polish up nicely and these few marks won't detract at all. The sides are punctuated with amber phenolic pieces all the way around. There are some small rough areas on the odd edge but nothing serious; this really is a great item and would be great to help display other, smaller phenolic items maybe.

A large poker dice bottle opener 4. A fish shaped napkin ring. 5. 2 x Carvacraft dipping pens. No nibs and one of them is cracked at the nib end. 6. Magnifying glass. The glass does have a chip in it but it is still functional and the handle is great. 7. Beautiful black and amber phenolic desk writing seal.
