FLUTE Whistle OCARINA old Indian mayan
I inherited these pieces- and I sadly don't know how old they are or where they came from. They look Latin American to me and OLD. This one looks to be pieced back together from pottery shards- and doesn't work for a whistle anymore. He stands about 4 inches tall and is 3.5 long. There are 4 holes on his back for playing and the hole on his tail for blowing in and a larger hole on the bottom to release airflow. Really interesting piece- even if he doesn't whistle!

A magnificent and unique large old Shipibo-Conibo effigy pot from near Pucalpa. Peru. Standing impressively at over 11" tall and at over 14" diameter, this vessel is adorned with a serene human face in the traditional form. The eyes are narrow. Painted brown with incised grooves, the nose is pronounced, the mouth is narrow and straight, and the ears are molded in the style of ornamental handles. This pot was hand molded and fired, and the walls are thick, solid and well-balanced. The natural beige surface is covered almost entirely with geometric patterns in brown, orange, and cream colors. The bottom of the pot shows a charred mark where it has been previously used, perhaps for preparing the Ayahuasca medicine brew for which this culture is frequently known. A thin crack on the front, approximately 7cm, appears to have been indigenously ... morerepaired. Peru manuscript 1681 Spanish colonial document negro Hospital de San Bartolome
Handwritten Spanish Colonial document dated May 28. 1681, from Peru. Related to the Hospital de San Bartolome, one of the first colonial hospitals for Negros. This is a fascinating manuscript from the early period of the America's. If translated. It could prove to be quite historic. First page numbered 708; next to final page numbered 737. 66 pages total. Paper size approximately 8 1/ 2” x 12 1/ 2” With each sheet actually 17” wide but folded in half into a limp binding that is sewn together with cord. The writing is in early Spanish calligraphy on both sides of each sheet. There are about 24 lines of text per page. Every other page has an interesting paraph on the bottom center of the page. There are also a few symbols written on the margins. The writing looks readable, except for a few pages where the ink has burned through the paper. ... moreA contemporary reference paper that accompanied this document states: Testimonia de la escritura de Concierto: otorgada por el Hospital de San Bartolome– con– dona Maria de Buillon. En 28 de Mayo de 1681 ante Juan de Casas y Morales. There is a separate page of description written in large calligraphy that mentions Maria de Bullon and two dates. May 28, 1681, and July 8, 1681. This page is detached from the document, and appears to be written in a different hand. The title page has two stamps on the upper left. At the top it reads“Seis reales. Sello Segundo seis reales anos de mil y seis cientos y setenta y setenta y uno. Para los anos de 1680. Y 1681” This is one of the most legible and clean stamps and printing on a title page I have seen in all my early Spanish documents. The condition is used. Most pages are in good condition. But a few suffer from ink burn-through. The edges are worn, there are folds, stains, tears and holes. The final page with the signatures is in the worse condition, with some pieces missing and severe tears, some affecting the signatures. Otherwise, not bad for something 330 years old. This vessel is an orangeware pottery cylinder having an incised depiction of two lords seated in front of simple stylized alters or offering tables. A triangular 4” area of the rim. Extending down 2-1/2” is a restoration. A tiny hole is also present as seen in the photo(midway in the wall of the cylinder) otherwise intact and lovely.
