METAL: COPPER With a Very Nice Patina ... moreYou are buying one Aztec Indian Axe Money AKA"Hoe Money" ACTUAL SIZE MAY VARY: 55 MM X 150 MM X 1/4 MM OWN A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF HISTORY WONDERFUL MONEY OF THE ANCIENT AZTEC INDIANS Considering how thin this money is it is still in remarkable condition! I have bought& sold a lot of money in my day but this is truly the most fascinating item I have ever had the pleasure of owning. How else could you hold a piece of the AZTEC INDIANS The Aztecs were a barbarian tribe who came into the Valley of Mexico during the 13th Century. Their language. Uto-Aztecan was once widely spoken from Washington State all the way down to Nicaragua. Hoe(because of the shape) money was extensively used by all classes of Aztec society. The axe money was fashioned entirely by working(hammering) In shaping the object. The original metal blank was hammered and annealed many times to thin the metal. To spread the broad blade, and to form the raised flange that runs along the edges of the shank. The metal was pounded severely in the final stage of manufacture and was left in this forged condition. Presumably to harden it. After the object was shaped. A series of grooves was made on one surface, both in the shank and in the blade. The photomicrographs reveal that these grooves were not cut into the metal. Rather. They were formed by a hard tool that was pressed into and dragged along the surface of the object. This tool compressed the metal immediately beneath it. Forming the groove. The compressed, highly worked and deformed metal is characterized by elongated grains full of strain lines produced by the force exerted by the tool. I acquired these from a friend of mine who bought them from a dealer on one of his many trips with the Peace Corps. This listing features a pair of intriguing ... morecultural artifacts from the MesoAmerica area. The vessel is about 3" in height and the figurine is about 5 1/2" in height. Both pieces have a little damage as can be seen in the photos. These items are a fascinating glimpse into the culture of Latin America. Their originality and age are unknown, adding to their mystique and appeal. Perfect for collectors of Latin American or ethnographic antiques, these artifacts are sure to make a statement in any setting. Again, I do not know if these are relatively new or very old. You decide and bid accordingly. High bidder to pay $7.50 shipping. Thank you.

Pre-Columbian Replica Pottery Mayan Priest Figure/Statue w Headdress Bowl-Mexico Up for sale is Pre-Columbian replica pottery statue figure of perhaps ... morea Mayan priest(though the breasts look like a woman) with an ornate headdress that is fashioned into a bowl. The piece is 10.5" tall and the bowl is 6.5" in diameter. My guess is that this is Mexican pottery. I purchased this at an estate auction and am uncertain of its age. It's in very nice condition with no chips. Cracks or breaks. Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week. If you happen to purchase after I return from the post office on shipping day it will be a full week wait until I am able to ship again. Antique Sancto Religious Catholic Bishop Head Antique Glass Eye Statue Part
I am unsure of the origin of this piece. Although it has been in my family for over 75 years. I believe the eyes were added, later, because of their excellent condition and placement. I am certain the piece is at least 100 years old but uncertain of its exact age without an authenticator. Which I am not. This was obviously the head of a religious statue. Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone out there in the world had the original missing body? Condition is appropriate for its age. I believe it is made of wood with a polychrome type finish. Framed Cast PreColumbian TAINO LIZARD AMULET PuertoRico
RARE. STRIKING, and VERY UNUSUAL A Direct Cast Recreation of an Original Pre-COLUMBIAN Carved Bone LIZARD GOD AMULET Probably an Iguana representing the god of Weather Original Carved from the Rib Bone of a Manatee from the TAINO Culture of Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands circa 1000 to 1500 AD. EXCLUSIVE! AVAILABLE NOWHERE ELSE! click image to enlarge. c lick picture to enlarge Name: TAINO LIZARD AMULET Location: Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands Culture: Taino Time: c. 1.000 to 1,500 AD Carved Bone LIZARD AMULET When Columbus first landed on the islands of the Bahamian archipelago. He described the animal life as follows: On land I saw no animal of any kind except parrots and lizards. Today there are few to no natural parrots on the Islands, but there still are lizards. This bone carving is probably of an Iguana deity, and ... morewas originally part of a larger piece such as a scepter. This lizard figure apparently was broken off in ancient times(this is apparent from close inspection) A hole was then drilled near the top and the piece appears to have been worn as a amulet. The original piece was discovered during archeological excavations in Puerto Rico. The figure may represent Marohu. The Spirit of good weather. Marohu was the son of Iguana and was born in the maternal cavern, Iguanaboina cave. He took for himself the representation of the Iguana whose dorsal crest looks like rays of the sun and hence'good weather' Together with his twin brother, Boinayel. God of Rain, the two represent the balance of weather- between sun and rain. However their clashing egos can cause terrible catastrophes for humans. The name iguana or"higuana" is a Taino word. The syllable"gua" begins the Taino words for gold. Parrots, fire, and the names of many chiefs(caciques) It is possible that"gua" was a designation for a favored thing. Indeed, iguanas were one of the favored foods of the Tainos, but by the time the Spanish arrived, iguanas were so rare they were reserved only for the caci

Antique Peruvian Alpaca woven blanket 46x41 1/2 ca.1930
Antique Peruvian Alpaca woven blanket 46x41 1/2 ca.1930 Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 A colorful and intricately woven antique Alpaca blanket or altar cloth measuring 46 x 41 1/2 inches. The colors have not faded. It is superb condition. For the Aymara and Quechua Indians in the Peruvian Andes. Textile art has been the major creative outlet. These descendants of Inca and other Pre-Colombian weavers have concentrated in recent times on intricate warp-patterned structures, producing exquisite fabrics that were both functional and ceremonial. Beginning with traditional motifs, each weaver freely created his or her own variations. Because designing was done with the warps, these articles are all striped. Most weaving processes are less time-consuming than yarn preparation, ... morebut this is not so with the warp-patterned weaves. Andean weavers use no harness controls for their patterning, but pick their complementary-warp designs, one warp yarn at a time. Contrasting colors are warped in pairs in the pattern stripes, and during the weaving one yarn of each pair is selected to create the designs, one by one. The yarns for warp-patterned weaving must be exceptionally well-spun. Plied, and then spun over so they are strong and elastic.

Fabulous Giant Antique Sterling Silver ANDES INDIAN Tupo Pin Bolivia TM627
AKATAKSA RETURN POLICY eBay no longer allows us to automatically accept returns in exchange for merchandise. However. WE WILL CONTINUE TO ACCEPT RETURNS IN EXCHANGE FOR ITEMS IN OUR STORE INVENTORY[buyer pays return shipping within three days of receipt] The new, mandatory 14-day eBay return policy allows unscrupulous buyers the opportunity to peddle and abuse our material for two weeks and then return it for their money back. This policy will create a new wave of crooks that can easily create vast inventories with no investment risks save for the possible minimal cost of return shipping. In the meantime, we lose our packing and shipping expenses, we lose PayPal fees, we lose relisting fees, we lose potential clients, we lose weeks of exposure and we lose potential legitimate sales. Ours is a small operation with over 17 years serving the ... moreindigenous peoples of South America by documenting their cultures and sharing that information with the world. We believe that we offer the best and most accurate eBay descriptions in our field. At the moment. EBay sales are our only source of income. There are five of us working full-time in our Bolivian office plus five indigenous field investigators. That’s 10 people trying to work and support families on what’s often less than $2000 a month, not including operating costs. In the office, each of us makes.72 to.86 cents U.S. per hour and we work 50 to 60-hour weeks. Our monthly eBay sales are extremely important to us and we simply cannot afford to offer money-back returns. WE PROMISE TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO ASSURE THAT YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH YOUR PURCHASES. VISIT OUR AKA ARTS STORE A FINE CEREMONIAL SILVER TOPO PIN FROM BOLIVIA.
