2 Jacobus Stainer Violins with Two Bows and a Double Case Full 4/4 Size
Up for bid are two nice Jacobus Stainer violins with a double case and two bows. Please look at the pictures. The violins do need to be set up and the bows do need to be haired. There is not much else that would need to be done to make both of these instruments playable. Do keep in mind that these violins are somewhere in the realm of 100 years old. As such they show their age. I do know that the first series of violin pictures have been revarnished at some point in the past. I did not do this. The first violin also has some minor to moderate wood separation at the bottom bout. I personally do not mind these types of indicators of age. I am starting the bid on this lot at $250.00. A FANTASTIC antique or vintage violin measuring 23 1/2" long by approximately 8" wide. The wood has BEAUTIFUL tiger striping. In wonderful condition with no structural flaws found. From a recent estate and is in a shipping box having come from a violin restorer, apparently having been"overhauled" It comes with a metal vilion case measuring 31" long. I don't know if the case is original to the violin, I tend to think the instrument is older. I am not a violin person, please ask any questions. Copy of Joseph Guarnerius Made in Germany. We aren't sure of the maker or exact age, but do kno that it is very old. We're not an expert at violins, but it appears to be in okay condition. You do the Grading) The bridge fell apart and the strings are loose in the peg box as well. The other hardware appears original. The body has several scuffs and dings but the neck looks good. There are two bows included with although I don’t know much about them. The wood case is in vintage condition with scratches, dings and some patina to the metal hardware. Antique 4/4 "Giovan Paulo Maggini", Old violin case, Two Vintage bows
This is very nice. Double purfled, 4/4 violin. It has has a well flamed two piece back and beautiful, hand applied varnish. I don't know if it's been re-done or not, looks to have been played a good deal. Well built, it is fully blocked and lined. The fingerboard has been shimmed. There appears to be an old saddle crack repair that didn't show in the pictures. I see no other issues, but as with any violin of this age, there may be repairs that I am unaware of. Please see pictures. All in all, in remarkable shape. It measures 23 1/4" long, with a 14" back and 8" lower bout. The sale includes an old"junker" case and two bows that need rehairing. One of the frogs is broken and needs to be replaced. The violin is used with scratches. Scuffs and nicks. There appear to be some old repairs such as glued sides. The tuning pegs seem to be in good shape. Fingerboard has some wear. There are rows of scotch tape wrapped around the neck and fingerboard. I'm not sure if the fingerboard is loose and the tape is holding it in place, or if it is just there for some other reason. The first whole step up each of the strings is buzzing when played. Old German vintage 4/4 Strad Violin w/ case & bows -NICE ONE FlAMED BACK.
This auction is for an unrestored 4/4 size violin from the 1900s labelled" Nicolaus Amatus fecit in Cremona 1660" This one is a 4/4 size. Back measures 357mm. The back is a nicely flamed one piece with no soundpost cracks, there is one small crack pictured by the chinrest area. There are some top cracks, but none in the soundpost area. One picture shows an open crack under the chinrest. The bows are unmarked. It is playable but would benefit from some repairs and strings. Sold as is for parts or repair, no returns. On offer here are three vintage violin bows. 29 1/2 inches, 26 1/2 inches and 24 1/2 inches long. They all seem to need some attention, the longest the sliding piece of ebony needs tightened towards the shaft, a piece of tape has become frayed and there is a small crack at the tip of the bow. The second longest, the varnish is chipped and worn at the screw end otherwise in quite good condition. The smallest, the ivorine top is broken, the varnish is worn and dull otherwise in reasonable condition. Please see images below for condition. One bow is stamped with a name but not legible enough for me to make it out. The other bow is not marked as far as I can see. Condition of this violin is good. No cracks or repairs. It is in its original finish and there is only normal surface wear from use. VINTAGE AUBERT VIOLIN WITH INNER / OUTER CASE, 2 BOWS
Wooden violin measures 23&1/2" long end-to-end. Only identifying marking I could find was on the bridge which is faded but is"Aubert" possibility that only the bridge itself was manufactured by Aubert, I do not know for sure. Violin was purchased back in the 1950s, and even back then it was considered vintage. Comes with outer soft case, and inner hard shell, velvet lined inner case which has interior velvet cover with zip for violin(cloth strip that zipper is in has partially come free, could be re sewn to repair. The inner case very much worn(see pics) with tape and makeshift rope handle, but metal fixture closing clips all function, the soft outer case has rip at one of the edges, surface wear, small occasional hole, mild stain, zipper works, interior needs cleaning(see last pic) Violin itself in very good, clean, condition, ... morethere is wear to one of the side corner points(see pic) but that is the worst example of wear by far, was well kept otherwise. On neck I notice two small pieces of paper stuck to surface-may have been to mark particular note by musician. Comes with small accessories(see pic) at upper neck I tried tightening some of the strings by turning knobs but they do not stay tightened, they move right back, there must be a way to"lock in position" which I am not aware of. Violin itself relatively light, just a bit over a pound. In case are two bows which look very good, no damage. Vintage German 14" Viola (William Zeswitz) with 2 Bows and Hard Case
I am selling my childhood Viola. It was originally purchased for my brother and I in the early'70's from William Zeswitz. The label inside the viola carries his name and"Made in Germany" The viola body measures 14" and the total length is 23" I played this viola from third grade through high school so it has it's fair share of wear and nicks and scratches and dings(please look closely at the pictures) But is still in very playable condition. There are no cracks and the body and neck are solid. The tuning pegs seem to hold fine. The soundpost is intact. There are 2 fine tuners on the top two strings and a chinrest. It will need to be restrung(3 strings that are left are from the 80's) I was always told by my teachers and conductors that the viola had a very good tone. Also included are 2 Bows- 1 Glasser(with ... morehorsehair) and 1 unsigned(no horsehair left) A black hardshell case in good condition for it's age and a mute. From the top down: The Weimer is haired. But a bit thin and could use a re-hair. No grips. It has a slight curvature to the left. Fresh from an old estate. This violin was hand made in the late 1700's. About 1810. It was discovered that by slightly lengthening the neck of a violin, that the tone would become louder and more balanced. To accomplish this. The neck was grafted in a way to save the original scroll, as it is by the hand of the ... moremaker. Only the better violins were worth this additional effort. So when you see a grafted neck, you know the violin was deemed worth the effort. ITEM MEASUREMENTS Violin measures about 24" long total length. The body measures 14 1/8" long. The upper bouts measure 6 1/4" wide and the lower bouts measure 7 3/4" wide. The bow by H. W Prell measures 29 3/4" long. And weighs 53.4 grams. The bow by Gotz measures 29 1/8" long and weighs 54.7 grams. THIS ITEMS CONDITION REPORT This is in good condition. With old repairs. There are no sound post or bass bar cracks. Silver Creek model 2 (SC2) VIOLIN with case, bows, accessories
For bid is a used Silver Creek 4/4(full size) violin. Made in 2006. Purchased new from Musicians Friend and played off and on for about 1 year. Has not been played since. Stored in the case the entire time. The violin is in great shape, there is no damage to the body but there is a little wear on the fingerboard from the strings(under the 2 middle strings only) from where they press against the fingerboard while playing. I assume this is normal wear from playing, I am a guitarist not a violinist though. The tuning pegs are tight and can be difficult to turn, so they will need some lubrication. Violin comes with a nice case that has a built in hygrometer. 2 bows, a shoulder rest and some rosin. Current model retails new on Amazon and Musician's Friend for $449. Shipping is via UPS ground. So no PO Box addresses.

The violin was a Riker. This bow has no markings I can find. Bow is fairly straight and is playable, good camber. The hairs are a bit worn, but it is a 19th C bow as the Patena indicates. Leather handle and metal windings. Weight is 50 grams and measures 29 1/4" in length. A very nice bow to play or add to your collection.
