H ello- I have for auction a Vintage Yerba Mate Tea Bombilla Gourd Drinking Straw. My guess is the straw is made of stainless steel but I do not know its true compos ition. I found this straw at an Estate sale. I t is used and shows the e xpected sign s of normal use. The filter section does have some staining in the interior of the basket. It is in great condition. It is imprinted with"Argentina Ind" on one side and"Mar Rule" on the other. The straw is slightly curved at one end. Please see the pictures for style and condition. It measures about 6 1/2" long. Antique Argentina 800 Silver& 18K Gold Yerba Mate Gourde Cup& Bombilla Straw Antique Argentina 800 Silver Yerba Mate cup& bombilla straw with 18K gold accents. The silver on these pieces is not quite sterling(92.5% But rather 800 or 80% silver; a common standard used in serving wear. Cup appears to be handmade from a traditional gourde, and sits upon three silver feet. The cup is marked on the bottom"800" followed the brand mark of"Industria Argentina" and a sun like hallmark. The Straw features the same"800 Industria Argentina" mark on the base, and an"18K" on the gold tip. Nice vintage patina on both pieces- we will leave polishing them to your discretion, as we realize patina is some time prefered on older pieces. The bombilla straw is marked"800" which stands for 80% pure silver, and with a somewhat obscured either"10K or 18K" mark on the fold tip- not quite sure which. Normally, these straws unscrew and hing open at the base, but someone has soldered this one shut for some reason. The cup is made out of hollowed out gourde, and marked"ARGENTINA ALPACA" on the side. Yerba Mate Cup & Bombilla Straw Very Old Argentine Industria 800 silver 18K Go
This lovely old Yerba Mate vessel is stamped Industria Argentina. 800(Silver content is lesser than 925, a blend) and tip/mouth of straw stamped what I think is the word"Chapa" and 18K. Straw measures 7-7/8ths inches, and still has what appears to be the original shop sticker on"Los Incas" Gourd measures approx 3-3/4 tall and is about 3 inches across. Lovely hand metal work, and details. Very sweet, should clean up nicely. Thanks for looking.

VINTAGE YERBA MATE TEA STRAW & GOURD 18K GOLD ALPACA SILVER INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA
Vintage alpaca silver& 18K gold plate Yerba Mate tea straw and cup/gourd. This auction is for the vintage tea straw and cup as shown in the photos. The straw has a pierced threaded head which can be unscrewed from the shaft of the straw and is hinged to open up. It is marked on one side'INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA' and'ALPACA' on the other side and the gold coloured sipping end is marked'18K ENCHAP' This is not my area of expertise but from my research I think that Alpaca silver is not actual silver but an alloy of metals put together to look as close to silver as possible. Enchap' seems to mean'wrap around' so 18k Enchap may mean gold plated? or maybe it is solid gold? The gourd/cup is unmarked but also has the appearance of silver or silver plate and both the straw and gourd have some nice chased detail and ... moreare in good condition with no damge and just some age related tarnishing. I am not sure of the date of these pieces as similar items are still being made. Particularly the straws but they certainly have some age and I would think they are circa 1950's but possibly earlier. The straw is 20 cm long and the gourd stands just over 12 cm tall. I have put up lots of photos. This is hallmarked on the bottom as Alpaca often referred to as Alpaca Silver and the maker's name. The gold ornamentation looks exactly as 18K Gold should look and whether plated or not shows a gold content when tested. This is obviously handmade and the metalwork is beautiful. For use as a drinking vessel it will need to be properly cleaned or refinished. Other than that this is a beautiful piece of Argentinian handiwork that would look beautiful in any home or office. Up for auction is this beautifully designed vintage yerba mate footed gourd cup. Both cup and straw are marked on the bottom Alpaca Industria Argentina. It has the original patina. I did not polish it. It has scenic carvings and raised brass accents. It is 3 1/2 inches high. The bombilla tea straw has a marked 20 k gold mouth tip. It is 7 1/2 inches long and also nicely carved. This straw has a mouth piece that has been covered with an 18k gold sheet. If you check inside the end you'll be able to see where this sheet was rolled over the inner lip. This is different than gold plating. As gold plating is simply dipping or spraying a very thin layer of gold over an item. It also has 18k gold plated mounts ... morewhich include the three rings which stick out from the straw and the upper leaf pattern around the central ring. This straw, along with a second one, were in my grandparents estate. They often pulled these out and told us how this one was over a 100 years old. As this was 50+ years ago I'm guessing the age to be somewhere around the 1800's to early 1900 area. Condition: Very good. The end shows signs of teeth marks. But being such high grade gold this would be normal on an antique piece. The other end shows slight signs of dings around the edges. Nothing detracting but mentioned for accuracy. please see photo's) Measurements: 12.2cm x 2cm. Marks: There is some sort of hallmark where the end joins the straw. But it doesn't appear to be english, instead being a symbol of some sort. Rather like an elongated starfish. Sorry but it didn't show up in photo's. The straw it's self is unmarked but tests for 90-100% silver. I did not test the end as I didn't want to risk getting any of the material into the holes and contaminating it in any way. I apologize that my photo's can't seem to get the colors of the gold correctly. The end unscrews and opens up for adding the tea leaves directly into. About 2/3's of the straw has lovely leaf, or perhaps diamond pattern overlapping each other. This test's as sterling silver and appears to have been made of it rather than just plating it.
