I bought him and another one(which I already sold earlier on eBay) at a silent auction. It appears very old and customized for someone special. This ocarina is hand made. The top appears darker than the bottom(burnt or over baked? It has a fish figure at the top and what appears to be a fish head at the mouthpiece. There are a lot of carvings throughout. It works well and has three holes on the top and one on the back. It has two human faces–one on the bottom and one on the top. It is one of my most prized possessions. It has some cracks around all the shape of the body as head, face, base, arms chest and on the back but this due to the age and actually it is pretty good shape and also has a repair in one of her foot and 2 holes, one on the head and another one on the below area of the chin. Deer, goat, bird and butterfly. 5 1/2" x 3 1/4" x 2 3/4" A super charming piece. Estate find. This piece has some discoloration. Soiling and minor wear but still shows nicely. Leather hinged cover works well. I have not tried to clean it. Nice solid box. Bright folk painting.

Vintage Latin American Mexican Mayan Folk Art Clay Flute Pottery Figural
This vintage flute is made of dark clay. Unfinished on the back but glazed with red, green and gold paint on the front. It depicts a Mayan type man with fancy headdress and rings in his ears, sitting with his feet folded underneath him. The piece is quite sculptural and obviously hand-made. It's 8-1/2" tall and 4-1/2" across at the widest point. There's a mouthpiece(flat opening) at the very top, two holes on the back, and 6 smaller holes in the torso area. The flute makes a good sound, and condition is very good, with no chips or cracks. The glaze/paint is in very good condition. My guess is that a Mexican artist made and sold this as a souvenir, possibly in the 50's, but I have not way of documenting that other than borrowing information from similar pieces on e-Bay. Antique Jaguar Mask Guatemalan South American Wall Hanging Wood Carving Folk Art
Amazing wood carving in the form of a jaguar's head. Jaguar with open mouth showing bloody teeth. Hand painted in great detail. I believe this is carved from a lightweight wood. The head measures 8 1/4 inches from front to back. 6 1/2 inches from side to side, and is about 6 1/2 inches tall. Measurements were taken with head sitting flat on surface. The opening in the back doesn't seem large enough for the mask to be worn. I do not know the origin nor the age of the mask. More pictures available upon request. It's in great vintage condition.

We have for sale a vintage Mexican. Low heat fired clay, Full Body Mayan Figurine. Circa 1950's from Taxco. Mexico. It measures 6 1/4" tall X 4" wide. 3 1/2" deep, greenish olive brown in color. Here is a wonderful lot of glazed hand painted Tlaquepaque pottery! From what I was told. These pieces are from the 1930's and were made for tourists. and are highly collectible now. I purchased these pieces together. So I'm selling them together too. The true colors do not show up well in the photos, they are so much nicer in person! The background color of the pottery is a lovely earthy light camel tan. I do not see any markings to indicate if they are from Mexico. Or who painted them, but I am not an expert on Tlaquepaque pottery. The lot consists of three plates that are approx 7.5" in diameter, four plates/saucers that are approx. 5" in diameter, and four cups which have hand painted scenes all the way around them. GUATEMALAN MAYAN Native Folk Art DANCE of the Conquest MASK Dance Play
Originating within old Guatemalan Mayan native traditions and beliefs. A pre-contact tribal dance celebration was hijacked and changed into the Dance of the Conquest by the Spanish conquerors and Catholic Church to meet their purposes of quelling the conquered and brainwashing the native people into believing a rewritten history. Ever since then. The Catholic church has continuously and unabashedly promoted the dance-play’s performance throughout Guatemala to reinforce its hold on the people. We know this very old mask represents a Spaniard in the dance play because of the mustache. Sadly. Someone over-painted the entire mask with green acryllic paint(for a Halloween mask in the 1970’s perhaps? The green paint is coming off and could be easily removed completely because the paint below it is oil based. The wood mask appears to have originally ... morebeen painted red. And then over-painted in pink and brown paint before the eyes and mustache were painted on. Please see the close-up photos– especially at the edges of the mask where the red is most visible. The mask measures approximately 9” x 5.5” x 3” I took the hanging string off about half way through taking the photos. I would have removed the green paint but I like the effect. I believe the mask is from the early 20 th Century or earlier. The carving of the mask is true folk art. As is its first primitive painting, as is the effect of the over-painting after years of storage and handling and time- a triple treasure! Vintage Mexican Folk Art Pottery Oval Platters/Plates set of 2
Here's two charming Mexican Pottery Plates that are hand painted. In very good condition.One has a couple tiny(pin head size) flea bites on the edge and 5 tiny pop marks in the center edge. See picture. Does not detract from the overall appearence and is in fact pretty typical for all Mexican pottery. Bright colors and very shiny. Both are decorated with hand painted birds. Always a popular motif on Mexican Pottery from Latin America. This is a unique shape to add to your wall decorations. They measure 8 1/2" x 6" and have a slightly raised base. You can add a little hanger to the back if you wish to hang them. Great addition to your Latin American folk art. I priced them for quick sale. Be sure to find them both! GOOD LUCK! In this auction we have what is called Mola Art and the creators of it are the Kuna Indians of the San Blas Islands on the Panama Coast. This piece has multiple figures and birds. All distinguished in color and form. The actual panel is approx. 17 3/4" x 14 3/4" framed approx. 22 3/4" x 18 1/2" x 1 3/4" The fabric has faded some with age but we found no holes or tears in the panel. The frame shows minor signs of wear but works well with this style of folk art. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Below is a description pieced together from a site on the internet. The Mola consists of Sculpture through motif. It consists basically in a number of different colors of pieces of cloth laid one top of the other. VINTAGE MEXICAN NATIVITY SCENE IN WOODEN BOX FOLK ART HAND PAINTED
This is a Mexican nativity scene housed in a box with two doors. The outside doors of the box are hand painted with bright flowers. The inside has two scenes. The top one is the Nativity- two birds on rocks are next to Mary and Joseph. The baby Jesus is surrounded by four musicians. The bottom is a scene with a saint(Francis? There is a bird sitting on a cactus and two shepherds. All of the figures are intact with no breaks or chips. The doors are connected with small pieces of leather. It measures 9 and 1/2 inches tall to the top of the peak. The colors are stunning.
