Selling this Collection of RARE Antique and Vintage MOLAS from Kuna tribe. Panama. Some acquired from Kit Kapp collection, some from Bob Huber collection, some purchased in Panama in 1980s. Most Molas I am selling are very old. From the late 1800s to 1970. They have never been exhibited or previously sold, all from my private collection, which I gathered in about 35 years. This one is from c 1930. Nice geometric abstract design in red. Approx. dimensions 19" x 13 1/2" Purchased in Panama in 1980s. Mola. A Kuna word, has several meanings: fabric or cloth, shirt or upper garment for men or women, brightly decorated women´s blouses, or colorful layers of fabric, cut and hand-sewn into designs for fronts and backs of Kuna women´s blouses. Kuna women from the San Blas Archipelago produce most of the work, though some molas ... moreare also made by Kuna women from inland Panama and western Colombia. Selling this RARE Collection of Antique and Vintage MOLAS from Kuna tribe. Panama. Some acquired from Kit Kapp collection, some from Bob Huber collection, some purchased in Panama in 1980s. Most Molas I am selling are very old, from the late 1800s to 1970. They have never been exhibited or previously sold, all from my private collection, which I gathered in about 35 years. This pair of Molas I am selling was made by the same artist in c 1940. They should not be separated. Quite rare occasion. Nice design with 3 symmetrical, opposite directed tree-like geometrical statues. They are colorful, decorative, and should be framed. These Molas are quite large. They measure approx. 23" x 17" each. Purchased in Panama while traveling in the 80s. Mola.
