VINTAGE SHIPIBO CONIBO INDIAN FACE POTTERY VESSEL The Shipibo-Conibo are an indigenous people along the Ucayali River in the Amazon rainforest in Peru. Formerly two groups. The Shipibo(ape men) and the Conibo(fish men) they eventually became one distinct tribe through intermarriage and communal ritual and are currently known as the Shipibo-Conibo people. For your consideration I have a great looking vintage example of Shipibo-Conibo pottery from Peru which is in excellent condition. It was acquired at an estate sale a few years back. I was told that it was acquired on a trip to Peru in the 1960s. aside from a small nick in the glaze on the rim and another small nick on the ear both which could easily be touched up. I would rate this piece a 9/10 or better overall. There are no major chips and no cracks. It has a real presence and it displays ... morelike a champ!
