Painted brown with incised grooves, the nose is pronounced, the mouth is narrow and straight, and the ears are molded in the style of ornamental handles. This pot was hand molded and fired, and the walls are thick, solid and well-balanced. The natural beige surface is covered almost entirely with geometric patterns in brown, orange, and cream colors. The bottom of the pot shows a charred mark where it has been previously used, perhaps for preparing the Ayahuasca medicine brew for which this culture is frequently known. A thin crack on the front, approximately 7cm, appears to have been indigenously ... morerepaired. With this considered, the pot is still in very fine condition, especially considering its size and apparent age. Size: 11" tall. Over 14" diameter Ideal as a collection specimen or for display. Please examine the photos and ask any questions before bidding.
Vintage Latin American Mexican Mayan Folk Art Clay Flute Pottery Figural
This vintage flute is made of dark clay. Unfinished on the back but glazed with red, green and gold paint on the front. It depicts a Mayan type man with fancy headdress and rings in his ears, sitting with his feet folded underneath him. The piece is quite sculptural and obviously hand-made. It's 8-1/2" tall and 4-1/2" across at the widest point. There's a mouthpiece(flat opening) at the very top, two holes on the back, and 6 smaller holes in the torso area. The flute makes a good sound, and condition is very good, with no chips or cracks. The glaze/paint is in very good condition. My guess is that a Mexican artist made and sold this as a souvenir, possibly in the 50's, but I have not way of documenting that other than borrowing information from similar pieces on e-Bay. Payment is requested within 3 days of auction end.

TLAQUEPAQUE Vintage Mexico POTTERY PLATES DISHES CUPS c. 1930 ? Tourist FOLK ART
Here is a wonderful lot of glazed hand painted Tlaquepaque pottery! From what I was told. These pieces are from the 1930's and were made for tourists. and are highly collectible now. I purchased these pieces together. So I'm selling them together too. The true colors do not show up well in the photos, they are so much nicer in person! The background color of the pottery is a lovely earthy light camel tan. I do not see any markings to indicate if they are from Mexico. Or who painted them, but I am not an expert on Tlaquepaque pottery. The lot consists of three plates that are approx 7.5" in diameter, four plates/saucers that are approx. 5" in diameter, and four cups which have hand painted scenes all the way around them. I placed the cups upside-down to show the designs. Some of the pieces have wear and some glaze/paint ships, ... moreI don't see any breaks or repairs. Will be shipped fully insured. Thank you!

Antique Native American or Mexican Pottery Canteen / Folk Art Pictorial Designs
Antique Native American or Mexican Pottery Canteen Folk Art Pictorial Designs Men with Guns& Animals ~ please scroll down for more photos and information ~ SIZE: Height- 5.5” Width- 5.25” Depth- 3” DESCRIPTION: Fine antique Native American or Mexican hand-made and painted pottery canteen. This piece dates to the early 20th century or possibly even the very late 19th century and has pictorial naive paintings. On both sides, of hunters and animals. One side shows a hunter wearing a hat, with an old rifle(flintlock? on his shoulder and his dog following behind. The other side shows another hunter with a rifle, no hat, and he appears to have a bird, possibly that he shot, attached to a bow-like device on his back. Both men are wearing western-style(maybe Spanish Colonial style) clothing and neither are Native Americans. There are large plants ... moredepicted in front of both men. The pottery canteen is of a buff colored clay with red painted images with black outlines. The canteen’s handles are of a small lug-type form. Typical of Native American canteen handles. The rim of the canteen top in finished in red. The bottom of the piece shows a dark firing cloud as does one of the handles. The surfaces show small crazing to the slip as is typical of antique Southwest pottery. I don’t know the origin of this piece. But probably from a Southwest American Pueblo, or a Northern Mexico region. Whatever the origin, the Naive imagery and pictorial design, as well as the form, make this a museum quality example of Southwest pottery. AGE: Circa 1920. Early 20th century(possibly late 19th century) CONDITION: Good condition. As shown in the photos and with the following noted: No hairlines. No restorations. Several very tiny flakes to the surface slip finish(hard to see but mentioned for accuracy in description) Light fading to the design over all. Light soiling and old patina over all. ~ please click on image for high definition photos ~ This piece will be a museum quality addition to any collection of Tribal Ceramics a
Ancient Pre-Columbian COLIMA FAT DOG VESSEL Mexico AUTHENTIC Art Pottery Figure
Colima Dog This is a wonderful Colima figural dog vessel. As found in a local estate and believed to be an ancient piece from Western Mexico, approximately two thousand years old. The dog is fat- or pregnant- with a hollow body in aggressive stance with tail that forms a spout. The dog's eyes and mouth are incised into the clay. Dog effigies such as this were buried in tombs in the belief that dogs were an important guide into the afterlife of the deceased. Both of the dog's ears are chipped; one with minor loss. The other more significantly. Two legs have been re-glued; the repairs are rough and amateur, and the break lines appear to have had some loss and are not well-aligned. The burnished reddish brown exterior is mottled and veined. And the interior is encrusted with mineral sediment. The dog came to me without information on ... moreits history or provenance. But shows many indications of its age. It's a fascinating piece that is sure to complement any collection. Two legs repaired somewhat roughly. One ear is broken. The other is chipped. Other expected wear. Burnished exterior, rough interior with sediment deposits. 9 3/8" long. 6" high, 5" across[ p e n c i l p o i n t e r Shipping? FREE via USPS Priority International Shipping? Beautiful Vintage Mexican Golden Eagle Folk Art Pottery Terracotta Bowl 1940s
Beautiful Vintage Mexican Golden Eagle Folk Art Pottery Terracotta Bowl 1940s- 22.5 x 7cm The bowl has a fluted green rim; the inner border has painted scallop designs in dark blue and white. All the scallops are outlined. The border below the scalloped motif are faux Greek key motifs in gold and dark orange. The center motif appears to be a bird with brightly painted colors of yellow and orange; around the perimeter of the bird are motifs of flowers, leaves and ferns. The bird appears to be the National Bird of Mexico which is the powerful eagle, not the bald eagle of the North American States. The bird in Mexico is known as the"golden eagle" or Carcara(a native falcon) Over the centuries, the Mexican"eagle" misnomer became so common, the name sticks today and comes from a golden red pictograph found in ancient tribal ... morecodices or books and appeared among the Aztecs during the 1700's. After the Spanish invasion, the bird, golden eagle, or caracara falcon would become Mexico's famous national emblem. The upper part, on the outside of the bowl, has a motif of flowers and ferns; there are 3 feet or a tripod. The bowl is terracotta(clay) and shows a slight glossiness, not a glaze, but shows as a glaze. Unglazed pottery would date to the Pre-Hispanic period. Thank you for your interest. If you require any more information. Please do not hesitate to contact me. Mexican Pottery Plates Set of 2-Nice small oval Hand Painted Folk Art Plates
Here's two charming Mexican Pottery Plates that are hand painted. In very good condition. One has a couple tiny(pin head size) flea bites on the edge and 5 tiny pop marks in the center edge. See picture. Does not detract from the overall appearence and is in fact pretty typical for all Mexican pottery. Bright colors and very shiny. Both are decorated with hand painted birds. Always a popular motif on Mexican Pottery from Latin America. This is a unique shape to add to your wall decorations. They measure 8 1/2" x 6" and have a slightly raised base. You can add a little hanger to the back if you wish to hang them. Great addition to your Latin American folk art. I priced them for quick sale. I have a couple more of this same style to add in another color. Always happy to combine shipping. Thanks for visiting today. Stop back soon ... moreas our stock is constantly chianging.
