Industrial Toledo Metal 14" H Rolling Stool 14" D UHL Steel Furniture Painted
All castors roll and ossilate freely. Original label identifies it as made by"Toledo Steel and UHL Metal Furniture Co. This one came from a closed machine shop in New Britain. Cute little guy and mighty handy. It was rusty when I got it and as much as I hate new paint I felt it needed some curb appeal. I used 000 steel wool and thinner to clean it and painted it with Rustoleum Hammered Paint. I did not paint the bottom of the seat to keep the label visible. I have some nice items including more industrial things like lites etc this week. PLease have a look.

This identified by the seatback attachment, among other obvious things. This chair is in great condition overall for it's age. No damage or mechanical issues. Even the wheels are smooth. I have not done much to this chair but gently cleaned steel with 0004 steel wool, and Murphys Oil Soap. So the original green is preserved nicely, and the patina is excellent looking(aged) chair; for the Modernist, Steampunk, Machine Age, or Drafting/Engineering Type. This exquisite Toledo Art Steel stool came to us with the seat upholstered in shag carpet. Our competent staff removed the shag carpet. Sanded, stained, and refinished the seat to restore the authentic beauty of the seat. A small area on the edge of the stool seat was damaged by the staples. The damage was sanded smooth and adds a little character to the finished piece- see picture. The base of the stool was very much intact, aside from paint wear, and we have left it original. Vintage Toledo Metal Furniture Industrial Drafting Stool UHL Steel mid century
I have other UHL and vintage industrial items listed and more on the way. This is a cool stool with great patina it hasn't been cleaned or restored it looks cool as is or if you want you could paint it. This is 18 tall and 14.25 wide it is very sturdy it will hold anyone. The front legs are molded with a curve in them at first I thought they were bent but they were made that way not sure of their purpose but it does make working on things on the ground easier with a tilt to the seat.

Awesome industrial machine-age drafting stool made by UHL STEEL FURNITURE/ THE TOLEDO METAL FURNITURE CO. Toledo OH. See the yellow maker marking in the picture for all of the maker information. The stool is in good vintage condition. It has a very nice aged look to it that some people like so I haven't really tried to clean it up much. I'll leave that decision to the buyer. The wood face of the back rest is coming up at the edges in a few places, not damaged just needs re-glued. The metal frame has a fair amount of rust as can be seen in the pictures. The nut on the rear side of the back rest is is covered in masking tape. It actually works very well for turning the nut in order to adjust the back-rest height. The adjustment mechanism works very well for both the back rest and the seat height. Overall. The chair is very sturdy. It ... moreswivels smoothly and adjust easily. DIMENSIONS: The seat sits 25" high at its lowest position and 30" at its highest. The back rest sits between 7" to 11" above the seat. The actual seat is about 16.5" wide And 14" front to back. The back rest is about 13.5" wide and 6" tall. The overall stool height ranges from about 38 1/4" to 42 1/2" It has 7 different height adjustment options. There is a brass tag on the rear of the back-rest stamped"O 122940" I'm not sure of the significance of this. Up for auction is this really nice vintage machine age stool by Toledo Stool/ Ohio Steel. The seat and back of chair are in very good to excellent condition. There is some rust and pitting on the bottom of the legs and round feet.There is still some of the original paper label on the frame underneath and metal label EATON RICH on the opposite side see photos no. 4& 5.It has a spring load lever to adjust seat height. It turns/swivels.There appears to be a weld on the frame see photo no. 8 original? The top of this Toledo stool was split and beat up when it came to us. Our competent staff reglued. Sanded, stained, and finished the seat. The stool seat does still have some deep scratches from wear and a small saw nick on the side from some incident in the past. The base of the stool was very much intact, aside from paint wear, and we have left it alone. The stool seat measures about 15" in diameter, the foot print of the stool legs are 15" x 15" the stool height adjusts between 33" and 27.5" and the foot rest is 16" in diameter. DESIGN: A rare and versatile early Industrial Toledo UHL Steel task desk with matching Walnut seat stool circa 1930. Completely manufactured of solid high gauge steel throughout with original Brown enamel finish. All very well engineered and machined. Manufactures decal marking is evident on the backside rail of the desk. Although it is worn it is legible as the early shield/scroll design logo. CONDITION: This impressive set is in well used but completely intact ideal patina original condition. Solid, stable and fully functional. Antique Machine Age Industrial Chair Stool Steel Do-More Casters Adjustable UHL
Here we have a great Machine Age industrial chair. This chair is made of steel and I have seen people listing them as UHL Toledo and also as Do-More stools. I have not seen any markings on this chair to indicate either of them as being the brand. The casters are Bassick casters and as you can see from the photos there is some wear and chipping to the wheels. Photo 10 shows the worst of the chipping to one of the wheels. As you can see from the photos this chair has been repainted and maybe recovered but it was obviously done awhile ago. The back rest of the chair is about 31 inches tall and the back rest is about 15 inches wide. The seat is about 17 1/2 inches tall and is 12 1/2 inches by 16 inches. The back rest of the chair is adjustable as you can see. The seat of the chair looks like it may adjust but I wasn't able to figure out how ... moreit does so. Antique Industrial Adjustable Cast Iron Steel Stool Seat Chair like UHL Toledo
This is an absolutely killer industrial chair/ stool. With adjustable seat back. The two things that really stick out to me as unusual with this are the seat back assembly and the splayed out feet. The height of the seat is approx. 18" With the seat back(as configured currently) at 31" though it can adjust higher or lower to desired height. The feet create a rectangle of approx. 13 1/2" x 14 1/2" The seat is approx. 14 1/2" in diameter. The only minor issue I can discern is that the front piece of the seat is seperated(totally stable as is. Since the metal ring is supporting underneath) and just needs to have some wood glue put into the crack to tighten it back up. Visible in last photo. Sold with No Reserve. Cir. 1930's antique American industrial adjustable height factory workshop stool. Designed and patented by Clement Uhl for the Toledo Metal furniture co. Toledo, oh. This workhorse was in service for over 80 years at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Last year. It was rescued and painstakingly restored. The stool features a distinctive steel base containing four stretchers of concave metal straps connected to the legs and joined by a circular strip in the center or"spider" The frame was stripped of the factory enamel. Leaving a beautiful brushed steel finish and sealed to prevent oxidation by a clear commercial grade lacquer. AUTHENTIC TOLEDO UHL METAL FURNITURE COMPANY DRAFTING CHAIR circa 1940s or 1950s. I just listed a near identical one if you want a matching pair. I PURCHASED TWO TOLEDO CHAIRS IN GOOD CONDITION TWO YEARS AGO AT AUCTION(BUT THERE WERE SOME SCRATCHES AND STAINS ON THE WOOD AND THE ORIGINAL GREEN/BROWN PAINT I DID NOT CARE FOR) FIRST AND FOREMOST: This is no Restoration Hardware knockoff. There is no stamp or sticker visible as it was removed during repainting the base. Then I lost it.what can I say. I'm not a professional handyman or carpenter. I disassembled the chair the best I could but did not want to remove the rivets. All wood was sanded to the grain. Stained with a walnut colonial finish, and given two coats of clear non glossy polyurethane. Chairs are in very good structual condition. Walnut chair seat and back are in great condition in relation to these chairs age. Metal shows surface rust as pictured, but I have decided to leave them in the original condition with the green paint as some prefer the patina that comes with age. Original rubber feet with the words"Pussyfoot" and"Toledo Metal Co. are imprinted into the rubber. These chairs fabricated around 1922-25 ... moreby the toledo metal furniture co. toledo, oh. the factory office chair was made according to the recommendations of the american posture league of new york city. its use brings the pelvis in right relation to the spine, so that one's weight is distributed over the pelvis and thighs. nearly all parts of the chair are comprised of steel, cold rolled and die formed. the base is rigidly braced and has long wearing quality. the braces which make the base rigid are held in place by retainers set inside the"u" shaped legs, so that there is no pivoting motion to weaken the construction. the back wire or spring support is made of spring steel and yields pleasantly to the pressure of the body. four bolts with large size wing nuts hold the seat and"spider" in the base of the chair. adjustment of height is accomplished by removing the wing nuts and bolts, setting at proper heights and replacing the bolts. no tools are necessary to make this adjustment, which is three inches on each chair by half inch steps. the seat should always be level, which is assured by seeing that the same number of holes appear above or below the brace on each leg of the large steel channel

Vintage Industrial Steel Stool Toledo Ohio Metal UHL Swivel Adjustable Chair
I saved this chair from the trash 15 years ago. Because I loved the swivel feature and how comfortable it was- and it still is. As you can see from the photos, it is rusty and the feet are very worn. The seat is about 14.5" in diameter. When at it's lowest point, the chair is about 28" tall, and about 33" at it's max height. The hoop at the bottom is about 18" in diameter. Two Vtg Toledo Wood Metal UHL STEEL Industrial Drafting Chair Stools Adjustable
Two awesome UHL STEEL drafting stools. Both are missing Bottom seat. They were too far gone so I removed them. Everything is there and they haven't been tampered with. They would look great cleaned up and repainted. The wooden back rests are still good and you can adjust both of these seats. One is on wheels and will scoot. But there is cloth wrapped around two of the wheels that stop it from rolling how it should, easy fix but haven't messed with it. One has a brass badge stamped UHL STEEL POSTURE. Other is stamped with the UHL STEEL logo but it is worn off. Both have some surface ruse here and there but it isn't hard to remove. Heavy duty factory type item. About the SPS or Standard Pressed Steel Company In 1903 Howard T. Hallowell and Harald F. Gade. A Norwegian engineer, ... morealong with their friends and relatives, started the Standard Pressed Steel Company. The company still exists and makes high tech metal items. In 1920 the Standard Pressed Steel Company moved its operations to one site in Jenkintown. A Philadelphia suburb that remained the firm's headquarters in the decades ahead. This vintage Uhl Art Steel"Perfection" chair was made by the Toledo Chair Company and dates to the early twentieth century. It measures approximately 31&3/4" tall and the seat is 14&1/4" in diameter. The chair is structurally sound with no breaks in the welds. It has surface rust and wear to the black paint. Which gives it a great industrial patina. One of the back chair legs has a broken-off piece on the metal disk at tip. This does not affect the stability of the chair-it sits flat and does not wobble at all on a flat surface. We purchased this(an one other listed in another auction) from an older gentleman at a sale who said he and his brothers had attended a rural one room schoolhouse in Richmond Iowa and these chairs were used as the"dunce" chairs when kids were bad. Now. I have no way to confirm this but there is what appears to be either an F12 or R12 stamped in the wood on the edge of the seat and the top piece of plywood on the edge as well. Although the plywood does have a few bad spots/scratches/small missing section etc, it is essentially intact. The majority of the mess you see on the back and the middle of the front is old masking tape and some other kind of dark ... moreresidue on the back. I know the masking tape residue will come off with alcohol but I'm not touching these. From Wisconsin Department of transportation. The wooden seat and back are clean with no deep scratches or stains. The pictures that I took using a flash appear to have white marks on the steel. Original Toledo UHL Steel Vintage Industrial Swivel Student Drafting Chair Stool with adjustable Back Rest. APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS: With the chair fully extended. The seat height is 21 1/2"High; and with the chair completely retracted or lowered- the seat is 16 1/4"High. CONDITION: On a scale of 1 to 10. With 10 being PERFECT; I rate this chair an 8 out of 10. This is due to the light scuffing. It is in EXCELLENT condition with a beautiful patina. VERY DECORATIVE!

Here is one unknown metal drafting stool. Or shop chair, in the industrial toledo uhl era 1920-1950s style. If you know the maker. Please do let me know. I think its pretty old. And may be 1920s? Leg material is steel. With surface rusted chrome, and a screw for height adjustment. The original seat is made from a wood base. And vintage oil cloth material. Its got a worn and rugged patina. But would also polish up with some steel wool. The makers stamp is not present on the seat underside. So its of unknown make. Its in as found condition. And can be used as is. This is a heavy duty factory type item. But the screws need tightened some. Dimensions in inches: 12.5 wide at the feet x 13.8 seat diameter. The seat height adjusts from 17.5 to 24.5 overall height. This is an authentic 1930s swivel stool by Toledo Metal Furniture Company. OH. The measurements: 33" tall at the highest( 28 1/2" at the lowest) seat setting, seat- 15" diameter. UHL Toledo Art Steel Industrial Drafting Chair with Very Rare Details
This chair is different than any UHL chair I've seen before in that the footrest is attached to the legs by a small bracket. Something they must have done for just a year or so. Others have"Clunky" brackets holding the footrest that take away from the amazing and timeless form of this antique chair. Also unique is the brass nametag on the back of the backrest instead of the sticker below the seat. This makes me think that this chair is older than most. It is in good condition, does not wobble(meaning brackets are sound) Spring in seat adjustment still works, as well. Note: I installed the backrest bracket backwards. It is much neater looking when installed properly. Will correct and upload photo soon. The seat is not original, so I covered it to make it more comfortable. It is very comfortable and the first office chair produced ... morewith ergonomics in mind, with adjustable seat and backrest heights(note the brass tag has"approved by The American Posture League" I have many other fabric choices, for example: blue, cream, tan, grey, rust, or orange linen fabrics. I will send images to the buyer of all choices and will recover in selected fabric for no additional cost with brass colored or silver furniture nails(you have the option of letting these show around edges) Also, the feet are missing. I would think they are easy to find but the rolled steel legs will fit casters, which would be a cool addition. I brushed the legs, leaving a rich patina. Was considering a Japonica finish, but will let the buyer decide how they would like to finish to fit their decor. This is a great piece of American craftsmanship! Probably 100 years old and The Cherry Wood Live Edge small desk or bookshelf in photos can be purchased on Ebay now as well. It is a good size for a studio. Loft, dorm, or apt. It includes hinges that will allow you to fold up and carry to the beach or fold up onto wall. Which would make it a great Korean style dining table-just add pillows and Bulgogi!
