It was originally RED on the top, you can still see the original color through the corrosion and rust. In all its natural glory. This awesome authentic dairy barn milking stool makes a great decor piece or photography studio or theater production prop. Sits fine and is still usable and stable. Measures 12" high. Seat is round, 9" circumference. Smaller circle with 1-1/2" star cut out is 4" around in circumference. Finish is rusty with some corrosion. Hardware appears all original. Top of seat is not completely level and straight, it has conformed a little from years of use and has slight bends present on seat, see all photos. Appears to be an all original. When we've lost or forgotten or threw out so many other items since those days back in the 1950's. We had a couple horses, the cow, some chickens, some bantam hens, couple ducks, couple geese, and always a dog back then and now. The stool weighs about 7 lbs. and good and solid and would make a great addition to a collection or for the use it was made for another 50-100 years. ANTIQUE RED PAINTED CARVED WOOD OVAL MILKING FOOT STOOL~ WITH HAND EMBROIDERED SEAT WITH BUTTERFLY AND FLOWERS 9" TALL this is a very old and dirty carved wood milking/foot stool which has at some time a long time ago been painted red-it has a very old and very dirty but absolutely charming hand embroidered seat- on a coarse cloth. The wool embroidery features butterflies hovering over colourful flowers- in greens,blues reds creams and yellows the embroidery is very well executed and charming and has a textured braid finish around the outside where pins hold it in place on the stool- please note that the cloth smells of smoke and the fabric is discoloured and has some dried glue marks as it was later covered with another fabric which has since been removed- several of the stool legs are loose- they have signs of old dried glue at the ... moresockets so have probably been fixed in the past-the wood is most probably pine. Although hard to see through the paint despite its obvious issues as described above. Up for your bid is a genuine metal milking stool straight from the farm. This stool had some rust. So it was sand blasted and sprayed with primer gray Rustoleum paint- so it is ready to paint any color you desire(great painting surface for the tole artist,too. This is a 3 legged stool with hand forged welded joints. It measures 12 3/4 inches high, 9 3/4 inches in diameter. There is a handy hole for hanging( these were hung on a nail with legs facing outward. There is another hole where the metal was weak along the edge and broke through, doesn't affect its usability, just gives it an extra dose of character. SWIVEL Seat Milking Stool UNUSUAL Antique 3 Legged Wooden Pennsylvania PRIMITIVE
A Primitive Antique Hand Hewn Wooden Pennsylvania Farm Stool c.1880's from Lancaster County. Pennsylvania A Hand Hewn Milking Stool with Rare Unusual Swivel Seat DESCRIPTION A Primitive Old Farm Stool from Lancaster County An Antique Pennsylvania Farm Stool that is most unusual. we've never seen another one like this. a true and quite rare PRIMITIVE handmade wooden stool still with quite a lot of old dry surface paint finish visable. This was made so that the top portion of the stool rotates. A rare SWIVEL SEAT milking stool. The entire stool is all hand hewn and comes apart in three pieces. Probably originally used in the barn for milking cows. It's extremely old. Certainly at least c.1880 and possible well before that date. The base has three legs that are mortised through the thick slab of wood that supports the seat. Looking ... moredown on the top of this part of the stool. You can see that all three of the legs are mortised and tenon construction. Each was fitted with a small piece of wood, splaying the top portion of the leg and adding strength to the join. One tenon has an old nail through it. Each of the legs was hand hewn, you can see the axe marks clearly on them. One of the legs was replaced, but many years ago, it has a more rough surface and there is no old paint on that one. The other two have a smooth feel to the surface, and you can still see and feel the axe marks. The seat is made from one solid piece of oak. Again all hand hewn. It's quite wide and oval shaped measuring 12" across in one direction and 11" across in the opposite direction. And it is dish shaped, raised at the sides and dips down low toward the center. The height of the seat portion varies. From wear and use, depending on where you measure, it is anywhere from 3" to 2-3/8" high. Lots of wear visable and old paint around the canted sides. The seat rests upon the slab section that holds the legs and you can see the wear to the wood where they have rubbed against each other over many years. A hand carved

VINTAGE CUSHMAN COLONIAL CREATIONS FOOT STOOL/MILKING STOOL#9038 EXCELLENT Stool is in very good vintage condition. Measures L 13" x W 8 x H 8" A Cushman stool made in Bennington. VT. Please note photos for condition. I have taken a picture of each side. As well as bottom for numbering- 9038- F. The stool just shows normal wear and some very light scratches. As noted in one photo. There is a crack(it only goes part way through, and may have been there since it was made.not sure) I am not an expert on this type of item. So I have described it as I see it.
