Antique Small Folding Footstool Stepstool-Needlepoint Top-C.1920-30's
A nice old folding stool which I was told was to be used as a step stool for climbing up into old cars from the 1920-1930 era. I don't know if the needlepoint top would have been used then or if it is something which was added later. The needlepoint is old. Has faded some and does show some wear but there are no holes in it. Two of the corners have been stitched over to cover the wood but two corners have not. The stool is made of wood, the legs fold under and there is a bar which'locks' the legs in place. The piece measures approx. 9 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 4 1/2" tall when opened. This makes a very nice stand for display and really cute for displaying dolls. Great little stool.

Offered antique American foot stool with needlepoint top. The top shows beautiful European motif wool needlepoint in great condition. No stains. Moth holes, odor or separation from the back tacked to the wood. Colors are light blue background edge with greens, burnt umber, wheat colors. What a lovely footstool! It measures 16 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 9 inches. The needlepoint top features a lovely floral scene on a black ground. There is some wear to the needlepoint- some small holes here and there- see photo 9. The stuffing in the top has compacted a bit so the top curves in a bit- it just needs a little extra stuffing to bring it back up again. The base has been glued in places- see the last two photos but overall and there is a chip or two to the wood but overall. This antique footstool has a beautiful look- it's a great old piece!

This came from a NJ estate. The wood used to make the cushioned surface is finished on the bottom even though it would be hidden. This wood is very clean and clear of defects and appears to be a different grain than the bottom. There is a name and date engraved in this underside: A.D.Mowery 1941. Mahogany Double handle Foot stool Needlepoint top Fruit design Overall very good condition. A few areas of loss on the needlepoint. The pear in the middle has a section that isn't done. It seems like the needlepoint artist did this on purpose to show some shading. This is a great addition to any den or living room! I just LOVE it! Found in a local estate. The woman did lots of needlepoint. Beautiful large home on the water in Rhode Island. Lovely work! About 8 1/2 in high About 17 1/4 in across About 10 in deep Dark red maroon background
