Now featuring a face-lift ... morewith my hand painting rendition of an old Paris post card. This stool was fun to paint, and I sure hope you enjoy viewing it! Oodles of detail involved! After sanding and priming. I painted the background of the legs and the top in a strong pink color. The spindles and the edge of the top were painted with"lavender frost, a lovely color with just a hint of lavender in it. Then the fun began! I painted a detailed border of prim dots to resemble antique lace. In the center of the lace I painted a vintage-looking Parisian postal card. Finishing off the painting are my signature cabbage roses in the corner. Signed by me, and then sealed several times with a high-gloss sealant to offer you years of beauty and use. This stool is old. It has a slight wobble to it. But it's still plenty sturdy. I have sat and stood on this, and it held me just fine. Through the years there was some repair work done to the stool(I believe the stool is hand-made) as there is some glue residue down a leg or two. I couldn't sand the residue off, so what the heck, I just painted right over it. This just adds, I feel, to the vintage charm of this piece! No miniature here.the stool measures a full 17-3/4 inches high. The top is 1 foot squared. The legs"flare" out a little bit at the bottom. And they are 11-1/2 inches deep, front to back, and their widest point. What a wonderfully unique way to display a potted plant in your front foyer or outside on your patio! Give your little Granddaughter her own special place to sit when she comes to visit you by letting her rest upon this! You could even display a cherished knicknack on this enclosed under a ball jar. However you decide to display it(or actually USE it to reach those pesky high-up items) It's sure to draw compliments! Capturing the essence of the Regency period in a design that is clearly executed during the 20th Century. The scrolled arms form an overall cupped shape to the seat, upholstered in a rich red velvet, this in overall very good condition being recently reupholstered at a shop in Maryland based on the label underneath. The surface is distressed, primarily a silvered finish highlighted by gilt-gold. The arms scroll in an acanthus-inspired motif to culminate in leafed rosettes, flowing into the carved reeded silvered supports that join at the apron in a gilt pattern of repeating droplets at the center. The ... morelegs cross and flow with a soft curve into carved Lion Paws, each very well executed with remarkable detail. Being very sturdy and without any noteworthy flaws. This is simply an outstanding find for the professional interior decorator. It has endless scenarios of design: as that perfect piece between two large windows beneath a hanging painting, in front of a dressing table in the bathroom or dressing room, or as a corner chair with a blanket folded across one arm. We are pleased to offer this BEAUTIFUL. Antique bench or chair. This absolutely stunning piece is constructed solid wood and is highlighted with an abundance of turned wood, spool spindles. The bench was part of an antique bedroom ensemble and resembles the old, Jenny Lind style. The bench back looks like an antique twin headboard and the bench may have made from an old headboard. The bedroom suite was French Empire in style so we have classified this bench in that category. The bench has a tall, open spindle back with a large slat and spool at the top. There are no arms, but the spindles hyper-extend the sides and front for an"arm" feature. The legs and all of the spindles are turned. The wood is finished in a black stain. This large bench has a reclaimed wood, slat style seat which is primitive in terms of texture and appearance. ... moreIt is gorgeous as is or it could be upholstered if desired. This wonderful bench or stool was acquired by my grandfather for use with a spectacular Louis XV style grand piano. It is larger and more deeply upholstered than many piano benches. And it is possible that it was originally intended for use with a dressing table or as a window seat. It is also easy to imagine it as extra seating near a sofa or even as a coffee table if used with a tray. In any event, it is obviously a piece that can serve in a variety of ways. This piece is approximately 38 inches long. 21 inches wide, and 21.5 inches tall. I have classified it as cherry. Though it is most likely walnut or some other fruitwood. It is structurally sound and, in my opinion, in very good condition given its age. I believe that it was made no later than the'20s, but I am not an expert. You may be able to retain the existing upholstery by ... morehaving it cleaned. You will probably want to clean and brighten the finish, which has dulled a bit with age. It has five legs although I believe it originally had six but its hard to tell since the one may have been broken off in the middle under the carved piece. Measures 29" long x 13" deep x 7" tall. The carving is of a quality above reproach in a manner typical of the period. The frame with a repeating and laurel leaf motif flanked on either corner by highly detailed rosettes set over turned and tapered legs with crisp fluting beneath a bold acanthus knee and terminating in bold ring turned feet. It is covered with an early velour of a mellow rusty hue with wonderful variation throughout, in our opinion a very attractive companion to the bench in it's current condition. This is a very striking piece, the burnished gilding particularly well done and brilliant under the light surface oxidization and tarnish. This is a precious ... morepiece that will a fine addition to any rooms with a French flair, though it also juxtaposes modern furniture with clean lines quite handsomely.
