vintage 40s Toledo UHL Draftsman Stool OAK SEAT & GREEN BASE chair Machine Age
Very nice all original UHL Toledo Draftsman pivoting chair with wooden casters. This is the first one I have had with quartersawn tiger oak seat and back. The height adjustment(15-1/4" to 18-1/4" is made via the metal plates under the seat. O riginal military green finish base with only normal light surface wear. No damage. Very sturdy. An excellent chair. By removing 4 wing nuts the seat easily separates from the base- I have priced shipping based on my doing this to reduce the package size. If you prefer that I ship it in one piece I can adjust the shipping rate to reflect the actual cost of doing so. There are scratches on the paint but overall the paint is pretty good. Mechanically it is complete and operates properly. The swivel pads are intact and work well. Overall condition is very good. Has label on base"edsal" which looks to be dated 1967. Stool shows average cosmetic wear. No rust. Dents, etc. I think the screw on the back rest may be a replacement. Good sturdy piece. Legs adjust with screws to a variety of heights. At the tallest it measures 25" from floor to seat and shortest it is 17.5" from floor to seat. Back rest height can also be adjusted for height or back rest can be removed with a screw at the bottom of the stool. Many options. Here we have a great industrial stool from the Machine Age. This pressed steel chair has a great green color and an adjustable and removable back support. The seat of the stool is about 14 inches in diameter and stands about 18 inches high. A vintage work shop table type swing out seat. The seat is made of wood apr. 10 1/2 inches in diameter and apr. 1 1/2 inches thick. We did not notice any damage to the wood as far as chunks missing or cracks. The metal parts are made of cast iron and is designed to mount on the corner of a leg/ post. The seat is very solid and has many years of use left. Will need to be cleaned of old paint or left as is. The pictures should show the rest. The seat height as I have it raise to the level shown is 38 inches to the top of the back rest and the seat is 26 inches from the floor. The wood seat is 16 inches wide x 14 1/8 inches deep. The back rest is 13 3/4 inches wide x 6 inches high. the metal steel circle around the bottom is 21 inches across. Vintage Industrial Toledo UHL Draftsman Stool Machine Age Chair 1930s Green NR
This 1930's Toledo Steel UHL Industrial draftsman or shop design stool is in very good condition. The metal on the legs and seat support rim is a dark industrial green and shows minimal wear for a stool of this age. The wood seat has the original finish and has a green tint to it. The foot rest is missing most of the paint on the top and shows more tarnish than the legs. As would be natural for this area of the stool. The pad ball feet also show some tarnish. I think the foot rest and feet could easily be cleaned with a light scrbbing of steel wool and some oil. The rest of the stool needs nothing more than a light cleaning with oil or wax. It is structurally sound and has no missing parts that I can see. It has the majority of the original foil label still intact on the underside of the seat. Vintage Toledo Drafting Chair in good functional condition with typical wear. This is chair#2 of 3 that we have listed. Overall the wood is in good. Clean condition with some surface scratches and expected wear. No veneer peeling or cracking. The base metal and grey paint is original and shows wear and some paint loss. The metal glides are good and intact. Seat height adjustment and backrest adjustment mechanisms are functional. Seat height at front edge adjusts from 15 1/2" up to approximately 19" We've given this a light cleaning but some detail cleaning would really make it sharp. Here we have a vintage or antique Machine Age industrial drafting stool by UHL Toledo. This stool is the authentic item but it is missing it's label. As you can see from the photos there is some wear and paint damage as well as some mild rusting but it is in great condition as you can see from the photos an awesome look. The seat of this stool is about 24 inches tall and it's surface area is about 16 inches by 14 inches. As shown in the photos the back rest is about 38 inches tall. The height of the chair is no longer able to adjust. When it was in factory use it seems that they customized the chair so that it could not adjust higher but the stool does swivel. Antique Machine Age Industrial Chair Stool Steel Do-More Casters Adjustable UHL
Here we have a great Machine Age industrial chair. This chair is made of steel and I have seen people listing them as UHL Toledo and also as Do-More stools. I have not seen any markings on this chair to indicate either of them as being the brand. The casters are Bassick casters and as you can see from the photos there is some wear and chipping to the wheels. Photo 10 shows the worst of the chipping to one of the wheels. As you can see from the photos this chair has been repainted and maybe recovered but it was obviously done awhile ago. The back rest of the chair is about 31 inches tall and the back rest is about 15 inches wide. The seat is about 17 1/2 inches tall and is 12 1/2 inches by 16 inches. The back rest of the chair is adjustable as you can see. The seat of the chair looks like it may adjust but I wasn't able to figure out how ... moreit does so. Vintage/ Antique"Hallowell" Industrial Swivel Stool- Similar to the Toledo UHL Chairs or other Machine Age Steampunk stools. Manufacturer markings on chair: Hallowell” Standard Pressed Steel Co. Jenkintown. PA, USA Equipment Identification Label: PLCB-695 Function Number 77-3/00#210-RF-27-31, This vintage industrial Hallowell chair has adjustable height. The chair measures 39” tall to the top of the contoured backrest. The seat at its lowest height is 27.75” and at its tallest height is 31.5” The seat itself is 14.5” in diameter and the foot print of the chair(measuring the round foot rest bar) is 19” in diameter. This would be a great chair for a bar. Kitchen island, drafting table, or tall desk. The legs are comprised of heavy gauge steel with welded bracing for durability. The swivel and adjustable height mechanics are smooth ... moreand are not at all noisy; Vintage swivel chairs can often be noisy, but this chair makes nearly no sound when swiveling. The wood seat section can anchor to the steel frame with 4 bolts, but only 2 original bolts exist and are shown in the bottom-side of seat in the photos. While the two original bolts are definitely sufficient enough for stability— even for my 210lb frame— I will also provide 2 additional bolts purchased new from my local hardware store. The gray paint(with slight greenish and blue hues) shows areas of wear, but this gives the chair even more character. The wood sections of the chair are very structurally sound, but the contoured back rest is seeing some minor separation between wood laminates at the bottom edge of the backrest(see close-up photos) You can see there is a 3/4” wide piece of the top veneer on the backside of the backrest that has peeled off. This piece is missing and is not included. PLEASE NOTE: All items are described to the best of my ability and sold‘as pictured’ This item is vintage and shows some normal wear and tear appropriate for its age. Sturdy and straight forward with simple yet ornate design. Thick wall tubing and rod. And thick plate for the seat. All original paint without any paint over and solid as can be. Antique Machine Age Industrial Stool Cook Cambridge Vintage Chair Butcher Block
Here we have an amazing Machine Age industrial stool made from the C. A. Cook Co. of Cambridge. Mass. This stool is adjustable in a few ways. The back rest adjusts up and down and also back and forth depending on how good of posture you would to have. The seat of the chair also adjusts in height. from as low as about 20 inches to as high as about 24 inches. The seat looks similar to a butcher block table top and is about 16 inches by 13 inches. The back rest of the chair has a great look. As you can see from the photos there is some finish damage and wear and a saw mark in the seat but over all it's a great piece. Antique Industrial Machine Age Adjustable Cast Iron Steel seat Stool Chair draft
This is an absolutely killer industrial chair/ stool. With adjustable seat back. The two things that really stick out to me as unusual with this are the seat back assembly and the splayed out feet. The height of the seat is approx. 18" With the seat back(as configured currently) at 31" though it can adjust higher or lower to desired height. The feet create a rectangle of approx. 13 1/2" x 14 1/2" The seat is approx. 14 1/2" in diameter. The only minor issue I can discern is that the front piece of the seat is seperated(totally stable as is. Since the metal ring is supporting underneath) and just needs to have some wood glue put into the crack to tighten it back up. Visible in last photo. Sold with No Reserve. Vintage Industrial Metal Stool. Upholstered with Back Rest. The seat and back rest are adjustable. The back rest adjusts up and down and has a pin that hinges the back rest to lean back. The back rest also adjusts back and forth at the seat with a turn knob. The seat adjusts up and down by sliding.no hydrolics. I believe the upholstery is original. It has a metal tag affixed to the back of the seat that reads Luxco Office Furniture. The upholstery is in good condition with some discoloration and marks on it. There is a 1/2" scratch on the seat and split on the back of the backrest that is a 1/2" The color of the fabric is brown and it is a vinyl. The metal is painted dark brown. It is missing in some spots and has some surface rust and some mars/discoloration. The chair seat measures 16 1/2" in W in front, 14 3/4" in back ... moreand is 14 1/2" D. For your consideration is an updated vintage factory stool. The stool features a distressed painted finish and great original wooden seat. The seat measures 23 3/4" with the back 35" tall as shown. The screws in the back have been replaced to facilitate the back adjustment. Which is approximately 3" The wooden seat is 14 1/2" in diameter and is stamped by the mfg. HALLOWELL" The base measures 14" x 14" square. The piece has been disassembled, painted and distressed and the seat sanded, sealed and given a hand rubbed wax finish. Which was once a powerhouse in the machine tool industry(J&L, Bryant Grinder, ... moreFellows Gear Shaper, etc) There is a very good chance it came from one of the local shops at some point in time(an awful lot of artifacts from those shops is sitting in the homes and shops in this area) This appears to be a Yankee solution to a shop need. The oak chair top is by Marble& Shattuck and I think was originally an office chair. It was at some point married up with the old industrial green tubular steel stool base. It works fine. The tube the post under the chair sits in has a bronze bushing in it as a bearing. The chair is somewhat wobbly in that bushing. So perhaps a new bushing is needed. There is a set screw on the side of the tube at the top of the base. If you use it, then the stool won't swivel. Sizes: 20-1/2" wide at the foot rest. 23" deep from the seat back to the foot rest in front, 43-1/2" high at the seat back, 26-1/2" high when the seat is at its lowest point The oak seat has a big split in it as shown. It needs to be glued in my opinion. The side braces also have splits in the wood down low underneath. The finish is quite worn with scratches. Scuffs and such from years of use and handling.
