Very nice H. Holtzman& Son Piano Stool for sale. The conditions that I see are that on the swivel seat there appears to be a crack in the wood. And the brass pieces on the feet are loose and need to be tightened up, and the base part where the stool screws in is loose and would raise up from the base an inch or two. Maybe this is normal I do not know and wanted disclose what I see. Other than this the wood is in beautiful condition. The wood is either Mahogany or walnut and I would lean towards walnut, but I do not know for sure. This is a very RARE stool from Holtzman& Sons, having 4 ornate solid column spindle legs around a larger column center spindle. The ornate edged mahogany seat is 14" in diameter and adjusts by spinning the seat in one direction or the other. The seat is secured to the metal screw and plate. The plate is signed"Holtzman and Sons. Columbus Ohio" An engraving under the seat reads, Nut. Pat. June 13, 08. The seat adjusts from 20" 25" inches in height and weighs 18 lbs. It was made by the Colonial Furniture Co. of Grand Rapids. Michigan. This company was in operation from 1910-1949. It has the original label from the company attached on the bottom along with a label that says" Genuine Solid Mahogany" It has beautifully carved roses on the mahogany base and Queen Anne legs. The burgundy floral needlepoint has braided trim with brass tacks along the edge. It is about 15 1/2" long and 12" wide and 10 1/2" tall and is in very nice condition. Vintage Leather, Wood & Brass Camel Back Seat Stool Brass Accents Circa 1950's
The lady I bought this from told me it had been in her family for over 50 years. A relative was in the military and bought it while on a tour of duty. It shows a lot of wear and tear but is still pretty cool. The wood is solid. The leather is very worn and some of the stitching on the edges has come loose. It has brass end caps with a camel and rider and brass medallions with the same decoration on each leg. It is 22" X 14" and is 12" tall(just to top of leather) With the end caps it stands 14" tall.
