Purchased at a local estate from the 62 yr old granddaughter of the original owner. This piece is ALL original with Velvet Chenille upholstery. Pix taken in natural light with color true to depiction. Bench measures 18 1/2 high and 32" long. The seat is 11 1/2" wide and very sturdy. Cast iron frame with a bronze patina wash. Have not been able to find any info on the signed manufacture of Congress Specialty co, Chicago as depicted in pix#s 9& 10. There is another marking on inside leg of 39 G.S in pix# 6. Pix# 11 shows a little rust on bottom of one leg. Upholstery is still sturdy. Does have a few places where Her cat chose to sharpen her claws so there are a few loose threads. But no major shredding. The ashtrays have aluminum upper and copper bottoms. The bottoms have a few dings as depicted in pix#5. Do Not know if ashtrays ... moreoriginally had handles. Seeing two small holes on top of them, i asked the granddaughter, but she never recalled seeing handles on them. With french Cabriole legs and Art Nouveau styling this is truly a rare beauty from the turn of the century. Please look at all pix enlarged as this is 90% of the description. In great antique condition with NO odors or stains. But was in cat lover's home on for those of you with allergies. Look carefully and decide for yourself because your opinion may differ from mine. This beautiful cast iron bench is sold as found from a Dayton. Ohio estate and is in good condirion with no cracks or tears to the fabric. The metal side panels have a very unusual and remarkable design. The ornate cast iron legs have a lion or gargoyle looking creature in the center. Stamped on the inside of the metal on both side pieces have markings"6019" see photo 12. The side panels are joined by a 1/2 inch bar which reinforces the bench making it very stable. The approximate overall measurement across(metal to metal) is 24"L x 24" H x 12" W. It is in very good condition and newly upholstered with heavy black and gold traditional fabric with long twisted golden tassels. Spanish Colonial Revival Iron Fireside/Window Bench 1910-1930 ~ NOT a Replica
The height of popularity for this style of furniture was Circa 1830 to 1850. A revival of it was brought about again in Circa 1910 to 1930- the Spanish Colonial Revival style. This piece is from that era. It was part of my grandmother's collection of antiques. She was the antiques expert- I had to ask an expert about this fireside bench(he was the one that gave me the above information) So please view all pictures and if you have any questions, I will answer them promptly and to the best of my ability. Measurements(approximate) Bench seat: 42.5 inches long, Arm-to-arm: 49 inches long, Bench seat: 18 inches tall, tallest part of the arms: 26 inches tall, Bench seat: 14 inches wide, This bench is heavy(approximately 52 lbs. and very solidly built. Markings: Pat. Pend. and"Verona 75" stamps underneath on the frame in two places. ... moreNot only did the Spanish Revival style consist of wooden furniture with inlays and carvings. But also the integration of leather and nail heat trim. I can just imagine how beautiful this bench would be if it were reupholstered in leather! Damaged/missing: 1) one flower-shaped nut/bolt missing from one of the two bars that make up the arms at the seat level. And 2) a break in one of the decorative scrolls on one end- to the left of the'Aladdin Lamp' decoration(see pictures) Other than the damage and missing part mentioned above, it is in excellent condition- no apparent repairs. Paint and design are original. It has been reupholstered, but I do not know when. This fireside bench can be picked up in Fort Worth. Texas, after payment has been confirmed through PayPal. VINTAGE VICTORIAN CAST IRON VANITY FIRESIDE PIANO BENCH BOY PIPER FIGURE I recently purchased this bench at local estate sale. It measures approximately 12 3/4" x 24 1/2" and is 17 1/2" tall. There are two cast iron side frames and one cast iron bar that joins the two frames. The frame is bolted to the wood padded seat. I pulled several staples and pulled back what looks to be newer upholstery to see what was underneath. There was only a small amount of edge material still nailed to wooden platform. It was a faded red velvet fabric and I would think it was what was original. I re-stapled the fabric. It would be simple to change out the fabric to match your decor. The coat of paint on the cast iron frames is worn. It is black with minimal gold gilding. There is an uneven lacquer type of coating remaining over the black and gold. ... moreThere is an embossed pied piper on the oval medallion of each frame. The piper is on all sides. The bench's feet look like small lion feet. It is strong and sturdy and would make a nice piano. Hallway or vanity seat. It is quite heavy. It will weigh packaged over 27 lbs. Wonderful old theater design radio bench. Cast iron has an intricate carved look with two cranes on each end. Seat looks to have original burgundy fabric with wear as pictured. Padded top needs reupholstered-wear and edge of fabric has come disconnected(this disconnected piece in photos 2 and 3 could easily be re-attatched) Buyer could easily recover.
