The fabric I choose was a copy of an old Williamsburg style fabric, so I felt it very appropriate for this lovely rare stool. I actually call it a bench because it is so large. Condition: The stool is in excellent condition with no breaks or flaws to the old lovely patina. There is a repair to one corner and I took pictures so you could see it. Other than that it is lovely. It has never been around animals or smoke. I restore and reupholster my furniture when needed and I have a big carriage barn that I store my antiques in.NO animals.NO smoke and I sell in lovely condition. Age is my best guess around 1790 to 1820. The rectangle of the footstool is not exactly square. Its off a little bit.but THAT IS HOW THEY MADE IT. My upholster laughed when he made the new cushion(nice and firm) and said, it is a little off. I told him, he was a little off and we both laughed. He went on to say. 1930's Footstool Horseshoe Shaped Western Style
Built in the 1930's. This is a rounded footstool which stands 9 1/2" tall. The wooden end pieces are shaped like horseshoes, with small tabs at the end on the front of each leg for stability. Length of actual stool is 13 3/4" and about 7 1/4" wide. The top is done in a brown leather-like vinyl, edged with studs. At one time, one end cracked in half(the wood) Someone did an excellent repair job, although crack is visible, it is completely stable(I've had teenagers sit on this footstool! There were two small tabs placed on the top of the curve at each end of the wood. I believe these were added later to give stability. The bottom is covered with a black dustcloth. Up for auction is an early Victorian-style equestrian embroidered footstool. This footstool has four metal and wood casters. Detailed carvings and is/was filled with hay. Antique VICTORIAN Style NEEDLEPOINT FOOTSTOOL with METAL LEGS - Early 1900s
Up for auction is a Victorian style footstool with metal legs. I believe it was made around the turn of the 20th century. This would make a great restoration project. As the pictures show. The needlepoint, wood, and metal all have signs of wear. A section of the needlepoint cover is depressed downwards. The metal legs are screwed on. One of the is slightly wobbly because a screw hole is too far away from the leg bracket. That would be an easy fix to make the leg tight. The diameter of the round wooden base is 11 1/2 inches. With the legs included. It measures 14 1/2 inches across. The stool is about 9 inches high. I am not an expert on this item. So please ask questions and I'll be happy to answer them for you. This is a vintage Bench Stool. Ottoman, with WOOD CURVED legs. Vintage style fabric with pretty green design is framed with a matching colored tassel to complete this ottoman and is in very good condition with tiny minor spots hardly noticeable. I think this type of fabric was popular in the 50's and 60's. It is VERY sturdy, heavy and is large enough to use as a bench for extra seating or rest your legs on. This is an antique footstool that is ready for u pholstery. The footstool measures: 18" L x 13 1/2" W x 10" H. Weighs 7 1/4 pounds before packaging. The fabric is supposed to cover all the way to the bottom of the wood framework. The only portion of exposed wood when the piece is recovered are the legs. The antique legs were refinished. Arts and Crafts style footstool, probably very early 20th century
I bought this footstool frame at auction about 20 years ago and had a friend make a top for it out of particle board with padding and good quality leather. Frame alone is 8.5" tall. 15" wide, 11" deep. Shows signs of wear as would anything this old. It has not been refinished to my knowledge. You can see pegs consistent with the period. Top is held on with philips head screws Some vertical slats fit a little loosely but won't fall out. They could be glued in place but I didnt want to do anything to alter the'original' condition of it. I did put pads on the bottoms of the legs because I have satillo tile floors that scratch easily. This rare footstool is covered in a richly dyed supple leather-regal burnt red starting from the outside. In the middle of the leather the color turns to a darkish-orange tan. A beautiful embossment separates the 2 royal colors. The middle of the stool showcases a painted Royal Crown resting atop a seal. The edges of the leather are adorned with nailheads. The wood is beautifully hand-carved. Cabriole legs end in Whorl style feet. The underside is covered in black felt. This is a great old hand made footstool. With a medium brown transparent stain and clean finish. The wood might be walnut as it is harder than pine The footstool is heart shaped and measures 11-3/8" long. 7-5/8" high and 10" wide- great for an adult or child. All hand made from hardwood possibly walnut. The top& legs are held together by wooden dowels(which did not take the stain the same as the remainder of the wood) No cracks but some chatter in the wood. The hand painted fruit or veggie- tomatoe on the vine? was added after the clear finish. Some paint splatter on the tip with some tiny white dots on the top surface.
